I've been wanting this ever since you reacted to "Watch Over You" Myles is amazing and so down to earth! I hope one day you review "Words Darker Than Their Wings" live from Royal Albert Hall!
I remember the moment I discovered Myles and the Mayfield Four. I was 17 and there was a concert at Riverfront Park in Spokane. It was a weird lineup of bands, but enjoyable, and then Mayfield Four came on and blew the rest of them out of the water. The energy in the crowd surged up for the first time in the whole afternoon. When Myles started singing I was like, "Who is this guy? He should be a rock star!" And then he started in on a guitar solo and the kids lost their minds. I remember watching him play and praying that one day I would find something I felt as much passion for as he clearly did for music. I told my guitar teacher I'd seen the show and he said in his opinion Myles was the best guitarist working in Spokane. So happy for his continued success. Thank you, Elizabeth, for this interview and this whole interview series. Long, in-depth conversations like this are so appreciated.
We were lucky enough to meet Myles and Slash after their 2010 show in Edinburgh. Slash was signing autographs, Myles came over to chat with my daughter who was just blown away by how delightful he was. Modest guy with an enormous talent. My favourite live shows. Watching him be so emersed in the moment is a joy.
OMG Really!? He's an incredible guitarist right? I just listened to some songs from his first band Cosmic Dust recently which he was the lead guitarist. And those solos by Myles are insane! Myles might be the best vocalist/guitarist ever IMO.
@@jeremenelson8146 It's a shame that he doesn't use his guitar skills nowadays. I mean those advanced things. He does some awesome guitar playing in Alter Bridge, but still that's not what he's capable of. He has done some crazy guitar work as the lead guitarist of Cosmic Dust and Citizen Swing. Anyway Alter Bridge is still making music. Let's see :)
Wow, now that's an real honour! Myles is so great a singer and it's frankly mind-boggling that he can play so beautifully too. I may be in the minority but I actually prefer Myle's style of playing to Mark Tremonti's, purely because I respond to the emotion I feel coming through Myle's instrument. It really does sound like he has taught his guitar to sing too.
I was introduced to Myles and Alter Bridge by Elizabeth's "Watch Over You" reaction, and was blown away by his voice. Looks like the Charismatic Crew has produced another fun. informative conversation between individuals who are as charmingly real as they are freakishly talented. Friday now seems Myles away. 🤘

Myles is such an exceptional person. I vividly remember the first time I saw him live. He was touring with Slash and performing Guns n Roses stuff - I had no idea who he was, just super excited to finally get to hear GNR songs live. And then Myles started singing and I was like, OMG, that's how good these songs can sound?! But what made it special for me was this moment: The concert hall was packed full with grumpy looking men, not moving or reacting emotionally in any way, even when they played Sweet Child of Mine or sth. while I was just soo excited. Finally I made my way to the front bit somehow, where people where dancing and enjoying the show. And that very moment I emerged from the crowd and started dancing my ass of, I swear Myles looked at me smiling, even waved his arm at me with a gesture that said "You go, girl!". Needless to say, I feel in love instantly. Long story short, I haven't missed a concert with him since, be it with Slash, Alter Bridge or his solo gigs. He just has this aura of a really kind and special person. And he can sing, ofc.
I saw Myles for the first time with Slash in Stockholm. I made it to the front row and Myles was looking at me kinda a lot because we had really times of our lives - dancing and singing. But the most heartwarming moment was in the end of Starlight when he finnish the song, drums still on and I showed him 🫶🏻, he smiled put a hand on his heart and put thumbs up like he really appreciated we are there ❤ I love this human being to death

I like how this develops in a conversation rather than an interview with also Myles asking Elizabeth questions. That's the point when I get really interested in such formats (and why there should be more interviewers who are actually at least accomplished musicians).
What seems to set him apart from others is his complete lack of ego. At times it felt like he was interviewing you and he was genuinely interested in learning. What an amazing example of talent. They say to never meet your heros but I feel those that meet Myles would never be disappointed.

Love and know this man. Todd Kerns, the bassist for slash, is a close friend. Myles has blown me away for years. Nice, Coffee!! Good luck on tour and be safe!!
