I grew up in Western Canada, we had Detroit channels on cable. Some commercials still live rent free. One was for a car dealership. It went “ Me and dog want you to g to Telegraph Rd. Right now, get a good deal.” Tell ‘em dog sent you.
Chris, please stop begging for “likes”. It takes your 6’5” frame and shrinks it to 2’6”. In other words, it is diminishes you. Drop a like for THAT amazing insight. Peace!
@@ChrisHarden Excellent. Soon, you will be able to dunk on a 10 ft rim. At my advanced age, and my 6'2" height held earthbound by 287 lbs of bulbosity, I feel fortunate if I am able to rise from my easy chsir without the assistance of a team of clydesdales. By the way, I really do enjoy your videos. I love it when you are driving through sketchy neighborhoods and suddenly the "thug" music starts playing. I used to vacation at my Aunt & Uncle’s who lived off US 24 on Albain Rd just south of Monroe, MI. Summers in the "country" for a Detroit kid were special. For a period of time in the 1950’s Telegraph Rd down there was a new-fangled highway innovation-a three-laned highway where the center lane could be used for passing by cars traveling in EITHER DIRECTION. One afternoon while playing outside we heard a loud explosion. We heard later that three businessman from Detroit attempted to pass a vehicle and met a truck head-on passing in the middle lane traveling in the opposite direction. Three lane highways persisted for a number more years until their record of vehicular carnage was impossible to ignore.
Telegraph Road, US-24, has been declared a Purple Heart Trail through the City of Taylor, a Purple Heart Community. Both designations were named by the Purple Heart Organization, supporter of wounded American Veterans.
Really enjoying your channels. Thanks a lot. Never heard of this Telegraph Road until your video. Cool being able to learn about it. If you have time, check out the Telegraph Creek Road in northwest BC -- I've been on that a few times. Amazing. Thanks again.
Dequindre is also the borderline between Oakland and Macomb Counties....I know.....I was born and raised at Auburn & Dequindre back when Rochester Hills was Avon Twp :)
I know Opdyke turns into M24 leading to Oxford, Lake Orion, Davidson and Metamora.......Been down that stretch like a Zillion times when I was younger !!!!

Thanks for the ride !
Used to cruise Telegraph between Van Born and Ford Road. There was a drive thru beer store just north of Cherry Hill, very convenient back in the day.
Six lanes of traffic
Three lanes movin' slow

Oh, so that’s why I woke up today only 3’ tall eh? Interesting.
@@chrishardenarchives No. No. LESS than 3 ft. However, if you stop begging for "likes" your height will soar to 7 ft!
@@yourroyalhighness7662Hmm. I’ll put some serious thought into that.

Thanks to you Chris, I am getting unbelievable miles per gallon touring the Detroit metro area from south central Alaska! ❤
😂

Wow , the area of Telegraph really has changed alot in the 8 years since I left..😪
Oh yeah?
Grew up in Toledo. Very familiar with this stretch from Toledo to Flat Rock - Flat rock Speedway.

16:22 Saw a Bald Eagle flying over the golf course last year I was south bound , it was on my left (right in the vid) Dearborn Hills
I deeply regret that I have but one like to give for all this amazing insight!
I 75 is so bad I started taking Telegraph to Toledo
We could really use some of those Michigan lefts in Illinois. Thanks for the drive!👍

21:30 did carpet in those apartments on the right.
I know Rochester Rd leads to Lake Orion or Addison Twp and on one side is Oakland County and on the Other side is Romeo, which is Macomb County .
You forgot to mention thus far is the Henry Ford Museum and Village in Dearborn......One of my Favorite Places 😍
I also would've never guessed that Redford had a similar median income to Dearborn, feels like it should be like 70-75K for Dearborn
Dequindre is also the borderline between Oakland and Macomb Counties....I know.....I was born and raised at Auburn & Dequindre back when Rochester Hills was Avon Twp :)
I also drove on an asphalt crew on a lot of the RR crossings in Monroe Co.
I know Opdyke turns into M24 leading to Oxford, Lake Orion, Davidson and Metamora.......Been down that stretch like a Zillion times when I was younger !!!!
I watched this for the Pontiac ending. I lived in the neighborhood near the toys r us that shut down years ago.
By the big lots and shi I live by there
The only stretch of US 24 signed North & South in the U.S.
3:42 there is an asphalt plant on the left.
Back when I lived in Detroit...1960's/70's they called it Bloody Telegraph due to all the vehicle accidents.
12:09 but it also has the nickname Taylortucky for a reason lol
You just passed the Oakland County Courthouse
Next time you're in Michigan, you should drive around Battle Creek
One day
Probably my most driven road lol
Why do you always change to sinister sounding [rap] music when you enter Detroit City Limits?
Because it fits.
Taylortucky :)
No One wants to move past 14 mile rd---whether you live in Oakland or Macomb Counties....The further North ---The Better😁
My most hated drive, now and in the past six decades. It’s just bad.
I driven that many many times for many many years.
I know every foot of that road
You drove by my street
