They are called Bantu knots because long back in are culture the Nguni or the Zulu tribe..women with high status in the community used to wear it or do it...just like that long gold necklace u see pple wearing these days..it was a sign of wealth and status ...
She asked why they're called "chiney bumps" I believe
And kim k had the nerve to call them mini buns 😂😂😂😂
LoveYour Sign She can call
Em whatever she wants
Really? I've never head of that but kinda makes sense
I wonder if the ancient women wore their hair down and if it was super curly after? Wish I could see that
I swear you explain everything so well. You can teach someone how to tie freaking shoe laces, if they didn't know how. Thanks for simplifying bantu knots for me. Your video is my new go to guide 😬
Currently lmao at that shoe lace comparison😂🤣 but thanks love, that means a lot to me and I'm so glad you found this video helpful 😘
:) Yes... my bantu knots do not come out as well. Thanks to her I may have to try this way.
Agreed! She simplified the heck out of it..lol and I love that she did it more than once and we get a clear visual👌🏽
I know it as chiney bump too and I am from Jamaica
@@BellaMecia ❤️
My mom tells me all the time that in Jamaica they call them chiney bumps and I wouldn't believe. This is the first time I've heard someone else say that😂
Lmaoooo😩😭I know it's hella weird but it's the real deal love. We're just gonna have to get used to it…lol
Omg same! i said bantu knot and she was like huh?
I gotta switch and say chiney bumps when I'm talking to my mum
Same
In Antigua we call them “twisy” bobby
Your Bantu Knots are so juicy and neat. I haven't seen any that look this good. I'm in awe with how beautiful they are 😍
Awe, thank you love, I really do appreciate it! 😌😘
Right, the parting is so immaculate.
that "bruh" tho ,😂😂 a new sub
Lol..it was so necessary though, I couldn't help it 😩 but welcome to the family love. Kick your shoes off and make yourself at home, more shenanigans soon come 😜
😂😂😂
We just call them moñitos in the Dominican Republic 💀 I remember crying when my mom forced me to go to school with them
me too 😭😭😭😭
Oh no!
It’s cute.. the name...
In the caribbean coast of colombia we also call them moñitos lol
I know, I remember those days, used to hate when my mamá fixed my hair with them knots, I love them now! Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 I love you & miss you!!!
Heard Caribbean and was like "Yaaassss gurl!!!" I be repping Jamaica lol #subbed
Yaaasss love come thru, Caribbean girls do it best!💃🏾😜
Yassss BARBADOS REPPERSENT
y’all my dad from Jamaica, literally the only Carribean an island people know.
Belize 😌
GRENADA 🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩
As soon as you said chiney bumps I knew you were Caribbean! I think it's called that because the hair style is similar to Buddha's hair
Hahaha, yasss babe! That Buddha reference is interesting though🤔 Now I feel a little more empowered rocking chiney bumps as is😜
I'm Caribbean and I haven't heard of either. Though I've had that style before and since it's been four months of me and my natural hair I think its time I learn to style it and this seemed rewarding. Four days with bantu knowts, one with curls. That's five days of no combing. Yay!
First time watcher, and I have to say that I’m overly impressed with your clarity, simplicity and presentation.
I remember hating when my hair was in chiney bumps when i was little cause used to tease me. But now I love it so much
Chiney bumps!!where all my caribbean naturals at??😘😘❤❤
We call them knockers in New Orleans. My mom used to do mine like this when I was a kid. Yours came out PERFECTLY 😍
Thanks Babe! I actually like the name knockers for it. It has a cute old school flare to it that I love💞
Well im still a kid but my mom did me some in second grade and i didn't like it now im older i get more stylish
Was trying this out on my mixed race hair (Caucasian, African American, and Hispanic) and was failing horribly. Watched your video and what happened? Perfect one, instantly. Thanks!
You're most welcome love, I'm so happy to hear that! I don't know anyone that conquered bantu knots on their first try..lol. Trust me, I've had my fair share of big fails, but it feels good to know this video helped with that. Yayyyy…lol You'll be a pro in no time💪🏽😘
I have straight hair but it still turned out fine
We used to call them pepper seed in Trinidad =))
Trinigang
We call them pepper seed too in Guyana
Your parts are on point girl, yasss! This hairstyle fits you so well! Can't wait to give it a try 😍👌🏾
Lol thanks love, I appreciate it. I'm sure this style is going to look amazing on you too. Let me know how it goes😉
Girllllll, I tried this hairstyle yesterday. One word... BOMB💣 Like I got compliments left and right. I loved the way you broke this down, it made it so easy for me to follow along. Thanks for this!!!
