Snow is one thing, but like you touched on, there are levels to it. If you are moving to Buffalo from outside of Buffalo, then you probably want to live north of that line you drew. People outside of Buffalo have a hard time understanding lake effect and how it works. I remember in the 2014 storm (I think it was 2014). Parents had 6ft in Cheektowaga, Sister had less than a foot in Lancaster/Alden
These city boundary lines go back to the stone age. All the first ring boundary, "so called" suburbs are an extension of buffalo which kicks up "the real" city population to 890,000 people that live in the first 167 square miles of a county that is 1,008 square miles county. Kenmore has more people per square mile than the north Bronx. South Buffalo has twice as many people per square mile than the north Bronx. Too many people
Exactly. I have a friend in Tonawanda who had green grass and bare sidewalks and streets in his neighborhood while another friend 50 miles away in Dunkirk was shoveling out under 18 inches of snow at the exact same time. I've noticed that the lakeshore and northern portions of Chautauqua County tend to get hit the same way Buffalo's Southtowns do.
Real estate is no longer a bargain in the City of Buffalo or in the suburbs. In the suburb of Williamsville for $300,000 you get a fixer-upper or tear down. The City of Buffalo is very segregated and the roads are fair to poor. The climate like the rest of the Great Lakes is nothing special to blah. It's not the cold or occasional snow that makes the winter uncomfortable but the strong winds that blow for much of the year. The Village of Williamsville and Cheektowaga are noisy because of the close proximity to the airport. Williamsville is known for its good public schools. Summers are often humid but nothing like the Mid-Atlantic region.
Born and raised in Buffalo. However, the first time I realized I could live outside of NY state was during my Junior year at Burgard. I moved in 2012 as it just wasn't for me.
@@mariaceballos8204 Much more "user friendly" in terms of lower cost of living, lower taxes, resulting in more disposable income to spend on my priorities instead of what "big brother" would have me pay for. There are other reasons, but let it suffice to say, its just easier to live here in Ohio.
From Buffalo here 🦬 watched this to learn how someone would describe our city to move to. Loved it man, appreciate how you spoke of it. And how it isn’t perfect!
I was born and raised in Buffalo New York actually Cheektowaga Went to School went to college I wouldn’t have done it any other way I loved Buffalo but I moved away for a job and never looked back
Public transportation is good but you cannot compare it to nyc. We are not nyc and don't want to be. You can get from point a to point b on the bus . Its good for getting you to work and home but if you want to go multiple places in a day it doesn't work. I live on the eastside but work downtown on the bus it take me an hour to get to work but in a car its 11 minutes.
Hey man, I’m a marine corps vet (34 years old) I have a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Buffalo State (University), an MBA in Human Resource Management from Niagara University, and am about to attend Canisius University in August for an advanced certificate in Global Supply Chain. You do really well w describing this city-and schools. Oorah.
That footage made the storm look not that bad. Elmwood by the 290 had waist deep snow and I am talking the middle of Elmwood. It snowed for 36 hours straight. With those higher taxes in Tonawanda you get some of the best services. The roads were cleared in 1 day after the blizzard. You will get police with in 15 minutes unless there was a big crime going on. Best trash services in the county. The only town with its own dedicated paramedics.
With all the apartments and condominiums downtown where is the retail???? Alot of great restaurants, bars and events. But we need clothing stores, home stores, something, anything!
I was a kid when the Main Place Mall was booming. Along with Kleinhans, AM&A's and LL Berger. Now that I live downtown, I'd love to see some retail. Instead I go out to the suburbs to spend my money. Anyway I love your honesty in talking about Buffalo. Your energy and enthusiasm is awesome!
Great video. But I think it would be great if you broke down how NYS sorts out towns and villages for the folks that might be moving in from other states that arent so wonky. Go Bills!
The only time I’ve been to Buffalo was in the 90s when I was a kid. I went up with my grandfather who’s from there. We got stuck in a snow storm. The snow was taller than me. Also I’m a Bills fan from NYC. The only real New York team.
Hey brother, I'm looking at potentially moving up that way near the end of the year. Is there a possibility that you help people find rentals as well? I'm in Southwest Virginia and there's no way I can travel back and forth trying to find a rental place and we both know what could happen if I blindly rent a place over the internet lol.
How bout that Christmas eve cyclone we had 2 years ago. Killed 54 people. I thought I was going to freeze to death in the house. And I was wearing several layers of clothes with a heavy coat and a wall hat. I rent and drafty windows. UGH!
I think you should've mentioned Hertel Avenue as on of the streets to hang out on! There's a bunch of places to chill out and the Italian fest just returned.
Hello Davis I will be in Buffalo for six months working for my company. That's why I'm following your videos with interest. They are very exciting and well done. Who knows maybe I will stay in Buffalo forever :) But now to my question. Were these snowstorms in 22/23 rather an exception or do you have these snowstorms every winter in this extent ? How big is the difference in snow mass between north and south? I would be extremely pleased about an answer.☺
Those snow storms were honestly one in a century storm, I have never experienced anything like that EVER. That was insane. Our winters are normally mild nothing over the top like that was
If you go across the Buffalo River you don’t ‘hit Canada; you’d still be in Buffalo! The Buffalo River’s Mouth leads to Lake Erie and the Niagara River.

You can also do a new build as well,
If you are looking to be more suburban

Watching wanting to move from Houston,Tx 🥰
Really? Why? Lol.. is it Houston so amazing? 😮😊

Born and raised in the city and there are a lot of great things about WNY, however.......the best thing I've ever done is move to Ohio.
Why is Ohio better?

The south towns get about 20-30 inches more than the north towns and city
Historic / century homes are drawing my eyes to Buffalo. Sad that people want cheaply made modern homes.
