Known as OceanGate’s Titan, the vessel set out on June 18th to explore the remains of the Titanic. It is a submarine that can hold five people and dives with a four-day emergency oxygen supply. Unfortunately, contact was lost after only two hours. Per the United States Coast Guard Captain Jamie Frederick, five passengers were on board, including an operator and four mission specialists.
The former pilot-turned-businessman Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and Suleman Dawood, French diver Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and finally, OceanGate CEO and founder Stockton Rush were a part of the crew. Coincidentally, Rush’s wife, Wendy Rush, the director of communications at OceanGate is the great-great granddaughter of Isidor and Ida Strauss, who were passengers on the Titanic when it sank more than a century ago! A weird case of life coming full circle at you.
As for Suleman Dawood, this young, beautiful soul wasn’t supposed to be on this vessel. He was “terrified” of boarding the Titan, but he eventually ended up doing so after the insistence of his father on Father’s Day. A decision which proved terribly miscalculated.

With all the rumors floating around, what's your take on the fate of the submersible? 🤔
You know what else is ironic...the name of the submersible, "Titan." Back in 1898 someone wrote a book about a ship called, "Titan" that sunk. First the Titanic sunk in 1912, and now the Titan submersible. Strange that nobody mentioned that. May those poor 5 men rest in peace.
I think the submersible was called 'Titan,' which is kind of like the name of the sunken ship Titanic, since it was basically used to take people on tours of the wrecked ship underwater. Seems like just a random coincidence to me.
