Little known fact, these cars chassis is made from reinforced steel, I rear ended someone at 80 mph, 60-65 at point of impact, just needed new rad, and panels, the chassis/engine was completely straight, solid as a rock, made from very very hard metal.
A couple of my best friends, my sister, my now wife (but girlfriend at the time) have all owned 1 of these 3rd Gen Preludes. I've always enjoyed driving them and was impressed with the features for the era. Earliest memory of 1 was when they were new, my father and his friend took 1 out for a test drive and put me in the back seat. Gave it a good hiding up and down the highway before returning it. I remember hearing that little 4 cylinder work hard. :). It's a shame so few have survived in good condition now. Very hard to find a good 1 today. Lots are relegated to scrap heap or starting to rust etc.. lot of young people bought them and used them up. I think they will become quite collectible in future.
Hey, I love these type of videos from you mate. Please keep doing them. I like these too. My favourite pop up head light car is the e31 BMW 8er. In face it’s my favourite car, full stop. :) I remember when I was 13, looking for cars to buy, these were so cheap back then.
I owned one of these beautiful cars. Exceptional view to drive of your environment, turned on a dollar coin and zipped along with spirit and handling ❤️ No issues and a great car 🚗 ❤️🦘🙏❤️🦘❤️🚗
I would love to drive this car again. My first car i saw that caught my eye was this car. 89 Red Si. That spoiler LED brake light made it look sexy when stopped. Flip up lights sound as mechanical orchestras shining a nice beam of light in the fog. Simple nice car.. missed that green light in the keyhole after lifting the driver door handle up.
Also the auto box on these cars had some sort of unique design feature which allowed super fast gear changes. And the engine is slightly tilted which drastically reduces the centre of gravity, the hight from top of wheels to top of bonnet/engine is barely 3-4 inches.
LOVE IT! I had a 4ws H Reg, I SOLD it back in February' 22. (£4300) It was one of the best i've ever had. If you thinking why i've sold it. I had a choice between, Honda Prelude mk3 1990 Toyota Celica mk1 1977 (ta23 TG)
I really like Hondas from late 80s. Exterior and interior look cool. Those cars ’ve got that 80s modern vibe even today. Espacialy in silver with black plastic accents. BTW. Front of Prelude INX looks quite like first Subaru Legacy or SVX.
I'm tempted to get one of these over a Toyota Celica MK4 as the Celica doesn't have a good market for parts unlike the prelude. I was hoping you would know if the car is appreciating in value or not?
Yeah it definitely is. Not as quickly as some other classics, but as it’s getting rarer and there’s fewer good ones around it’s becoming more valuable.
@@BrownCarGuy Yes I bought one on a whim way back second hand from a garage and just loved it. It died (rust, nowhere to keep but I did about 100k in it) Bought two off Ebay and now others are beginning to realise they are cool cars! Her's one of them ua-cam.com/video/jIswVW5iRlk/v-deo.html
Thank you for the good review. How would you compare this to the 2nd gen Prelude? Mostly in terms of performance, suspension, feel, driving dynamics, etc.
That was my very 1st car - the 1989 Honda Prelude S. Had it until it had over 200k miles. Very cool car, I just always wanted more horsepower.
Beautiful car, not flashy, not boring, just handsome and fulfilling
Exactly right!
My dads first car was a 1989 Honda prelude.

Wow!
I presently own the AT version of this car. 207k, still plugging away & its an absolute blast to drive.
Just picked up a 1991 with the rare black leather interior! Super excited!
Wow - that’s awesome. So jealous! Post a pic!
@@BrownCarGuy Actually posted a video recently of us getting it. Currently its sitting in the garage because Canadian winters suck!

Great stories. I think you're right about them being collectible. Do check out my story on DriveTribe.com. Link in info. Thanks!

Yup it's a sweet and memorable drive!
This car is so clean
Its hard to find a second hand car that clean tho
True, this was partially restored by Honda UK, but it is possible to find them, though very hard indeed. Which is a real shame. Good luck!
Amazing! I purchased a white on with 4WS auto last month. Lovely car to drive and own! Its the same age as me!
Many congrats! I’m envious. Enjoy!!

Knew about the engine, thanks for the info on the gearbox! 👍🏽😃
I bought a Hot Wheels Honda Prelude in yellow as part of the HW J imports series.
Great review! I have been driving my 91 Si since 2006. It's a great little car which has taken me all over the country. #preludepower

did you use the cigarette lighter as a charger or plug in?

Deffo going more expensive
I have two of these cars. Nothing better. However mine are earlier, cooler looking design from 1984-1987

The 2nd and 3rd gen are almost identical tho?
@@Tom-ro5lo not really though. Mk2 is squarer and perhaps slightly shorter. I wouldn't buy one tbh.

Do still have Cuberator for Honda Prelude 1989?
