Another Great video Jay. Andy Howard
Thanks for watching!
I hope to build one someday, I’m just not allowed to where I live right now.
Thanks for watching!
Great video
I don't have tabs to bolt to but I have a 2x4 1/8 inch box frame the middle supports are smaller. Should I just
bolt to the cross supports?
Bolt through the main frame
Screw to the main frame with Tek screws (self tapping metal screws)
Get tabs welded on?
Or maybe do riv nuts in the main frame?
I recommend just getting the tabs welded on. It's just easier to fasten and it would be removable in the future should the need arise. Thanks for watching!
Also is it necessary to use sanded plywood for the exterior wall?
I am thinking of doing 1/4 wall with 3/4 insulation and 1x inner frame with 1/4 inner wall.
Thanks!
I don't use it. I use exterior grade. Thanks for watching
Hi,
How much is gap/distance between the wheel and floor ending/edge.
Hello! Thanks for watching. I try to have 2 inches between the wheel and wall.
@@DIYTearDropJay GREATLY APPRECIATED PROMPT REPLY.
My pleasure! Build on!
so your not putting anything in between the floor and tabs? or in the holes? will water not get up into the holes? thanks for the video. I think I just over thing everything.
I shoot some proflex around the bolt before I snug up the wax nut. Nothing between the floors and tabs. No need for anything there. When all is said and done, I caulk (rv proflex) around everything on the camper, that includes around the frame on the floor.
Great job. On the insulation 1 1/2 is not available shortage here. Can i use 3/4 insulation x 2 to make an 1 1/2 or any variations for tge 1 1/2
I dont see any reason why you cant. Thanks for watching!
What are your thoughts about insulating the walls?
I haven't found a need to insulate the walls. I have done it once. I'm definitely not against it. I just dont think its needed. I have camped in 100° (F) heat and as cold as 20° (F) and was fine in both situations without it. Thanks for watching
@@DIYTearDropJay I've heard people talking about waking up on cool mornings with condensation inside and wondered if that was an issue you'd ever encountered
I always have a window cracked and the fan running, even if the fan is just cracked open. Never had an issue with condensation.
What was the plywood thicknesses on the floor? both top and bottom 3/4 inch?
1/2 " top and bottom. Plenty strong. Thanks for watching