I'm a big fan of Todd ever since Age Of Electric were making noise on the Canadian Rock Charts. Really happy for his career to find a way to playing bass for Slash and Miles
It’s nice to hear a musician of his stature who is comfortable in his own skin and doesn’t have to drop an f-bomb every 5 seconds to bolster his rock star image.
@@kierangibson9103 The guys from the Slash-Lineup literally gave him the nickname Myles "Fucking" Kennedy because he apparently likes saying that one a lot.
I've seen him live a few times, he rarely talks in between songs, once it was such a contrast to the opening band, who were swearing after every song and during every heavier breakdown in the song.
I am SO STOKED to hear he’s working on ABs 7th album! Alter bridge music ranks pretty high on the list of meaningful musical influences from my youth. I hope they come back to Canada again soon
In the most hipster of ways I just want everyone to know I and we were watching Liz’s videos before she was interviewing vocal rock gods like James labrie and myles kennedy. Of all the click bait “vocal coach reacts” channels this is quickly emerging as the one to watch. Liz hosts a great series here. Star singers recognize the passion. Rando UA-cam cruises like me fawn over star interviews. And never would I have expected how fast two hours to by with literally every one of them. My employer is probably not happy. 😂
And yes. Elizabeth is special. She has this infectious positive energy that just brightens my day, and she really brings these guests out of their shells. Her Devin Townsend interview was epic, he is very humble and nice guy, but also pretty shy and awkward. Same with the singer from Jinjar who is well known for not doing interviews.
I've said before, I'll say it again- Elizabeth is the best interviewer out there. Each Tea Time Interview is more like old buds having a nice conversation than an interview. I had heard of Myles but could not place him until the busking clip. I've seen that. The info on allergies (my old friends) was very interesting to learn. I always learn something new! Awesome interview.
Not since Steve Perry as a teenager in the 80s has a singer affected me the way Myles does. I have such an emotional connection to his lyrics and the way he delivers a song. He is truly a gift to the Universe. Also, I spent many years living in Seattle. The Washington connection brought a big smile to my face.
Really looking forward to this! I hope Elizabeth asks whether or not Myles has ever met Kevin Bacon... I've yet to see them in the same room together... Just saying! If they have met I guess the rumors would be laid to rest.... Maybe. Intrigue aside... Myles is such a great interview. This should be a lot of fun!
Interesting how you talk to Myles about Emotion in Song's & how it effects people. I lost my 23 yr old Son & when I listen to Blackbird or Wonderful Life,, it's like a Key to the Soul that allows the pain to flow out. The Word's & the Melodies allows the Emotion out. It's Awesome.
A sign of a great interviewer is how much they listen instead of talking over their guest. Ms. Zharoff is the perfect example of listening. Fantastic interview.
I dont know if ive ever seen a more down to earth and normal guy!! Its so refreshing to see an absolute star, that is like talking to a buddy youve known forever. So grounded
I have ZERO musical ability but am so touched and affected by the power of music. I feel blessed that music creates such beautiful emotions in my heart and soul. I appreciate the gift of music in my life. Thanks to your channel for showing me there are others like me in this world!
The guitar player for Alter Bridge (Mark Tremonti) has also REALLY come into his own as a singer. “Dust” from his side project called Tremonti would be an awesome song for you to analyze, as he kills it in that song.
Greeeaaaat interview. As a metal/rock head it was really refreshing to hear Myles talk about the vocal aspect of things and how he approaches it so that was awesome. I would like to ask or recommend listening to a song called “White Flag” which Myles Kennedy wrote when he was in his old band The Mayfield Four. I’m more than positive that you’ll love it. They only released 2 albums but they’re really great from start to finish but that song in particular just sucked me in the very first time I listened to it.
What an absolutely fascinating & insightful interview. Thank you so much. Your next reaction has to be Words Darker Than Their Wings from the Royal Albert Hall. Three main reasons, they were performing with a 50 piece orchestra, the very high note & I was lucky enough to be at that gig!!!
