    What I would like to see in the new upcoming Halo games is relics of ancient humanity. we know that they were spanning across thousands of worlds and their technology was on par with the forerunners. Maybe some human saved themselves and left the Galaxy or developed some technology on a world to Shield themselves. I would love for ancient humanity to come into contact with the UNSC. It would be a clash of cultures, a clash of technology, a clash of ideals and basically human beings meeting each other with thousands of years of technological engenius separating them. That would be so cool.

    • @pastordonkoh7692
      @pastordonkoh7692 4 роки тому +49

      I also like the idea of a faction of ancient humanity becoming the enemy in a way that makes them betray the mantle, betray their former ideals on preserving lifd and puts them on a collision path with modern humanity. An outcome that redeems forerunners and in a brilliant conclusion, one that sees modern humanity become the holders of the mantel.
      In this story the faction Ancient humans that escaped the Didact return to the galaxy with the intent to exact retribution, exterminate the last forerunners and reclaim the galaxy.
      Modern humanity is put in a difficult dilemma. Not only do you have *ONI* who intend on working with Ancient humans to achieve their goals, but you also have the UNSC with figures like Admiral Hood who oppose ancient humanity. A conflict that would tear apart the UNSC and split humanity into different allegiances.
      Would be very interesting.

    Forerunner logic:

      the biggest war sa had (before the reapers )only lasted few months with less than a thousand dead and every battle since was against slavers and pirates (and they lost some of them😑)
      the halo humans wars are more numerous and devastating and when they lost they did because they were outnumbered and outgunned
      the sa military is always mocked in canon for being weak and incompetent

      The Systems Alliance marines would slaughter the UNSC Marines generally speaking and specific circumstances not withstanding; they aren't mocked. In canon, they are hugely respected as they're the only military power that could contend with the modern Turian Hierachy in their versatility. They have massive amounts of drones for reconnaissance, all their vehicles have shielding and most have minitaure MAC cannons on them (Mako, Grizzly etc) and all their troops have shielding. Even if we assume a bog-standard squad vs squad match, it would go to the Alliance easily: they'd have shielding, access to tech attacks via omni-tool capable of disabling enemy offensive capabilities (or, if on hand, mod ammunition into specialist types: radioactive isotope, explosive, cryo etc) and they have superior full body armour capable of self healing or even full self repair if given time to do it.
      The main reason they lost against slavers was the need to protect civilians, their adherence to "moral combat" and the fact that the slavers had access to old batarian military space ships (which at the time, were only slightly sub-par to alliance vessels due to their "rag tag" nature). This is all assuming that biotics are excluded from said matchup.

    • @ZeroQ2012
      @ZeroQ2012 5 років тому +11

      Jordan Beeney no they were mocked did you miss the part when garrus tell turian jokes and how humanity is considered the french of the galaxy?? Its even said so in the codex that if it wasn’t for the asari stopping the war before it started humans would have been squashed
      the humans are not respected for defeating the turians because they didn’t the “war” only lasted few months and humans are the only one who lost a world in it and even then they keep calling it war when others species call it incident lets face it modern day earth will not call it war either
      And then what did they do ? they joined the very same alien that attracted them and joined as the inferior member
      they failed their own colonies when the slavers and collectors attacked and worst of all they are the only ones to appended their homeworld and run
      the very idea of cerberus came to be because of a lost faith in the sa leadership and that is one of the plots in the story the unsc are the same but for deferent reason they lost people faith for being a little tyrants sa can have as many drones as they want you cant defeat an enemy four time your populations especially with how tiny sa army is (the reason they depend on drones in the first place )and the level of industry that comes from eight hundred colonies where sa have only dozen and not one of them made it to the billion mark as for mac you do realize that if halo were to have a deferent name it probably be mac gun they put it in everything and is way more powerful than sa counterpart look it the wiki if you don’t believe me
      I know you are a mass effect fan and probably think I’m halo one but truth is I can’t stand first shooter games I’m mass effect fan first and foremost but im not gonna lie about it and change its history to make the game i love superior to others sorry but the entire plot of mass effect is stagnation I honestly don’t understand fans who want it to be more than it is

