Swedish torch + 5" Firebox + Mountains = match made in Heaven. Major improvement, especially for groups and up here in the cold north. Great improv Steve!
Hi Steve great video I got some limbs off an oak tree just the right dimensions to fit in the stove so cut them to length and split them into 4 and put them in the stove point to the corner and hole up middle for air and lighting 2 of these pucks did whole casserole for 8 people in big pan
Wow dude! Thank you! It is a balmy -18C here in Edmonton today. I copied your method and used a whole package of fire starter, (because of the cold), & let the fire start for 20 minutes. I was able to cook a package of cheese potatoes to perfection in 40 minutes. Enough fire remained to grill a rib steak to medium rare! My wife and I are thrilled with such performance!
Thank you Steven. A little known fact is that the company/person who made your "other stove" got their start in the stove business by selling the original 5 inch fire box as our exclusive distributor for the whole of Germany.
Ordered mine yesterday. Got shipped today. Tracking it by the minute. It will be my go to stove for fishing /camping trips to my local lakes. Thanks Steve.👊
It was a lot of fun experimenting with the Nano, to me that's half the fun. The cool thing is how well it worked. My aim was to investigate low maintenance fire in the Nano, I was very pleased. Nice stove, and very capable even though it is small.
Thanks Perry! It sure is nice having you and Shauna around. You guys are awesome! I'm also very impressed with the quality of craftsmanship and design of your products! Absolutely the best!
Holy cow . . . Steve and Perry Peacock (The Dynamic Duo) communicating among themselves. I feel so small right now, being in the presence of greatness.
Thanks for the video Steve, you are on a winner with the firebox design, as there are many good cooking stoves on the market, however; your design permits different kinds of fuels to be used, Trangia burner for when you are not permitted to have a solid fuel fire, solid fuel tablets, and wood. Quite impressed, I also like the way which the stove folds down which saves on packing bulk.
I just received my firebox last week. Totally enjoyed cooking with it for this 1st time. Thanks for the this video we are heading out to Utah at some point and we are totally bringing your firebox with us. The swedish fire set up is fantastic idea but of course you didnt need to hear that from me =). Totally dig the videos you have as they keep proving how great your stoves are!!!
Steve at 73forge, formerly bushcrafter1973 showed me your fire box, but now that i found this swedish torch test I'm really liking the fire box. @73FORGE
It works great and now that I know, I'll try even larger chunks or even split a log it quarters and turn the corners into the corners of the Firebox. I also want to try it with the Nano!
What an excellent video!!!! You are really thinking outside the box, with the box lol. A great way to have a long lasting cooking and heating fire to cook with and also to maybe use inside a super shelter as a hearing element. I will experimenting with my Firefox. Thanks for the idea. I love the way as a company you teach your customers how to get the most from their lifetime purchase. You rock!
Add a little bit of fully cooked sausage and you'd have a fine meal. Bringing along a 6-8" Heat Diffuser Plate would go a long way to evening out the heat from the fire on your cook pan.
My G2 is on the way, can hardly wait. I built a miniature pottery kiln for my miniature ceramics. Your a man after my own creative mind. I am actually curious to see if this method could work for my miniature ceramic pots, very cool. But food first! I would have to try a separate one since pottery would contaminate the dtove.
I love these small wood burners, I have a stainless steel collapsible gasification stove and a titanium one also, I just got the onetigris angry eyes and did it’s first burn finding the ways it likes to work, going to try this way tomorrow
To the best of my knowledge I'm one of the first if not the first to try this fueling method. I only say that because I am the inventor of the Firebox stoves and I think it's important for people to know how much practical testing and general twig stove experience goes into the designs of my stoves. I don't just sell products I live the experience and am part of the stove community 👍😎
@@fireboxstove I definitely appreciate the efforts, one day I’ll own one of yours, what I really love about these little wood burners is besides being lightweight and taking little room is the economical use of fuel to cook a full meal. I’ve cooked meals (hotdogs, burgers) in not much time for up to 8 people using another wood burner and only used a 1/4 of an average fire pit log.
I just ordered the nano firebox x- case from Dave Canonbury website I thank it's a really good little stove I should be getting it in sometime this week or so! .
Interesting! Definitely a maintenance free fire for cooking! Especially for grilling! But there is just one observation... WHERES THE BACON(or strip steak)!! LOL ;)
Hey Steve Im the proud owner of a Gen II, a Nano and a Scout….Have you ever tried those dehydrated hash browns from Costco in the pint containers? Soak in hot water for 15 minutes and do what you want with them after that…..enough to feed 3-4 people
wow good video!!!! I never thought about the old swedish fire torch inside the firebox...gonna try that...How are you coming along on the Ti version of the 5" firebox?
Steve, it's pretty cool how these tests you do are like a combination of marketing, R&D, and customer service for Firebox Stoves, all wrapped up in one. Do you write off all those steaks, eggs, and potatoes as business expenses? Haha, thanks for another interesting test.
@@fireboxstove Hey Steve, yep i agree with coloradocamper, your videos are very cool. :) I do have question though, - do you have a european based outlet/vendor? Transatlantic shipping from the states would be nice to avoid, if possible. For several reasons. :)
That looks tasty! Really, enough for three people? Hah! So it looks like about 2" diameter sticks (4 of them) is the secret. No real need for the smaller pieces on the outside it seems. Works excellent as far as I can see. Will have to try that also. What knife were you using this time?
I want ti try a large log split in quarters, then turn the corners out to match the shape of the fire chamber. and the rounded sides inward to create the hole in the center. Good times!
Hey, thanks for the video. I recently got the firebox nano and I'm excited to use it a bit more. I have used it only once so far. I notice in your video's you use fire starters to get the swedish torches going. I didn't use this method as I felt like I was cheating, but I did find it difficult to get going. Basically I had to light our camp fire and get some hot coals going then drop one down into the center of the torch and blow air to get it to catch. Any chance of doing some vids on getting the swedish torch going without a fire starter? Anyway, so far I'm happy with the nano though.
I am glad you are happy with your Nano! That is great to hear and I appreciate the feedback and video suggestion. I will look into getting one of those done. Glad you eventually made it work with the Swedish Fire Torch. Thanks for watching!