If it wasn't for this man, I wouldn't be here today and I can honestly say that. Thank you for this interview, and thank you Myles for creating music that has helped millions of people 🙏🙏
Alter bridge is one of my all time favorite bands. Literally any band mark tremonti is in will be legendary. Miles has one of the most unique voices ever
That was absolutely fantastic Elizabeth. You have such a wonderful way with people. Myles continues to amaze just with a conversation. I loved it! Thanks to you and your crew for all the effort to make these moments come to life. ♥️
The song Myles Kenney sang with Saul Hudson (SLASH) that put him on my map was STARLIGHT. It is STILL ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS EVER ... Later on you played the Art Garfunkel to David Dreman's Paul Simon live and I actually got a lump in my throat. I love you buddy !!! Everything you sing is awesome !!!
I love how you end the interviews trying to let people know how best to support the artists Elizabeth (even if Myles here seemed a little too humble to mention the best way to buy albums or merch.) As a music lover with a huge album collection and tons of merch I really appreciate you always making that effort!
Just listened to the whole interview. Really great to geek out to Myles. Just a really natural chat between the two of you. Plus, as a million comments below… ‘words darker than their wings live’
what a cool and gracious guy. He didn't have to sit here and answer questions about his voice and he absolutely is an open book. So great. Thanks for interviewing him. Regarding monitors, The Beatles played to 60,000 at Shea Stadium in 1965 w/ no monitors. They weren't invented yet. It's amazing how much they stayed in pitch with each other.
Very excited for this interview, I got much more into music during my time in the Army and Myles quickly became one of my favorite vocalists to listen to. I’m also a big fan of guitarists so him paired with Mark Tremonti and Slash are perfect combos.
Been suffering from tinnitus since 2020. It can be difficult to deal with some days. Never goes away and I love music and singing etc.. Thank you for this interview that I am just seeing now. Love seeing the personal sides of these musicians.
AAAAAAA I am freaking out, this is gonna be a long 33 hours to wait! The Ides of March would be a great Myles track to fill the time with, or Anastasia of you wanna check out some of his Slash material. Thank you for doing this interview!
Thank you so much for the this wonderful interview with Myles. Myles is such a talented musician, guitarist and singer and he seems to be such a humble and genuinely lovely person. 😀👍
Well I love this dude even more now, great interview and was nice to hear some different questions from the norm. Myles, alterbridge (especially), slash and Co. Some of my favorite music and helped me through some fights with the monsters of my mind. They will always hold a special place in my heart. Love the music they've created over the years.
Until very recently, I couldn't imagine spending an hour and a half just listening to two such souls just gabbing about what they love, and a subject I know little about. Then, fast forward to this evening, and I can't believe it ended so soon. Thanks, Elizabeth, for making the effort and spending the time to introduce me to a part of a different world. Fun, informative, and certainly will be habit forming. Once again, after watching one of your videos, I'm off to search for Myles' stuff. I had barely started to plumb Ayreon!
Just saw Poppa Roach in St. Louis. Shinedown, Nothing More this summer as well. The emotion from the performers fills the venue. I LOVE seeing the crowd sing back and the lead singer almost burst out in tears! It meant sooo much to him (Johnny Hawkins of Nothing More). The cell phones lit up the stadium for Shinedown. We were screaming back at Jacoby! I love when the crowd gets engaged. You see the performers light up a little more. That is the happiest moments of my life. Music lifts me, and then I get to watch the performers get lifted. Music is my CHURCH. AMEN. 💛🤘🏻🥁🕊🫶🏻🎧
Thank you so much for doing this. Myles has been a huge influence on me for many years. As a musician, as a person, etc. I have admired him as an artist for almost twenty years and have modeled many of my personal musical styles after him. When I was 21, I attempted suicide and I listened to Myles’ music, everything from AB and Mayfield Four to just enjoying his solitary performances. He was the first artist I ever saw live and brought me to tears. That was 10 years ago and I can honestly say this music has saved my life. Thanks Elizabeth for interviewing such a lovely human and such a talented artist. And thank you, Myles for being a light to me in my darkest times and providing my life with inspiration when I thought I had none.
Two beautiful people here. Both inside and out. Been a huge Alter Bridge fan since 2006. Seen them 7 times since then, they've made a big impact on my life.
