This video is just so sad, i really cant understand why there was no third year. You sound so hopeful and confident and it reminds me how i felt last year. what a shame.
Coming back to this review has made me pick up and play with and appreciate my own G2 sets again. I really can't bemoan G2's shortcomings in light of all the fantastic things it brought us... I just wish we'd have gotten that third year.
Loved the review as always! Not much to say in they of thoughts on the beasts, but they look better than I thought. So glad Ekimu finally can stand with the other Toa in battle! This set is just what I was hoping for! It's just what he deserves. When I look at Umarak the destroyer my mind always goes back to one thing:Titan Joker! Even the way he's just oozing with sickly green...Something, makes him look like he's been using some really bad stuff with nasty side effects to hop himself up.
At the end of the day, it's really nice to escape from all the negativity of the BIONICLE community about these sets and see a more positive analysis that does point out the flaws. I appreciate it, Nick. As for the sets, Umarak the Destroyer looks amazing. I'd go as far as to say one of the best G2 figures, coming short (or tall? Er...) of his previous version, which is STILL my favorite BIONICLE set of all time. I just wish Lego would get the leg proportions right. If they kept Umarak's normal thigh pieces he would have been even taller. Doesn't make sense how they got shorter. Ekimu's legs feel really weird too. Still pretty great. And now a question for the summer 2016 story: do you think Ekimu is going to die in a spectacular battle of Creation vs Destruction?
My headcanon for Umarak's head connectors is that the Mask of Control drilled into his horns, making his already painful-looking mutation look even more painful.
Damn dude, I can't find ANY 2016 Bionicle figures at my Toys R Us. Every wave I decide to go look for some, I always seem to arrive late to the party. The shelves are almost always picked clean. Usually the only guys left are Pohatu and Gali, and even then, there were only like 1 of each left. I think Bionicle G2 might be catching on with more kids than we thought.
@@GreyTheGamer06true man, Lego begame a disgusting profit Organisation. I mean more disgusting than any other company. My aunt worked at lego as an engineer and there is nothing left of the glory. Only fanboys accept the higher prices.

another great review, don't think I ever mentioned it before but I really like how you interpret all of the designs of the sets and how they look its really awesome
What I'm planning to do is get several of each of the beasts so that it looks like I have an entire army of them on my shelf. I think that it would look pretty cool alongside the Toa that I already have on display. Overall, I think that this wave looks great, and I cannot wait to complete it.
That American Narrator Hey, if you have the money for it, go to town. Maybe you could even make slight differences between them all so it looks like they have unique traits despite being members of a species. Every tiger has different stripes.
I don't really mind the black connectors for Umarak's horns. It kind of looks like crystals started growing from the sides of the MoC, as well as horns growing from Umarak himself and taking the gold horns from the MoC with them and fusing together.
I think that those pieces really capture the image that Umarak isn't supposed to look the way that he does. Even the new horns couldn't come out unscathed from the mutation.
I have a theory about what the storyline for 2017 might be. (First half: Winter Wave) Makuta summons six immortal arcane sorcerers, known as the Shadow Sages, from another realm, known as the Twilight Realm, and has them find and steal the Mask of Ultimate Power. To defeat Makuta, and the Shadow Sages, and get the Mask of Ultimate Power, the Toa must travel to a temple on a faraway island, where they will find six ancient entities who call themselves the Guardians, and ask them to help them enter the Twilight Realm, as they have fought the Shadow Sages in the past. The Toa succeed in entering the Twilight Realm, but fail to defeat the Shadow Sages, because of how powerful they are in the realm, than outside the realm. (Second Half: Summer Wave) The Okotans have no idea what have happened to the Toa, so a young Okotan volunteers to find them, and bring them home. With the aid of the Guardians, the young Okotan travels to the Twilight Realm. However, the atmosphere in the realm changes the young Okotan into a tall Toa-sized being with powers over light, while those who actually come from the Twilight Realm, (the Guardians, and the Sages), and the Toa, who are biomechanical beings who didn't come from Okoto in the first place, are not affected. The young hero, now taking on the name, Takanuva, proceeds to practice his new powers, and once he is ready, he defeats the Sages, and rescues the Toa, and together, the seven heroes defeat Makuta, and either A: destroy the Mask of Ultimate Power, or B: take it from Makuta, and seal it away from Okoto, and the Twilight Realm, never to be used again.
Even though there won’t be a third year (unless it’s resurrected for Lego’s anniversary) this backstory is pretty cool. Although, if I may float a suggestion, instead of shadow sages, perhaps we could give them a new name, maybe…….RAKSHI!!

NickonAquaMagna now that I think about it, if lego were to continue the story of G2, there could have been toa (Toa Metru) who were the ones who brought peace to the island of Okoto, until Makuta created the mask of Ultimate power.

