Ooh ooh ooh my Durge follows Ilmater! She's a tiefling and woke up with no memories except her name, which the narrator says is The Dark Urge. She starts seeing things like the body on the beach and the memories in her head, starts feeling really repulsed by herself and guilty. She finds the Grove and meets the tieflings, absorbs some culture she didn't otherwise realise, and gave herself the virtue name Redemption. She dedicates herself to doing everything she can to make up for her evil thoughts, so of course she would turn to the martyr god. She's mostly life cleric with a dash of Ancients Paladin, and I'm using mods to give myself infinite dyes so everyone can have a colour scheme (hers is Faewild Green and Dun, which is a really thematically appropriate half green half red). When she met the Loviatar cleric, even though she follows Ilmater, she asked for penance and kept asking him to go harder because her self-esteem is just that low. She hasn't romanced anyone yet, but she's really warming up to Shadowheart...
Ngl I didn’t really look into Ilmater besides what was said in Bg3,but I wish I had sooner! Wanna buy him a drink ngl. (Also I almost had a heart attack when I saw my art in the background lmao)
@@kikiromiii I think your therapist has the right idea!! Especially nowadays, D&D is so much better for your mental wellbeing. It's fun to think about how you could implement these gods into a campaign.
Ahhhhhh! I love this!! I started playing BG3 a few months ago as a cleric of Ilmater, despite only vaguely knowing who he was, because I felt like it would be an interesting background to have when I romanced Astarion 😅 though after actually looking him up and reading through his lore, I came to love him so much! He’s so interesting, and trying to really rp my character as a devotee has been a lot of fun :)
So I am disabled and it made me think of combining disability into the character but i would need to add some homebrew since D&D doesn't have mobility aids for player characters. Character written as a narrative. Twins are born to a poor family. From a young age the girls would be in agony just walking but as their family were poor farmers they just had to live with it. Still trying to help around the farm. As they got older weaker their legs become. Soon their family treats them both like a burden. the children in both physical an emotional pain locked away from the world are abandoned when the family were forced to flee ,Insert conflict here. The children are found by a traveling paladin of Ilmater and taken to a near by Temple of Ilmater to be raised. However, the two girls disagreed with one another about the teachings of the church. One, Ella, found comfort in the teachings. Viewing the god as similar to the girls like them he is always in pain and yet he finds the strength to go on. The other, Lola, just finds rage. Why should they sacrifice for others when others left them to die and suffer alone in the attic? The two girls grow distant. Ella does well at the temple and joins to the faith formally training to be a cleric of Ilmater. While Lola uses the tools given to help them move around to hang around with her... Interesting friends. One day running away and joining up with some Loviatar followers. set on making the world feel her pain. Ella grows to be a better healer and to have great empathy. Even catering to animals with disabilities like herself. When the church grows low on funs and shuts down her animal shelter. So she takes all her sweet animals into old ruin making a new shelter there. Having to suffer agony as she climbs down without her chair. Carrying little animals down no matter how her legs burn and scream. While building her shelter she is forced to fight some mimics who attack her and her pets. Luckily it is not only small pets she rescues but any disabled creature (here she has duel classed as ranger beast master with her cleric.) So some of her more... beastly pets help protect her. While checking for more mimics she finds an odd chest. the chest looks as if it is made of rainbow wood... like each plank was dyed. It was also not quiet chest shaped. A disabled mimic. Instead of having her pets kill the thing, she made it her mission to befriend it. Feeding it, giving it gifts, and slowly gaining its trust. Over time the mimic sees her how she uses a wheelchair until she has to climb a ladder that makes her face stretch in agony as she climbs then struggles to bring it it's meal. It starts to meet her sooner and even mimic her chair. It never matched perfectly but its differences made it better. It could climb while a chair making it so she didnt have to get out to go up a ladder. It made her life easier. Now with a chair that is actually her beast companion (were a DM would need to give special permissions i think). She doesnt attack and only supports. HOWEVER, if she is taken out of her chair during a fight? (in game function she cant use action and her mobility is lessened a lot when out of her chair, or something else would need to talk to a DM) her mimic pet becomes a fighting member of her party with it hard targeting whatever got her out of the chair. for balancing she cant just get out so he can fight or if she is it would need to have a big negative. i could see her being able to get her movement speed back if she takes psy damage (to simulate a internal pain) or need to pass a save when she is pulled out though. All these details would need to be hammered out with a DM but it could make some cool rp during a fight. Why is she joining a party? she needs money and supplies for her shelter since the church no longer funds it. She also is trying to adopt any injured or disabled animal you find even if it is an obvious trap. She never takes the tenday breaks because she can never not be suffering due to her legs. If Lola is introduced into the campaign this will be the one person she will be willing to take violent acts against as she feels response for any evil done by her sister "we have the same blood thus her sins are mine" (worshipers of Ilmater need a bit of a martyr complex). Lola can be used by the DM as a BBG or a Lacky or just when they need a boss that causes narrative spice.