I have had the pleasure of seeing AB 3 times. Every single concert has left me breathless, all of AB is incredibly talented. I also loved "Year of the Tiger," and wish I could have seen Myles' when he was touring for that album. My first tattoo is a quote from Alter Bridge's song "Rise Today," and I sang their song In Loving Memory at a school talent showcase. Needless to say that Myle's is such an incredible writer, vocalist, and all-around amazing musician. Huge huge fan and so excited to see others experiencing them.
Awesome job. My son was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 12, and lost most of his sight. We’re a music family and he started drumming. At 18 he was accepted into the Berklee college of music and graduated at 22. He also took up guitar during that time and plays acoustic guitar/vocal gigs, and is also a music instructor now and writes as well. I love what Myles says about music being this ally through the dark times because I’ve seen this first hand. He too has taken the beast as Myles called it and turned in to a source of power and drive. It’s funny that he plays “watch over you” in his gigs but always jokes that if you want Myles Kennedy vocals not happening. lol. Thank you and Myles for the interview, and know that your music is changing peoples lives.
Going to see Myles and Slash in a few months! He does Axl Rose better than Axl Rose these days! Incredible voice and talent! Great tea time chat! Also great to hear he's working on the next Alter Bridge record, can't wait!
Love Myles. From Spokane myself so, always hope the best for fellow local musicians. 35 yr drummer around Spokane back in the day....it is a small word. Never knew, Elizabeth, you lived in Wenatchee. Went to school, Reardan, Wa. 70's.
He plays in my city, i'm giving him a hug. Miles, the vocalist, the guitarist. the driver of emotion. My dream is to one day just meet him. Such a... ah we know it will never happen. Keep up the good work and well done to "the charismatic voice" you interviewed the best vocalist in the world.
I am a long time fan of Myles and Alter Bridge and I love him for being such a humble sweet intelligent person. I saw them just before Covid19 arrived, in Amsterdam. I saw Queen with Freddy Mercury, U2 when they where not known yet, all the big metal and rock bands.....Myles and Freddy RIP stayed with me.
I’m not even gonna fix the typos and auto corrects. Live with it, UA-cam.
I was here before that too.
Myles Kennedy is the best.
Indeed! ❤
So grounded
Thank you Elizabeth and Myles, this was magical.
I have ZERO musical ability but am so touched and affected by the power of music. I feel blessed that music creates such beautiful emotions in my heart and soul. I appreciate the gift of music in my life. Thanks to your channel for showing me there are others like me in this world!
Imagine a Myles Kennedy and Devin Townsend collaboration, my all time favourite singers. That’s what dreams are made of…
This comment (finally) aged well, didn’t it?! 🤘
Lol! It’s happening 2024!
Now I wanna speak Myles and his friend Ian Thornley (big wreck) touring together into existence!
@@RB-oc7ti I know, dream come true, December can’t come soon enough! 🤩🤘
@@gregburcham1911 It sure did, almost as well as Myles and Devin 😂🤘
The guitar player for Alter Bridge (Mark Tremonti) has also REALLY come into his own as a singer. “Dust” from his side project called Tremonti would be an awesome song for you to analyze, as he kills it in that song.
LOVE that song!
Congratulations Elizabeth! Is awesome to see how much the channel has grown! Keep doing different interviews, they're truly awesome
Tinnitus is my buddy! I love it. It is accepting it rather than resisting it. 💛💛💛💛
Thoroughly enjoyable chat. Touched upon many areas that give rare insight.
Thank you both.
Our pleasure!
Myles Is The Best !!
Such a down to earth good dude !
Much love my brother !!
Keep On Rock'n & Roll'n and making Beautiful Music !!
😎👍🌴☀️🔥🎸🙏❤️✌️
Greeeaaaat interview. As a metal/rock head it was really refreshing to hear Myles talk about the vocal aspect of things and how he approaches it so that was awesome. I would like to ask or recommend listening to a song called “White Flag” which Myles Kennedy wrote when he was in his old band The Mayfield Four. I’m more than positive that you’ll love it. They only released 2 albums but they’re really great from start to finish but that song in particular just sucked me in the very first time I listened to it.