Umarak is actually the only summer 2016 set u bought. He just has such a Freddy Kruger, hulk kinda look. And I always joked that the goo on his chest represents his power. The power to shoot dangerous syrup.
great review, also in regards to enemies to face the toa, I think shadow wraiths would be really cool, maybe they were ancient warriors and kings from another island who makuta has raised to fight for him, each of which can fight the toa one on one and may even be slightly more powerful
I got all of the sets on Tuesday, and made a few improvements to them- for example, I covered up the top half of Umarak the Destroyer's back with some Techinc beams and panels, and gave him a new neck, and I also made Ekimu's legs and arms a bit longer.
In the meantime, it really annoys me that people keep asking when the next Bionicle review will come out, when they should realize it might not be for another year, because we all have to wait until the sets are out next year.
Diesel 20212 Well, it's mostly been people asking me when THIS review would come out. They seem to expect me to get the sets on day one (Even though I live in Maine, where sets take longer to reach the shelves) and think it should only take, like, a day to write, record, film, convert, edit, render and upload all of this. Geezum.
While I can understand why they didn't make a new gold version of the connectors on Umarak the destroyer's tusks, part of me thinks they should've at leaat made 'em yellow or some sort of keetongu orange type color. Sure, it wouldn't have fit with the rest of the color scheme, but at least it would've improved the illusion of the tusks being part of the mask
i thought of this just now the mask had permanently fused to his face and the horns had pulled parts of his head to out to extend the horns and makutert tortures him by making the horns grow like giving him a head ace if he disobeys him
I _really_ don't want there to be another wave of Toa next year. Or, even if they do, have it be the Summer wave ffs... Too many heroes, not enough villains. Do what your used to do, LEGO! Release a wave of villains first, then the new batch of Toa! I seriously don't want another version each for the Toa past the Uniters - I'm already going to be using my still-built Masters' parts to revamp them the best that I can, and I do NOT want to have to deal with buying EVEN MORE BLOODY TOA. Make the (possibly) last year one filled with more villains, please. We've already got 24 sets dedicated to the heroes alone - leaving the villains with a measly 10. (I didn't include MMvSG because that set was basically balanced between sides. Well, kinda. Whatever. I'm tired.)
Like I said at the end of the vid, I too hope they mix things up. Of course I still want to see what new pieces or builds they can come up with, what sort of new style they give the Toa, but I wouldn't mind having some truly outstanding villains first. People LOVE Umarak the Hunter. A lot say he's their favorite G2 set of all. Well, what if we had an entire group, a wave of villains that were AT LEAST that good?
That would be _great_. Umarak tH is definitely the best villain set we've gotten so far, and I certainly wouldn't mind getting more villains on-par with the 'standard' Umarak set.
I love all of the sets from what I've seen of them, but because Bionicle ended, I can't find any of the sets without having to pay a fortune. Can anyone help me with this, or am I just stuck? If anyone wants to help me search, the only sets I have are both Umaraks, Kopaka, Pohato, and Lewa Uniters with their respective creatures.
definitely see how you'd need to thnk then rethink these a few times I like the evolution, though initial feeling is they may have gone a bit to Christmas tree with the crystal, translusence and stuff that destoyer is a hit, show's the potentential we'd've seen in a next wave wwwwWiked cool build, that Maxzillus(?) figure shown last
I'm extremely surprised that you put this up so early. I expected you to hold off on them until at least Journey to One's Summer Wave Episodes came out to provide context for some of the decisions made with these sets. Then again, that could be chalked up to how surprisingly early these sets came out. Honestly, I starting to have my doubts about these sets. Pre-release shots looked awkward, if not awful, but the more I saw of them from in hand videos, the more my initial thoughts seemed to be swayed in a different direction(I initially wanted Lava Beast the most of the $15 Beasts, but I liked how Storm Beast came out more, although this video really made Lava Beast look cool again. Still bleh on Quake Beast). Granted, I still REALLY want Umarak the Destroyer. I love all the little hints to his former self and the extent of his corruption, as well as his bulk despite not gaining much height, which may be my biggest disappointment with the set. The larger Ekimu I can take or leave, but I like to imagine the Hunter Mask he comes with as a makeshift Mask of Ultimate Power in case next years' sets fail to give us a physical representation of it. I'd prefer it if they ended things next year. Granted, it'd be great to give G2 more time to grow and become something as great as G1, but it would be more satisfying for next years sets to be one final hoorah for the story and it ends at that. It may just be that way given how I STILL see tons of Skull Bashers, Warriors, and Scorpios shelfwarming my Wal-Mart for $8 with no 2016 Summer Wave in sight. That's just how I feel.
I found last bioincle sets at my local Walmart for 2 bucks. I was surprised sets were very cheap asked guy in charge of the section. He said that sets weren't selling very well and figures , so assistant manager wouldn't have summer wave in stock or other figures in the store.
