There is so much energy moving through that lineup. Its an absolute wonder more people haven't passed away there. The geology of the place is insane too. I went there on a low tide day and the reef has these mushrooms and crators...it looks like moon rock. and the waves do not come towards the shore like a normal surf spot, they sweep sideways like a giant version of rincon or J-bay. Definitely designed for big waves.
Maverick is usually not more than about 20' high, but waves break right on top of each other and then crash into a rocky area before a cliff and that is where the danger lies. I lived right above there for about 30 years and used to walk down and sit on the cliff above to watch them surf. After a storm at sea, the wave could reach close to 40' max, but that wasn't usual. But people would hear about it from Hawaii and come in to surf when there had been a storm at sea and the waves were at their max. They started calling it "Mavericks" and even "Mavz" now, but the regulars never called it that for many years while I was living there. I moved away in 1998 but not before a couple of lives were lost. And I hear there have been a couple of deaths since that time. The wave MAY have gotten a bit bigger because the volume of water is increasing as the icebergs and glaciers melt in the north, but it is the condition of the bottom that makes the wave tall, as well as a storm at sea bringing in more water. But Maverick can LOOK like it's 60' high when it's about to come down on you! It is NOT a smooth-rolling wave, it drops off quickly into rocks and up into a cliff and can certainly be dangerous at times. And water can weigh many tons when it is crashing down on you, and it can break bones and even kill.
Hot Damn! Said, my name! It's me, goofy foot, just like- I, typed! 1:54 frame set-- Paul = PK! Locals at Maverick's, never curse, like that? Rothman- VOIP! OOPs, sorry, I forgot-- your name- man! Not Rothman!
Look, you recorded, an old school, illegal Quicksilver video! Music! Q= Chinese Army! Now, played a song, from a Japanese- video, you called: Waimea Bay? = Japanese, already!
Pin pointed, Power lines! That background, isn't in Maverick's-- area of surf! TV tubes-- from another subject! Hmm, it seems, a bit lawyerish? Suttle but, dumb act!
Music in, the background = A TV tubed, false video-- Titled: Waimea Bay? Japan's largest airport! And Hawaii -- Japan's death penalty / gay acts! You say, Hawaii a lot! Not video--- TV!
Unreal I really like it that it was not overly edited and that the shots were from the lineup and the cliff. And no Obnoxious music just great video

200 in the lineup and 5 can actually surf it, at least from what I could actually see.
Looks small on my phone lol
all that great footage...
can anyone say, STEADY CAM...
then the footage would actually be usable.
but, way to get in the line up.
Pin pointed, Power lines! That background, isn't in Maverick's-- area of surf! TV tubes-- from another subject!
Hmm, it seems, a bit lawyerish? Suttle but, dumb act!
I can't stand it when the guy on the inside fades the guy who took off deeper by not make a good enough drop/bottom turn why why why
