ua-cam.com/video/kaTSIKU2SLA/v-deo.html Here's my video on correcting color on the DJI Air2S using a proper color chart for more objectivity. Increasing saturation and contrast arbitrarily is the way I did it back in 2015 when I didn't understand how to correct log footage. The method presented makes camera engineers cringe. Watch my video to see a more correct way to do it.
Over the past few days I have watched so many videos on grading drone footage that I've literally lost count. I couldn't follow any of them at all and even the so called supposedly simplest video was near impossible to understand. This video is literally a breeze of fresh air! Absolutely everything has been taught in very simple terms and it's really really easy to follow. Thank you so much for such a fantastic video tutorial. It's so very much appreciated.

Perfect return. You were losing me, Stewart. Solid knowledge and a great tutorial...I have a bunch of M2P footage that's been waiting for this particular post. Thanks so much.
I am very new to post processing and have been very overwhelmed by it. Thanks for breaking it down to make it much more understandable. Now I need to figure out how to do this with Premiere Elements. I hope I can find some videos where someone can explain it this well while using PE! Thanks so much!
I remember seeing this video when it was first published. At the time, I tried to stick to the "procedures" you outlined. Over time, I got away from this work flow. I watched the video again yesterday because I was struggling a bit with grading an evening shot. Getting back on track here really helped with my work. In particular, after using the curves, I really did not have much grading to do at all. I got a cleaner result. Great job.
It's funny how I've already learned this stuff, yet watching it from someone else makes me feel a stronger sense of discovery and gratification I felt when I was learning it by myself through experimentation. I already was familiar with photography and editing, so I was applying it to the drone footage. The information just hits differently coming from someone else and I feel even more pleasure. 😁
Stewart explained the concepts as well as the procedure. I am new to the game and use Davinci Resolve so a different editor. I have watched a number of colour grading videos and this is the only one that resonated. I'm not good at it yet but my videos are better because of the advice in this video.
⚠️Your videos are simply a must for anyone who does do video editing and drone work!⚠️ ⚠️Top of the line tutorials, congratulations and thank you‼️👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
I've seen more color grading and correction videos than I can count and I try to focus on FCPX editors. This is hands down the best explanation I've seen!! Thank you!!
thank you bro, this video is very helpful. increase my knowledge in the world of editing. even though I've been in the editing world for more than 15 years, thank you very much
Cant understand why anyone would thumbs down this video, by far the best Grade/Correct tutorial I have seen. Clear, concise without over complicating, Thank you
Thanks for this! I was so lost after moving from the Mavic mini to the Air 2S and getting into DLog. This cleared up a lot and answered all of the questions I had.
I find this kind of videos very useful and easy to understand and assimilate, I have learned a lot by applying the techniques you teach in your channel, greetings from Latin America, Uruguay, from the department of Florida.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Useful video....I had always being doing it the other way (ie LuT first) but now I can see the sense and logic of adjusting first before adding the Lut thanks Jerry
Thanks Steward, the hue, saturation, luma was so intimidated to me... but you are the first one, who explain it so simply... Thank you again! By the way, i like your tutorial
Being colourblind, i've always been nervous about colour grading. This though, this i can understand perfectly. Now if only Fife weren't so grey and windy I'd maybe get some footage WITH colour to correct and grade.
Amazing video and you're very talented in editing! THANK YOU! Could you make a video tutorial for using DaVinci resolve (If you use that) if not what software would you recommend to edit videos (mainly drone footage)? Also, I know it's a big ask but you've been the clearest and easiest UA-camr I've found (that also has talent in colour grading) but a full step-by-step tutorial on how to use said software, would be really appreciated! Again thank you for posting this great video
Another great video, thanks! I had just watched a similar video from another UA-camr that was color correcting and grading footage from an alley way shoot from a stationary camera. He also went with the orange and teal look and used grading to show how to bring some true yellow back to a few key elements on screen. Between the two of you, I've gained a much better understanding and a lot more confidence in my color correction and grading.
I love the correcting the white and black to an objective 0 and 100. I'm new to this is that feature available in DaVinci? With the graph that shows 0 and 100, I haven't seen that explained elsewhere and that's the biggest help so far
Thank you for the great information. It’s obvious you’re very intelligent and it’s great for you to explain this information so it’s easy to understand.
Hi, I'm DJI Mini 3 Pro pilot and new in drone log profile. My question, is there any log correction profile from DJI that can be applied to get more accurate result and save more times on this step? Thanks!
Hi Stewart, this vid is really helpful thx. Can you tell me what format you export your drone films to for the lovely crisp picture you achieve on UA-cam? Thx
God bless you brother! I loved this tutorial! Funny with the part about the HUE vs HUE where you said it might look intimidated... it was to me until you explained it. Then I tested it with my footage and wow QUALITY of footage improved a LOT!
Great work Stewart, I do find most other UA-camrs show Luts as the miracle cure for bad footage - just throw a lut at it and bad footage becomes Hollywood blockbuster footage. Coming from a more traditional film photography background myself, I experienced a similar attitude as digital cameras started to take over. I noticed the tendency to take snapshots, thinking that Photoshop will fix anything. But, the fundamental principles of traditional photography are still relatively today - composition, exposure, a reason for taking the shot in the first place. These are all things that can be done in camera, dramatically reducing time spent in post production - down to a simple colour correct. I apply this to my digital photography and in most cases, a simple level adjustment is all they need.
This is excellent, thank you. I like to trim out unwanted footage and trash it in Quicktime before opening FCP but there is a problem using H264 and CineLike. Quicktime doesn't recognize this combination; others on the DJI forum have had similar problems. Do you use something to cull the footage you don't want before editing to save some space on your HD?
Awesome fundamentals explained there - i was waiting for you to throw a shape mask on for the sky.... because the horizon is always in the same place (unless you get on the pitch dial) - so you can effectively dial in a grad ND look for the sky (if it suit your aesthetic)- but that might be par tof module 2. love your presentation style and clarity.
hey we will shoot a car video in a week. Should i shoot in dlog on the dji air2s or on normal. Ive saw a video where someone said dlog can be tricky and make you have pain in the ars at night ect.... Ist this falls or should i realy use the normal mode if i dont want to spend days on grading and color correction?
Like#74 !! New subscriber here,,and Hello from Tennessee! Thank you for helping us attain a better viewing experience with our drone videos. Just downloaded Filmora X and a few of their effects package. Cant wait to try out this new software. Thanks again Stewart! Keep the videos coming!
This is brilliant thanks a million, simple direct, to the point and the pace was perfect to keep up with. In terms of a full video with multiple clips, is it the case that after colour correcting each clip individually, I could expect to get away with applying a grade to a single adjustment layer and have it span the entire timeline?
Just tried my first shoot using dlog. It was shoot with a mavic 3 h264 dlog. Any special codec needed to open a dlog profile compared to a ’normal’ profile? Couldnt find any info when i googled, but you might have an answer.🙏🏻
Now I understand where I have been going wrong. Problem is I generally shoot in normal and lots of golf course footage, the greens are all over the place due to sun coming out and going in and shadows from the trees etc. Guess there is no silver bullet
This is by far the clearest explanation I’ve seen on grading.
Minutes to learn, a lifetime to master…

