I always wanted to hear the FG-180, LL16, and FG5 played against each other. Listening to this presentation multiple times, I preferred the LL16 and FG5. It would be interesting to hear these guitars played in several different styles. I’m always impressed to hear how even the FG-5 sounds across the board….highs, mids, and lows all share the spotlight.
Dumb luck, I bought an L5A in 1979 when I was in the military. The lady at the music store talked me into it versus a Martin that I was looking at. She said you won’t regret buying it. She was right. It’s all the guitar I’ll ever need. Still plays and sounds great 40+ years down the road. The best $400 I’ve ever spent. Most people are amazed how well it sounds. I usually get “That’s a Yamaha”?, wow!”
Huge fan of Yamaha guitars however the 331 didn't come out until 77-81 according to the vintage Yamaha guitar website and because I got my first Yamaha new in 72 and I was aware of all the makes and models available at that t
I buy and sell them all the time...my main guitars either my FG5 or LL16. Close are my Martin DX1AE or Guild GAD 50. I played 18s and 28s before I got my FG5 - they honestly could not compete for the style I play and quite frankly the build quality was lacking in binding, fretwork and overall detail quality. I certainly agree that Martin is the gold standard when you get "that one" but lately harder and harder to find it in shops here around Toronto Canada and the price is a shit kicker...for an 18 cost here one can get a Boucher which kicks them to the curb in my opinion. Plus I set them up, tinker, love all kinds and not a collector...like to buy them, noodle a while, fix up and sell so always have a blend of all different makes and models. Right now sadly nothing is selling...lol...Covid everyone was going to learn to play so market flush here..lol
Sounds so good. I am loving my Yamaha Guitars more and more. I have learned so much from you.
Thank you and glad you enjoy it !
WoW... ! ALL consistently good musical instruments... Brand YAMAHA is second to none... 🤠...

Agreed…that FG5 was $2300 in Canada and worth every penny !

Love Yamaha guitars.
Love that LL16 love them all. Thanks for taking the time to do this. FG5 my second😊
Thank you
Wow that's good. I'll go with the fg5
Yamaha! ‘nuff said. 😉
Some may ask.. instead of so many guitars, why not just one good Martin guitar?
The FG5 he is playing is already as good if not better than the Martin D18 for half the price

Do you have the same string set on each guitar? What type of pick are you using? Thickness? I love my Yamaha FGX3.
Great playing, just turn down the backing track so we can here the guitars better.
Thanks for the video!
@@andrewlesniak4515 Will do next time. Thanks for the feedback !
Not much difference when you're soloing acoustic guitars!
Oh....forgot my amp....and pedals...and did not have a mandolin kickin' around...sorry...