Great review now I want to go out and buy them (except they're way over priced in my local toys r us) and would you mind making a video about how you changed them? I do plan to mod them but I don't want to copy yours just see what you did.
You know what stinks? EVERYONE IS SAYING BIONICLE IS ENDING THIS YEAR! Uh, I get so disappointed thinking of the potential if it ends. I'm not sure if it will end but please don't end soon.
I really hate hearing news about that. If Bionicle is gonna end then at least have end in 2017 where its got its third year done. That way it's main story feels complete and it can end on a high note.
I really hope G2 does get its last year I just have no idea if it will or won't. On the one hand a Lego employee supposedly said it would, on the other hand the timeline makes absolutely no sense. I just don't know what to think.
Ok, I do think the uniters are the best Toa yet. It's good we gottem because I remember all the awful inika build Tahu MOCS lol. We should just be happy it returned at all.
Yeah. The Bionicle community(mostly us older fans), are so jaded and pessimistic these days. We don't have concrete evidence on how Bionicle is performing. My little brothers absolutely love these new sets, and I'm so glad they get to have a similar experience as I did during G1's run. Yeah, sure, kids nowadays would usually spend their play time playing games on smart phones or tablets, but they would occasionally still play with toys and what not. Let the new generation have their fun.
I don't understand those people. From what I see we're in the proper middle of a trilogy: First part finds victory for the heroes, the second part is much more destructive and terrible, and the third part will bring it all to an end. Plus we still gotta see the Mask of Ultimate Power before we see the end of BIONICLE again.
Well, so do this year's Toa, with all the new greeble that's been added. In fact, there are some fans who don't like that, who think they should've just kept rolling with the smooth ccbs look for consistency.
I like your reviews very much and I agree with almost all of your points. Keep it up!) But... Don't take it the wrong way please, but after seeing all of your reviews I can't help but notice a bit of a pattern. "This Toa\villain line is great!" - "No, disregard that, it was so-so, but THIS new line is REALLY great!". This was a case with Masters and Uniters, this is the case with Skulls and Beasts as well. I could cope with one case of Uniters, but here you say the same. And I'm sorry, but I really don't think the Beasts are _that_ better than Skulls, at least because the Skulls at least had a reason to be what they are - skeletons reanimated by Kulta, and their flaws could be explained this way. Trans-red bits on all skeletons? Kulta's energy. Very slim bone pieces with no armor whatsoever? Those are literally bones. Asymmetric builds? Decay. 3 faces, all in silver\gunmetal? Those are skulls (humanoid skull, bull skull and a skull spider's body). But how can you justify the flaws of this line? The awkward leg builds, the god-awful open joints on Storm Beast's arms, the unmovable jaw in one color, through which a balljoint and a headpiece's "chin" can be seen? Yeah, no, I'm sorry, but Skulls win here. Storm Beast's function rules though. I didn't think they'd ever top the Skull Basher's one, yet they did.
I never thought the skulls were amazing, just that they pulled off some really neat tricks for how limiting some of the parts were and they got good mileage out of the elements they had (the bones an' such). Something about the beasts feels a little more... traditional, I could say? A little back to basics. When I stand them next to the skulls, the skulls just look kind of bland. I think the skulls are good... but I never said they were great. And the Toa from last year are pretty darn great, but I do think the new Toa are a bit more daring.
Hey Nick, quick (or not-so-quick) question, what do you think of Lego Sonic now being an official thing. Personally the only thing I'm annoyed at are the news outlets calling Dimensions "the best Sonic game", because the best Sonic game will always be Super Smash Bros.
i almost feel cheated by lego after releasing what seems like such great and fun figures, i wanna blame it on advertising but i honestly cant, the old bionicle ads were perfect and are what got kids into this new expansive universe, in 2016 we got a choppy and poorly made netflix series that has so many plot holes, useless additions and mistakes it gives me a headache, plus the ads we got in 2016 were horendous, it was just your usual ''quickly the heroes need to stop the villain before he.. well does something?'' and dont even get me started on 2015, the small miniseries animated ''thing'' we got gave me an even worse headache, watching this and seeing you and the rest of the community excited after a decent summer wave makes me upset, now that i think about it i guess advertising is to blame, lego has already killed constraction, i guess its too late to keep complaining
Esc Boy I've already made some mods with pieces I have laying around. I lengthened Storm Beast's arms and tail a bit, and bulked Quake Beast up... the only one already so perfect that I don't want to change it is Lava Beast. Umarak I just filled out and gave a more lifelike neck, and you can see the changes I made to Ekimu near the end of the video, along with all of the Toa.
This video is just so sad, i really cant understand why there was no third year. You sound so hopeful and confident and it reminds me how i felt last year. what a shame.

