Isaiah Washington is Putting NYC Hoops on His Back

- Isaiah Washington will be an incoming freshman at the University of Minnesota in the fall, but his game was uniquely forged in Harlem. Over the past year he took over a lion's share of the high school hoops hype with his unique style and New York showmanship.
Nicknamed "Jelly" for his smooth style of laying the ball in and feather soft finger rolls, Isaiah elected to remain in NYC for his high school career. That makes him an anomaly in the basketball world, as countless top talents from NYC schools have either enrolled at schools in New Jersey or in the New England Prep league.
Along the way he starred in tournaments like City is Mine, where top talent from the five boroughs square up. It has made him a legend at the age of 18, but the reality of his life is a bit more complicated, as he splits time between his grandmother's apartment in Harlem and his coach's apartment in the Bronx. For Isaiah, the gym has always been his home away from home, and becoming the next great NYC point guard was a rite of passage.

Cant wait to see this kid suit up for the Gophers. Took a lot of balls to buck the system and go to an up and coming team and coach. Gophers are right on the cusp of winning the Big Ten and Isaiah could be the piece needed. They returned every player but one from last years team who went to the tourney and it was their 6th man they lost,starting lineup is unchanged. #GoldenJelly
Idek Isaiah personally but I swear I be hoping for this dudes safety on the regular. It's tough out here in a lot of parts of NY, ya'll outside don't know cuz u think the whole shit been gentrified, and for the most part you right unfortunately, a lot of Brooklyn starting to get filled with yuppies but best believe there's still some parts in BK and especially up there in Harlem where our lives at risk every time we step into a potentially wrong hood. The last thing I want to see is someone like Isaiah lose his life due to him getting hit in some crossfire or getting poked up by some hating ass niggas. Big shouts to dude for putting my city back on this basketball map, and all the jellyfam guys really. They've made such an impact culturally for us, they had us out here all smoking fastbreak layups at the beginning when we was mastering it 😂 nah but fr tho, respect, and I really hope the best for him.
