The Beatles had just broken up. John was dealing with that and lots of other issues including those from his childhood. He learned about Primal Scream Therapy and tried it. As with most things John Lennon, his personal adventures became his music. This album, Plastic Ono Band, has a lot of Primal Scream. It was not commercial compared to The Beatles success, but the album has gained importance in time and is considered by many to be his best solo work.

If you do a Patreon for The Beatles be sure to listen to the LPs in chronological order. Then you can the progress that they made from one to the next.

It fit well inside of the POB album. Of course, not exactly an album people broke out for parties. Great album to experience though.

The Beatles were my introduction and first love of rock music. My first album and of course I remember watching them on the Ed Sullivan show. They are all very special to me. I like about 90% of what they recorded together and separately. This song is not one of my favorite Lennon songs, but that's OK, he has more than made enough great songs I love. No favorites for me, I love them all.
I have never done patreon, but I would consider it....

The man was tired of worship. Just wanted to be a flesh and blood im flawed like everyone else human.

Great album. The best of the solo Beatle albums, IMO. A true artistic statement throughout. Scary at first. It's NOT the Beatles (which everyone expected). Nope. John does his thing and seems to even anticipate punk and grunge. In the hands of a lesser talent, this would have failed.

Maybe I don't understand John. It's not my "cup of tea."
I would skip over this one.