I love how you've taken your viewers along the journey
Thank you, it is part of the experience for sure and we are so thankful for our customers and support.

Thanks Chris!

Good idea Steve! So obvious I overlooked that method. More fun to look forward to with my Firebox!
Hi Glen, You'll love It. Right up your alley.
Thanks for the comment!
Excellent, can't wait to try it out myself, this Firebox is soooo versatile. Glad I have one.

Hi Steve, interesting to see how your kit has evolved and developed over the past 5 years!
It is true, things are always changing and developing here. I like to find the best way to do things and most practical. Thanks for watching Fred!
What type of wood smokes least? Clean burn.
I’m going to pack my G2 full and see if I can get a similar burn time. Man that food looks good.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed watching! Let me know how it goes.
This was wonderful! Send me a Firebox NOW! I'll test it for you in Mexico, lol just kidding! But excellent test :D
I'll give you a good deal Alba. Email me when your ready.
FireboxStove I did :)
Another awesome technique and meal Steve,,,, I really hope that I put on too much weight, when I start using my FB,,,!!!!
Joshua
Lol it would all be good weight, right? Thanks Joshua!
Eureka!!! I never thought to do the swede burn... absolutely genius! I
My Pleasure Sean! I'm glad you like it and hope you have a great time trying it out!
An hour of burn time on one load! That beats a gas or alcohol stove hands down.
+Chris Lloyd It really is awesome! I love the Swedish method! I cooked for my whole family using it: ua-cam.com/video/hfE81UDZrS4/v-deo.html
Depends on the scenario.. longer burn, wood burn is best.
I noticed that it started creating a lot of smoke when you put that damper up. Covering the two gaping side holes is a better idea.
Hey Steve any plans of making the firebox g2 stove in titanium???
Nope, It would be too expensive (at least $175) and would still be considered heavy (at about one pound) simply not feasible.
I’d pay for it, can get a special order??
wow good video!!!! I never thought about the old swedish fire torch inside the firebox...gonna try that...How are you coming along on the Ti version of the 5" firebox?
The Ti 5" is still in the plans but keeps getting pushed back because it's viability is questionable. Sorry.

Is it my imagination or does water boiled in metal containers with fire heat make better tea than water boiled in a plastic electric kettle?
Sounds right to me 👍😎