This has been the most worthwhile 8 minutes and 53 seconds I've spent on UA-cam in a long time. Great tutorial! Can't wait to apply the knowledge.
Great video!! No time wasted, straight to the point and fantastic explanation of curves. Thank you so much!
lots of time wasted, but good explanation. Although he didn‘t even tell us what software he used
Finally. A color correcting/grading video that is understandable and doesn’t leave me feeling inadequate.
Finally, I watched a proper final cut color correction lecture. Thank you very much.
Hi Stewart, impressing short tutorial for quick action after D-Log. What I didn't understand is which colour correction and grading software you use.
I am very new to post processing and have been very overwhelmed by it. Thanks for breaking it down to make it much more understandable. Now I need to figure out how to do this with Premiere Elements. That's so good to hear!
Greatest and best video to demonstrate how to do color grading and color correction 🤙🏼
Color Correct BEFORE Color Grading... Incredibly well explained, thanks for this lesson.
I lost count of how many times I said "Ohhhh!" haha... Excellent tutorial ~ Thank You so much! Cheers!

Highly informative. I’ve been watching videos for the past 5 hours for tips and tricks. Best 8 minutes
Oh wow & many thanks ... fantastic info.... now I can apply the techniques in Da Vinci Resolve 18
Have been out of the loop for a few months and trying to get back and catch up so as always, THANK YOU for a great tutorial.