    I love how you used the music in this clip. I think the Forerunners may have been a little too hard on themselves. If all species deserved a second chance after the firing of the Array, so did they. Yes they had failed spectacularly in upholding the Mantle and had often acted only for the sake of the Forerunners and not for the other species in the galaxy. But Humanity had been little better, nor had the San'shyuum.
    It would have been justifiable to reseed the forerunners as a species and have them start at the same level as the others, tier 7, and for the remaining advanced forerunners to retreat, only potentially interfering if the Flood returned and ohterwise leaving well enough alone.
    As to whether or not they will return in some capacity, I think so. With Humanity progressing to become a tier 2 civilization and the Covenant still being broken, the enemies that seemed so powerful in the past will become ever more irrelevant. Real life forerunners mobilizing their tech to revive themselves would add an intresting new faction to the mix would allow for new antagonists that are actually threatening to Humanity, much like the Covenant was in its glory days.

      That's because they tried to take something that wasn't theirs to take. The Mantke was to go to the humans but the Forerunners got mad and tried to commit mass genocide against the Precursors. Precursors that didn't die either went into hiding or eventually became the Flood (the Flood was the Precursors revenge plan). They caused the problem.

    Man that halo 3 theme hits me right in the feels, makes me remember when i first got a 360 and the game for christmas in like 2008 and booted up xbl for the very first time (back when xbox had the blades guide menu), being totally blown away by the prospect of playing and talking with someome potentially on the otherside of the world. I pretty much stopped playing halo after getting into cod waw since i started to hate it for not having things like sprinting, aiming down the sight, and players dieing in 3-4 shots rather than 2 mags (since it took atleast a mag just to down your shields). I loved reach because it played more like halo pc, but i was about a year late due to being punished by my folks and my dad's stubborn insistance that i play some boring baseball game rather than "the killing games". Never finished the campaign for 4 nor played spartan ops (due in part to no internet access at the time), and never got into multiplayer cause i didnt have my legendary goodies to give me something other than default (since ranking up to unlock shit takes ages). Lost interest in the new games because i couldnt get into the story of 4 and i heard 5 was garbage (campaign only a couple hours long with a cliffhanger story that made little sense, and no split screen co-op). Halo wars was my 3rd favorite after halo custom edition and reach, while odst was probably my least favorite gameplay wise (although still more memorable than 4, especially after watching firefly)

    Any thoughts on what were the Precursors's motivations thoeughout the silentium series? From my understanding, precursors created sentient life, tested their compatibility to the mantle, wiped them clean if they failed or should they perhaps succed, allow them to transcend sentient life and become the "Precursors" to continue the next cycle/test on the next sentinent species. Ultimately its implied by the Gravemind that after 400 billion years of godhood, they were suprised that that the forerunners would attack them and proceeded to allow the forerunners to kill them. However I'm not certain exactly if every Precursor was killed when "fleeing" from the ancient Forerunner fleet, but I presume that it was merely a subsection of the greater whole that's elsewhere in the greater universe. I suspect that that the transcition to being a flood and the sealing of the Timeless one was the final test on the Forerunners to see if they truly stayed true to the ideas of the mantle, should they fail(which i resume they did, due to their actions in the forerunner-human war and their belief of "imperial peace"), result in their extinction via the Flood, a weapon tailored made to defeat the Forerunners. Following this the Halo array is to be fired, resetting the board and allowing a new cycle to commence, by which I suspect humanity would be one now tested.

However, if there is a halo wars 3 that takes place after another long span of cryo-sleep, I think that bringing a forerunner or two out of hiding around 2575 would be the most sensible option, as 343 needs to finish up the current conflict before moving to anything more serious.