That Metroid Prime Phazon Mines Theme Though
you know what i think should be the villians next year? anti toa
Maybe bricklink?
I actually tried to modify lava beast giving it bending thumbs
definitely see how you'd need to thnk then rethink these a few times I like the evolution, though initial feeling is they may have gone a bit to Christmas tree with the crystal, translusence and stuff that destoyer is a hit, show's the potentential we'd've seen in a next wave wwwwWiked cool build, that Maxzillus(?) figure shown last
I don’t know what it is, but something about these remind me of the orcs from lord of the rings
They also remind me ALOT of doomsday from dc
Kids don't like action figures anymore. They just want ipads.
People have been pestering me about this one.
+NickonAquaMagna kids still do I have seen in person my niece and her friends play with toys still. Technology can keep kids entertain for so long.
next year........
that metroid prime world themes in general though
I wish I owned at least one of the beasts. Their pretty good cannon fodder
Great review now I want to go out and buy them (except they're way over priced in my local toys r us) and would you mind making a video about how you changed them? I do plan to mod them but I don't want to copy yours just see what you did.
I will, once I get a few more pieces to add to them. You can see my modded Ekimu near the end, at least.
I swear Umarak's Destroyer form is to resemble BvS Doomsday
They don't just cause storms, quakes, and eruptions- the official Lego description reveals that Storm Beasts can summon LIGHTNING!
Well... that seems pretty obvious. Storms sort of imply lightning.
The 2015 figures are my favorite I don’t really like this year. the arms hanging back never bothered me. I love the mask of control though.
Do you play halo also please make a review if you do
Have you made a toa kaita-moc for the Uniters?
No.
i actually love Umarak. Like he actually looks like a Bionicle
Well, so do this year's Toa, with all the new greeble that's been added. In fact, there are some fans who don't like that, who think they should've just kept rolling with the smooth ccbs look for consistency.
I like your reviews very much and I agree with almost all of your points. Keep it up!)
But...
And my favorite beast is storm beast he reminds me of a storm dragon
Did you leave the rest of the sets as they were and only revamp the Toa, Protectors and Creatures?
Are they out in Ireland
I wouldn't know that.
Sadly they arent.... But great review!
Anyone thinks those peaces that can make a dragon
Storm beast is my favorite
What about the combo model with the beasts?
What about?
Will you review it?
Ayy lmao
What for?
For the same reason you reviewed the rest of the wave?
Ayy lmao
Aw, man...
Hey Nick, quick (or not-so-quick) question, what do you think of Lego Sonic now being an official thing. Personally the only thing I'm annoyed at are the news outlets calling Dimensions "the best Sonic game", because the best Sonic game will always be Super Smash Bros.
And I just realized I didn't put a question mark.
My mind is drawing a blank.
Kulta/Skull Grinder reminds me of Satan bro.
Yo Nick, how do you feel 'bout Mighty No. 9?
I'm not comfortable talking about it until I've played the game.
+NickonAquaMagna
Oh, do you plan to play it?
spacedp
Well, yeah. I backed it years ago, now I'm just waiting for my key.
I can't belive that i am like 500.
18:18 ahahahaHA*HAHAHAHAHA*
Indeed.
i almost feel cheated by lego after releasing what seems like such great and fun figures, i wanna blame it on advertising but i honestly cant, the old bionicle ads were perfect and are what got kids into this new expansive universe, in 2016 we got a choppy and poorly made netflix series that has so many plot holes, useless additions and mistakes it gives me a headache, plus the ads we got in 2016 were horendous, it was just your usual ''quickly the heroes need to stop the villain before he.. well does something?'' and dont even get me started on 2015, the small miniseries animated ''thing'' we got gave me an even worse headache, watching this and seeing you and the rest of the community excited after a decent summer wave makes me upset, now that i think about it i guess advertising is to blame, lego has already killed constraction, i guess its too late to keep complaining
G2 is basically just G1 but told in a different point of view
I don't like asking for likes but like so he can see it
I see it, dood.
am i the only one who thinks umaraks head looks like the motorhead logo?
Holy crap it does! XD
i.ytimg.com/vi/ly3bgpqxb5c/maxresdefault.jpg
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE STORM BEAST WAS TERRIBLE
Pretzel Jedi News to me.
I’m just saying the STORM beat is awful
first XD
...
it was completely necessary
what mods are youthinking of making to the figures?
Esc Boy
I've already made some mods with pieces I have laying around.
+NickonAquaMagna You should check out PlayStippling's mocitorium on Umarak's neck!
Tran Le
I've seen it. Mine's different.
Thank you for reviewing my dumbass toys that are made for children.
Have I mentioned that I hate UA-cam channel that impersonate other people.
do you hate rotties because I'll unsub if you do P.S. rottie = rottweiler
No.