Yayyy, this makes me so happy…lol So glad you found this video helpful love. Let me know if there are any other hairstyles you want me to help you slay this summer😜😘
They turned out good

Let me know if there are any other videos you would like me to create that you think might help you out even more. Btw I love Dubai, hope to visit someday🤗 Thanks for watching! 😘
Thank you so much! ill be looking out for them❤️ and you should totally visit!!
Bella Mecia hello! I've heard that a lot of people with Afro hair do Bantu knots at night so that their curls are more defined. I have wavy hair but really enjoy curls, do you think that if I do it everynight to have curls in the morning, will it be damaging?
What all do you do for your hair to get back right? I have heat damage too and on the right side curls are coming back but my left side is still struggling.
Yep same here my mum called these Chiney Bumps. Used to rock this all the time when I was younger xx
Samee I'm Jamaican and I've only ever called them Chiney bumps. My whole family calls them that and we are all Jamaican. I never knew what people were talking about when they said bantu knots?!?! 😂😂🌴🌴🌴
hahaha, I thought I was the only one. Glad to know I'm not alone😩😂
Exactly first i usually search for chiney bumps now it's bantu knots
Your so pretty i thought your profile picture was beyonce for a sec 😂
My mother would do our hair like this after washing our hair. Once dry she would take them down one by one as she pressed (straighten) our hair for Sunday morning church service.
Im Jamaican too...they're called chiney bumps because as you wrap them they get tigher and they claim they make your eyes look like chiney(Chinese) lol
Wowwww, all these years I didn't understand the meaning behind the phrase and you broke it down in a matter of minutes..lol You're awesome! Thank you love, for making sense of what no one would explain to me as a child growing up...lol😩😘
Bella Mecia lol yes I never understood either I asked my mom years ago
Wow that is interesting
i am from barbados and we call them corkscrews use to do them when we finish washing our hair and dont want to blow dry or for a twistcurl or wear it as is
Same here girl..lol Almost every Sunday my mom would wash my hair and do this style right after but I would always try to unravel it because I thought the curls looked better. Not to mention I always got stares like I was an alien because this style wasn't well known then. She would be so happy to know that I kept it in and rocked it as is..lol
My grandmother also called them corkscrews. That's what she did with our hair every Sunday morning after she washed it. We were so embarrassed to be seen like that. We'd hide if any visitor showed up and we had corkscrews or there would be tears if one of us was asked to go on an errand to the corner shop then. My grandmother's parents, my great grandparents were from Barbados.
Yep, corkscrews in Barbados.
Great tutorial! Very detailed! Thank you so much! ❤️
🙌🏾👏Best tutorial and it worked thanks!!! My natural hair is so short I really didn’t know how to do it but you explained it well!
OMG! You ladies with the thick Caribbean hair ROCK! I’d trade my thin fine hair 3b/3c hair any day!
Great video! Keep it up
Great tutorial and extremely helpful! I did a search and watched your video all the way through because you got straight into the tutorial. Just how I like! Now, I am confident with doing my Bantu knots. 👍🏾 Take care!!
I remember seeing this hairstyle on Jada Pinkett Smith in Matrix, I've been wearing box braids for over tens yrs. plus it's definitely time for a change, I ran across your video, and I said to myself, I can do this, I love it and you did a great job. Look like the process took about an hr. I'm going try to do my hair this weekend add some blue hair to give color. thank you so much for sharing... my co-workers will be shocked to see my hair in a new style other than braids. have a wonderful day!
You gave a great explanation. Thanks for a awesome tutorial!

Okay first of all, UA-cam needs more people like you. This video was straight to the point and you didn’t waffle on like MOST people do. Fr, I stayed for the entire video! Loved your outcome, I’m going to put it on my list of styles to try. I’ve actually done Bantu knots many times before but I always make mine small. How did you part your hair like that?
My mom always called them beehives. Lol
My hair is super curly, and this was the easiest way to keep it detangled and basically ready for the next morning when she took them down. Lol
Your hair is so pretty & long!
OMGGGG I SLAED MINES THX FOR THE TUTORIAL
Your hair is so healthy and beautiful. Great video