It would even be possible to keep the flood specimens alive long enough for the monitors to perform all scheduled testing, and only then purge the last of them, and then detonate the rings.

In fact I'd say about 15% at least are directly involved in their government. With another 25-35% involved in judicial procedures and such. Their entire race does vote on most actions, or differs actions to their leading Didact. So it stands to reason that aside from secret projects, like the Master Builder's experiments, race wide actions, such as the war on the Precursors, and Humans, were likely called on a vote. And since there's no current mention of public outcry for those actions, that means that even civilians were at least content for the most part with every action their government took. While it's quite likely that the vote was just taken by the government itself, I doubt the government would be able to hide a war, perhaps they could make up a reason that makes the Precursors sound like they should be destroyed (but again given that we currently know of no civil unrest caused by this, it's assumed that the populace was ok with this, and I find it difficult to believe they could come up with a reason good enough to go to war with their makers, that everyone would be fine with, also pretty sure the Precursors would've made a public announcement about the race not being worthy).
      The only actions that weren't made public were secret projects, like the experiments and the composer, which were both tied mainly to one leading individual (though with the support of their loyal armed forces). Then there's the Halo array, which was probably kept secret from the masses, but I don't think the people would really argue since the chances of victory against the flood were around 1% at that point. That being said in some regards your right, most every action that lead to the galaxy being put in danger was done by the government, but this government was fully supported by the people. There's even real life examples to be made on similar grounds. Going to use feudal Japan as an example cause it's a pretty good one. Everyone from the peasants to the loyal retainers have a sense of pride for their clan, sure the peasants aren't even the least bit responsible for their diamyo's actions, but they support their diamyo (though the reason for that can vary based on what kind of person their diamyo was). When a clan falls, their remnants feel a sense of shame, even a commoner who had no part in it, can feel this. So in a similar sense, the Forerunners are the same, even if they had been reseeded, if the new Forerunners were also proud beings, than the knowledge of their ancestors actions, and their fall, would cause them a feeling of shame. What the Forerunners ultimately did was eliminate the chance that their reseeded descendants would make the same mistake they did, or try something worse. It's not entirely fair, but it's what they choose.

    One aspect of their departure you danced around but didn't mention was that their use of the Mantle helped to weaken the galaxy, allowing the Flood to rapidly spread during the Flood-Forrunner War. The departing Forrunners did recognize that the results of the conflict were pretty much their fault.

    All solid in universe explanations. I would also add that a big reason why the forerunners didn't preserve themselves is because up until 343 it was heavily implied forerunners were ancient technologically advanced humans so basically until 343 the forerunners had reseeded themselves.

    If we want to go extra deep, the precursors, whom created humans and forerunner, gave the mantle of responsibilities to the forerunners. In time, the precursors saw that the forerunners were unworthy and the precursors made plans to remove the forerunners to replace them with humans, which they deemed worthy. We saw that this didn't go well for the precursors, but it is in the forerunners birth right to give up the mantle, and the galaxy, and pass it on to humanity.

    Good video. I sort of wondered why they didn't save themselves. They also must have had tremendous guilt over forcing the Precursors to turn into the Flood. They basically created the Flood problem and thus were the cause of extermination of all life in the galaxy. I haven't played Halo Infinite yet. I don't know the story line, but I would assume we see more Forerunners at some point in the series.

    In the latest Thrawn novel we learn that hyperlanes can be "closed", yes. But hyperlanes are just lines drawn on a map, lines that represent regions a ship can safely move through in hyperlight speeds, as any object blocking a ship from moving forward in that region would in hyperlight speeds either cause a ship large enough to exit hyperspace, or it will cause the ship to exit hyperlight in a rather more "explosive" way due to collision. But back to the point; hyperlanes in Star Wars are not artificial nor are they in any sense "made" (unless counting moving rocks and misc. objects out of the path).