I totally agree with the other comments. This is game changer although I've been doing this for years. Bravo. Can't wait to try with my new head.
Best explanation on YT - thank you
I must say brilliant. As usual. Short and clear. Good Job. 👍🏻

He does say Final Cut Pro 10 🤷♂️
Amazing info, finally found a good video that properly explains how to color grade. Thank you!

For some reason I thought you were going to use a LUT 😀 This way is better to learn.
🤯 Thank you so much! The best explanation of this topic I've ever seen.
Great tutorial, the interface used is simpler, hope not to get lost while using premiere pro. Thanks a lot for the tips.
Thanks!
Thanks man,, this video really helped with my understanding of video editing…
Great video very helpful. So you suggest we color correct then put the LUT on? Or vice versa?
Thanks. This time the pace of the speech was slow enough to make it clear for non native english speakers too.
Thanks
As a beginner to Post editing, this was really insightful and well explained! Thankyou and keep up the good work!
Damn dude! Have struggled with colour grading air 2s flat profile, but you made it very easy with this tutorial😁👍 Thank you👍
Yeah, that was the catalyst for this video. The 'trick' to the Air 2S footage is the curves adjustment.
Hi Stewart, this vid is really helpful thx. Can you tell me what format you export your drone films to for the lovely crisp picture you achieve on UA-cam? Thx
Excellent video! Nice to start to understand how it all works and works together! Thank you!

Will these work in Filmora X. Can you explain grading in that?
Hell yeah dude this video is a huge help! I (and many others) appreciate it

Thank you for this explaination. I was struggling with editing videos and this is very helpful.
Super helpful! I just want to rip but I love showing people what I see and def want to make it look good!
Thanks for helping me better understand this part of the workflow!
Really well explained! Thank you!

Brilliant!
So much confusion vanquished yet again!
Thank you!!!
Hey, great video, cant wait to try it out. Didnt get the editor in which you are showing the examples?
Thanks for this video! It really helped.
Brilliant! I will definitely use this in defining a standard post process for my HLG clips and HDR10 vids.
You had my curiosity. Now you have my subscription.
Awesome tutorial mate. Just awesome. Clear and to the point. Learnt a lot. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant. I always did this backward, and couldn't figure out why my footage was so bad.

Does it matter the order of the adjustments in the "inspector" panel ? Should you add a lut before the exposure and saturation adjustments ? Thanks.
Best explanation. Love it 👌🏼
Great video, this is very useful information for anyone who wants to edit their video's properly. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Ron! Good to still see you here!
That was so clearly explained. Thank you.
Amazing content. Thanks for sharing. It is so satisfying using this process!

Thank you so much for this!
Great job! I always get excited when you upload a new video :)
Thanks For This Video. It Was So Simple And Easy To Understand
I love your Tutorials. You are the greatest. 😀👍
Can you not skip the colour correct step if you use dji dlog to Rec 709 conversion lut ? Then make some tweaks
You're a good teacher
I've seen other drone videographers talk about needing a "Rec 709" LUT to edit D-Log footage. Is that not something you use or recommend?
Dropping the knowledge, thanks Stewart 👍
You are thee BEST! Thank you so much my friend 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Just tried my first shoot using dlog. It was shoot with a mavic 3 h264 dlog. Any special codec needed to open a dlog profile compared to a ’normal’ profile? Couldnt find any info when i googled, but you might have an answer.🙏🏻

Great stuff, especially the front end take home point. 😊
I’m so big fan sir must information video thankyou
Amazing insights thank you so much
Very nice, I was kinda scared about grading and corrections, now I am not 🎉
Thank you for this great video and content. What video editing software did you use in this video?
Wow simple and explained very well! Thank you!
Invaluable, thank you sir!
Interesting explaination. Thank you. I think saturation especially adds a lot in videos. Love your accent. I guess it’s scottish!!
Why isn't the first step to apply a DLog to 709 LUT? Wouldn't that get you closer to the color correction starting point?
HELLO. Can the 1st generation M1 macs edit shots from DJI Mavic Air2s or Mavic 2 Pro? And if so, do we need the 16GB RAM or is 8GB enough?
Fantastic video! Made it so easy to understand 👍
