This video made me almost cry. It’s utterly heartbreaking to hear that hair loss is so distressing that this guy resorted to hormone replacement therapy as a cis-male just to save his hair. The lengths people will go to not feel alien in their own body is should be a testament to how AGA is not simply a cosmetic disease that can be brushed off. It ruins people’s mental health. It destroys men’s lives before they even become fully grown adults, and I wish science would spend more time and effort looking into treatments. I fear this man did irreparable harm to himself, and while I don’t blame him as I share that same level of body dysmorphia, it’s truly heartbreaking the lengths we go to save our own psyche.
Some people find their hair to be very important to them. It's worth being made aware of the risks, and I think he was. I certainly wouldn't tell anyone to go that far but it's worth documenting.
I think insurance should cover transplants as a part of mental health coverage. Some people are so depressed that they wouldn't leave the house. Others are so stressed out when their hairs are exposed.
@@OhgodImtoosexy that's a considerable argument. There are many cosmetic issues and even some minor medical issues that don't reduce life span directly or if at all, and they aren't covered by insurance. I've seen people make the case for jaw correction surgery. Health insurance companies are more inclined to accept that because there could be impacts to physical health there if you have poor jaw alignment

Bro how long does it take the dutasteride to work for hair loss or build up in system to have the effects for nuking DHT in scalp I have shifted from fin to dut and shedding heavily would the hair come back? If I continue the use of dut per day without taking fin every Day with it or if I need to take din with dut how long should I take it ?pls answer@@Kyle_Bu
I wish I could post my results of using topical finasteride/monoxidil/ with retinol three days a week 2x daily, and three days a week oral Finasteride (3mg a week) along with micro needling twice a week. I have more hair than I had in my twenties! From front to back my hair is thick and my hairline is very strong. I have many photos tracking the progress. People that last saw me a year before were in shock and assumed it was hair transplant surgery.
I think whether one gets regrowth or not on meds after full miniaturisation depends on the state of stem cells in and around the hair follicle. If most of them survive you get immediate regrowth after you stop DHT from inflicting further damage. But if those cells die as the miniaturisation occurs there's just no physiological mechanism of bringing a hair back from vellus to terminal even in the absence of DHT. It's just a conjecture of mine, the reality is likely more complicated.
You're right. The stem cells in the dermal papillae being active can dictate how much regrowth you get if any at all. I think we need to work on a way of boosting their activity
Hair loss has several causes, one or more of which may be playing a role at any one time. Of course, if the stem cells are damaged then the hair cannot regrow. But for the most part the stem cells are the least of your worries; they stay in the skin even when the hair is completely gone. The real problem is reduction in things that (potentially) signal to the stem cells to proliferate - including dermal papillae, the arrector pili muscle and dermal adipose tissue. Funnily enough detachment of the arrector pilli muscle could play an important role in reversibility. In 2014 it was found that in AGA (and only AGA) this muscle gradually gets replaced by fat, and detaches from hairs in a follicular unit one by one. This could explain why hairs in a follicular unit do not generally miniaturise all at once. It could also explain the difference to alopecia areata, in which miniaturisation happens to the whole FU at once - and is fully reversible. As the arrector pili muscle attaches to the stem cell bulge, it was suggested that there could be some sort of signalling between this muscle and the bulge stem cells relevant to regeneration.
This topic does raise an interesting question. I also use a very similar stack with spiro and e, however I also would consider myself nonbinary or trans. I think the transness and therefore dysphoria was always there albeit repressed my entire life, or bound to be. In retrospect, the physical aspect of balding drew it to the forefront and forced me to do something to change my appearance to avoid constant suffering. Nope. If you have these issues on Finasteride then you have other issues with drugs in your life. Finasteride has been around for decades, there's no instance of it destroying kidneys and livers.
you had underlying kidney issues before starting the drug. FInasteride probably sped up the time you would otherwise get symptoms in. Be thankful to Finasteride for showing you there is something wrong with your kidneys.
FYI its dutasteride not fin but my comment will be a reference here incase anybody has same symptoms
@@mohammedelqahtani3843 even dutasteride. You have some serious issues with your kidneys if you're going to blame dutasteride. Get them checked out