Wow, thank you so so much for sharing your art. I may have shed a tear at this story 😭 I love Lola, she is such a deep and intriguing character. Are you a writer? I’d love to follow your future endeavors :)
1:45 Nothing compares to the discomfort of tucking I promise, and Ilmater has pretty much always been an expy for Jesus. Just as Loviatar was drawn from real Finnish myths.
I would love a lore video on Cyric, that diva is all up in everyone's business. I also have a member of my dnd party that turned from cleric of Cyric to Eldath and I would love to know more about our newfound opps aka Cyric's homies.
I actually romanced Astarion as a cleric of Ilmater. She was a wood half-elf and she was kind, compassionate and helpfull, which got on his nerves, especially in the beginning, but he really came to appreciate her for it. She really took to heart the idea of helping people who are suffering regardless of who or what they are, and so she was a lot more compassionate toward the plight of Astarion and all of Cazador's other vampire spawn than one might expect a cleric to be toward undead. I used Divine Intervention during the fight with Cazador and it felt extremely satisfying and fitting. For her epilogue I chose the option of her and Astarion setting off to try and find a way for him to walk in the sun again and I like to imagine that's their big overarching epic quest that they're on, but they also keep getting side tracked and helping people along the way.
I'm almost done with my second play through of BG3 with my Ilmater Life cleric and it's been so much fun. Especially choice wise as I try to always pick supportive and peaceful options and pretty blindly help any npc who needs something. And putting himself through ice pick in the eye or githyanki torture machine so no one else has to, just in case it might be the way to save everyone. Being patient and understanding of everyone he encounters and it also gave me a perfect character to learn Lae'zel's story more as I rudely ignored her in my first play through. My Tav and her are in a relationship that I find surprisingly endearing, them balancing each other out and stopping from going to extremes. Thank you for the video, I was excited to see it and so well done! ❤
Really getting these videos out now! I love it! My next vote is for either Jergal or Chauntea. Can't talk about the Dead 3 without talking about Jergal, and you have mentioned Chauntea in some many other videos might as well give her own video as well.
What a nice god for these trying times! I kept getting him and Lathander combined in my head, but I'm about to start act 3 on my second (full) playthrough, so this was a great refresher!
I absolutely loved that i just found this video and your channel!-- I've needed a girlie to talk about dnd while I listen. Recently for a upcoming dnd Campaign, I've made a Druid and soon to be cleric of Ilmater, he was a practicing doctor and uses incense and smoke to cast magic and heal, while also trying to be as non-lethal as possible.
Ok, story time 📖 I am DMing a Planescape campaign (the characters are planeswalkers who are trying to save the universe from heat death), and their first ever real mission was saving a martyr of Ilmater. Her soul was sent to the Nine Hells because it was given to a devil by someone who betrayed her, and so she became a Chain Devil in the hells. The players had to help her get to Ilmater's realm in Martyrdom to redeem her soul, so they captured her in an Iron Flask (like the one in BG3) and take it to the city of Tradegate in the Outlands, and find the living gate to Bytopia. They made it to Martyrdom, and Ilmater returned the Chain Devil to her original form. The players were rewarded with some sick magic items and got to interview Ilmater. I played him as a very soft-spoken and kind man, and in my mind, he looks and sounds like Victor from Arcane 😂. Also, its canon in my Planescape campaign that all Bisexuals are Good-aligned and go to Bi-topia when they die. I'm bi, and i love bi people (you, Kiki!!!!) 🩷💙💜 ALSO i would love a Chauntea video!
I tend to make Karlach follow Ilmater, especially after seeing her sacrifice her soul to become a Mindflayer and then try to survive by providing euthanasia to the suffering while making sure their memories can live on.
Pls do Sune next! I've got an Aasimar War Cleric who is secretly a daughter of Sune and I stan anything to do with her lore. Miss thing is so conceited and I love it. PS love these vids Queen you keep rocking the lore-makeup crossover!
