First show: Nile came to my hometown. They play Lashed to the Slavestick, went into the pit, smashed my jaw into another bloke's forehead, broke two teeth, called mom, went to dentist with mom at 2 am. Would do it again, mom wouldn't.

I can’t relate to this at all as I was lucky enough to grow up in a household full of music, my dad listened to all sorts- he’d always take us, a lot of the times because he’d be going to the gig anyway! He died a couple months back but right to the end he was still looking for music to get into- he became a fan of prog metal in later life, got into stuff like Opeth just a few years ago in his 60s , had the biggest record collection of anyone I know
This is horribly familiar... 🤣 I'm so glad the internet wasn't about in the late 80s so my mum couldn't look up song titles. I'd have hated trying to explain 'The Headless Children' to her. "Yeah, but muuum, it's not actually about children who have been decapitated...yeah, it is that band wi' t'singer wi' t'exploding codpiece...but muuuum, they're really good..cool, yeah, can you pick us up?...I know, but they're not playing Bratfud..." 🤣🤘

My parents took me to my first proper metal concert. Napalm Death at the Wulfrun Civic Centre in Wolverhampton. I got kicked in the forehead in the pit. Had an amazing time. They managed to get locked in a shopping centre as it was closing.