Miles you absolute legend I can’t wait to see alter bridge this December at the 02
What an absolutely fascinating & insightful interview.
Thank you for this interview, and thank you Myles for creating music that has helped millions of people 🙏🙏
I wrote this before watching the video and 20 minutes in, I'm crying. What.
Myles Kennedy: "I live to deliver." Enough said.
Thank you for this interview. Myles will go down as one of the greatest vocalists in rock history.
Alter bridge is one of my all time favorite bands. Literally any band mark tremonti is in will be legendary. Miles has one of the most unique voices ever
I'm so happy you got to do this interview. Myles is among my absolute favorites. He's on the Mount Rushmore of musicians.
Elizabeth is such a good interviewer. She’s really insightful, articulate, and comes off as a really soulful person. She’s also quite beautiful.
Gosh😳
I love how you end the interviews trying to let people know how best to support the artists Elizabeth (even if Myles here seemed a little too humble to mention the best way to buy albums or merch.) As a music lover with a huge album collection and tons of merch I really appreciate you always making that effort!
Anastasia is such a killer tune. Great interview.
I wasn’t aware of his music until you reviewed his live colab of Sound of Silence with Disturbed. Thanks for opening yet another door.
We do talk about Anastasia. You'll be excited!
@@TheCharismaticVoice Yaaaay!
@@TheCharismaticVoice Just watched the interview and wow, love it! Thank you for making this happen!
Thank you so much for the this wonderful interview with Myles. Myles is such a talented musician, guitarist and singer and he seems to be such a humble and genuinely lovely person. 😀👍
Myles is an amazing musician and an amazing person!! 🤟🏻 ️♥️
Well I love this dude even more now, great interview and was nice to hear some different questions from the norm. Myles, alterbridge (especially), slash and Co. Some of my favorite music and helped me through some fights with the monsters of my mind. They will always hold a special place in my heart. Love the music they've created over the years.
Same!
The conversation about emotions in music resonated with me as a fellow human. Thank you for your show. *high-fives*
I've had the pleasure of seeing Myles live with Alter Bridge and he is breathtaking. My personal favorite Rock/Metal singer of all time
Bravo 👏 👏👏 Thank you Elizabeth and Myles!!
Saw Myles in the movie Rockstar and then heard Metalingus and I was hooked . Also .. he’s great to listen to LIVE
Oh man my two favorite dorks together. This was just beautiful. I love talented and hard working people talking shop. Thank you for this!
As a fellow tinnitus sufferer, I loved the comments he made about it being like a constant companion ☺
I'm low-key half deaf from being close to the stage over many years of shows. XD
There's always the constant eeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeEeeEEE.
Myles Kennedy is a national treasure
I am Sooo beyond happy you got to sit down with Myles! This is amazing!
❤❤❤ got to see Myles play live, just love his voice and his spirit he puts into the 🎶 🎵
Just saw Poppa Roach in St. AMEN. 💛🤘🏻🥁🕊🫶🏻🎧

- Myles Kennedy, 2021
Her reactions in the conversation with a legend such as Myles are just sooo cute and pure, and honest it's just heartmelting. 🥰
Aww, that was so adorable at the end. He didn't wanna shill, he just wants people to listen to his music.
Definitely one of the most inspiring guys out there and so down to earth, just fantastic vibes all around.
I can’t wait! Such an amazing musician!
Going to see Myles and Slash in a few months! He does Axl Rose better than Axl Rose these days! Incredible voice and talent! Great tea time chat! Also great to hear he's working on the next Alter Bridge record, can't wait!
One great thing about this interview was the ficus on voice and vocal habits and choices, and impact.
Great interview and really skilled singer.
Their voices, their performances, it will stay special to me till I die. But first I want to see Alter Bridge many more times :D
Thank you Elizabeth for this and reaction videos on Myles. I had not heard his music before, now he is one of my favorites now. Love from India.
I could listen to the two of you forever. Such a relaxed vibe. 🩵
An hour and a half of you interviewing Myles? OMG, thank you! I'm gonna enjoy it.
What a great interview! Myles is one of the best, no doubt 👏🏼
