Interesting comment about Bearing Buddies at 12:45. I was told the same thing a while back by a mechanic at a trailer place. He told me to never trust them and always visually inspect and hand pack the wheel bearings. He said the vast majority of failed bearings he saw were on trailers with Bearing Buddies. Apparently, the grease doesn't get far enough into where it's needed when owners grease them. They certainly make greasing things easier, but it's not as thorough.

What he told you is correct in my opinion. I worked at a RV dealership for a while and noticed the same thing. Thanks for watching! Much appreciated

That's not a bad cost for new axial. But thanks for sharing your expertise on what to look for. But it looks solid and I'm sure you'll have some reenforcement to it though. Looking forward to seeing the next part of the build!

No reinforcement needed. I already built a camper on it. That was a good trailer the way it was

Would it be bad to hang the floor over the frame of the trailer by 6 inches

Not at all! I haven't but I have seen them built over the wheels. If you want the tires outside the walls when building wider than the trailer, a new axle may be needed but that all depends on how far your existing axle is away from the walls. I usually allow for 2 inches clearance on each side. No rule says you cant have less but I like the extra room. I just think that 2 inches allows for room if you bounce or have a tire blow out. Thanks for watching!

My black squareback is built 3.5 inches over the frame on each side. I did replace the axle

@@brca3986 thanks for watching. I built a 6.5X10 squareback camper. It had 5 ft interior height as well. There is a walk around video of it here on UA-cam.

@@brca3986 almost any frame can be used. After you add your floor, it will strengthen the trailer. Good luck and BUILD ON!
