    I’ll give you the info you are all looking for .The truck was originally a tandem tractor with the five speed . The rear is out of an older single axle tractor that was turned in to a dump truck . The motor blow on the old truck so I made this one you all see now .cut the tandems out ,swap body and rear from the old one . Now with the lug in 5th is because of the old air to air in front of the rad is probably leaking and needs a core .that would be my start !

  • @Motoracer0172

    Check how fuel pressure you have while idling. Then check if it raises while on throttle. Could be as simple as clogged fuel filter, spring return, clogged air filter. Lot of times guys over look the boots on turbo piping and while you think u may not have a boost leak, the smallest leak will cause that issue.

    What's up driver, your little Mack is cool. I would invest in a swing tail gate, it makes life way more easier, trust me. I won't own a dump without one, you can haul and dump anything without having major issues. Maybe try some fuel injector cleaner and dump some oil in the fuel to help lubricate the pump. The way they condition the fuel now a days it doesn't burn hot enough for the older truck engines. I even do it in my pick up truck's, the old Ford's with the 7.3 diesels. Stay safe out there my friend and keep the videos coming and always travel safely catch you on the next one.

    Check your Pollution control valve routing (Puffer Valve). It wont let the fuel rack fully open until the turbo has created a certain amount of boost. There were a couple ways to tune/"delete" the pcv entirely while leaving it in place. I believe you could use a penny to block off one of the airline restrictions. Youll get more bottom end power but also easy to overfuel cylinders.

    • @oscarhansen9584

    The DM 237 I drive wouldn’t spool up the turbo quick and it kills it on the mountains.
    There is an air line that goes to the fuel pump I believe, it’s a puffer valve and it would restrict the fuel until the turbo spooled up and got the RPMs back to 1600. My uncle plugged it and it lets it have fuel before that turbo spools up, makes it smoke but boosted the HP in that critical moment.
    Worth looking at
    Maybe you’ll see this it’s been a year haha anyway keep on keeping on

  • @59Mack
    @59Mack Рік тому +1

    Like mentioned, no smoke, not enough fuel. Install pressure gauge after lift pump and hang on air cleaner so you can monitor while driving. I had similar issue and lift pump was just bad enough it lost pressure under load. Puff limiter? It pulls fuel until you build boost. Many unhook it but will smoke bad(not good if you have e check). Small air cylinder on front of injection pump with line on it.
    Jake switch, yes just adjust it until works properly. No biggie.

    You said in a different video that the engine was replaced. The truck should have had a 2 valve E6 285 with a engine mounted charge air cooler. It looks like the truck now has a e6 4v engine with CAC mounted in the front. The 5 speed trucks usually were matched with a low rpm power band that produced torque from around 800 rpm to 2100 rpm hence using the 5 speed.
    The econodyne was designed to be a low rpm engine power band typically designed 1200 to 1800 rpms.
    I think the engine set up is not match to the drive train

    • @Autocar87
      @Autocar87 Рік тому

      I also saw the econodyne emblem on the hood and said uh oh to myself if it truly is an econodyne under the hood mated to a straight 5 speed. Easiest way to tell is if it pulls to 2100rpm it’s not an econodyne. Being air to air does not mean it for is an econodyne, but it could be. If it only pulls to 1800rpm then it is. But even if it is, it should be able to pull 5th gear in an empty single axle truck.
      I’d be looking into the boost line to the air/fuel ratio valve on the pump and puff limiter. Sounds like the afc isn’t getting a good boost signal to let the rack go to full fuel, or the diaphragm is leaking and therefore the rack isn’t going to full fuel.

    • @Only4Trucks
      @Only4Trucks  Рік тому +1

      I think you are exactly right! I said the same, the thing that gets me is my friends and family who drove this truck over s decade ago swear it used to be plenty fast and never had this lagging lug issue. But I question if they just thought it was fast back then when it wasn't because of the time change now a days things are much different. But I don't know. We will look over a few things and attempt to make upgrades but no matter what we still plan to change the transmission anyway. We have an 8ll here we might stick in it but we haven't decided for sure

    When you’re on the hammer trying to accelerate in 5th, is it rolling coal or not? If it’s rolling coal, you’re getting the fuel just not enough air, clogged air filter, or a boost leak. If no black smoke, then it’s not getting the fuel, clogged filter, throttle linkage not going to full fuel on the injection pump, or something along those lines. Let me know.

    What engine? Cummins has what’s called an aneroid valve cat calls it a AFR either way there’ll be a boost reference line going to a valve on the pump that give the engine more fuel as boost comes up

    I don't hear the turbo spooling. Sounds like it's suffocating a little, like an air issue. Filters or turbo. Or the gear ratio is not matched!!

      To get the rpm's down faster to be able to shift sooner. It keeps she wheel speed up. If you were running up a hill or with a heavy load you wouldn't make the shift any other way

    First you need to learn to drive with your rpm gauge and not your speedometer that truck is fine it's a 5 speed it has long winded gear changes and stop revving the motor up so much did you learn to drive in south America that's how they drive constantly revving the engine
