    This was terrific and very helpful to someone like me who's always struggled to go beyond a 4 bar pattern and make it feel alive. Thanks for sharing the project on this one, it seems you were hesitant to do so. I look forward to dusting off my mixer and playing around with it as a performance/composition tool like this. Lucky me, i have a VLZ3 so its practically the exact same as your setup.

      No problem at all, happy you find it useful. Yeah i was a little hesitant as i felt it didn’t have much going on and relied so much on other gear but glad I did as it’s better to have it there and not be used than not be there at all. Also you make a good point in that the Mackie is pretty popular mixer so it’s probably less specific than i thought.
      Enjoy your jamming and playing about with it. 🖤

      Yeah the RE-202 has a nice metal sound to it, especially if hit hard and saturated. Definitely some reverb stuff to come for sure and maybe Strymon might make an appearance one day.

      Did you source from the sample CD’s or the selection picked from the game? It’s super interesting hearing all the sounds in either case. So many good ones and a decent bunch of chords variations. Yeah you should definitely explore them.

    Would like to know a bit more fx routing and settings in AR and on the mixer, the order and what settings did you use on boss and lexicon, is it in serial or parallel? Boss into lexicon maybe? Thanks man, inspiring sound indeed!

    • @ExpectResistance
      @ExpectResistance  8 місяців тому +1

      Glad you’re enjoying it. Cheers.
      The routing in the Rytm is typically only fx out the main output, so no dry signal at all, just out the individual outputs.
      The Boss as Lexicon are both set to wet signal, and both are run from auxiliaries on the Mackie and then both back into channels on the Mackie.
      I think from memory, the Lexicon was using one of the delays, the last one i think. The settings were whatever they were in the box, not got the editor or done a factory reset so assume it’s stock but could be wrong. It had a complex delay/reverb quality to it.
      The Boss was a fast timing delay, spring reverb setting, i think either the old or new tape type is fine, depends what eq is set on the mixer or what balance of sounds you use. It’s good to have the option. I do find often find the spring reverb needs to be louder in some settings so sometimes turn down the delay to half and boost the overall output.
      The rest is really just eq and balance on the mixer.
      I hope that is useful, but happy to explain anything else 👍

    • @a1o1

      @@ExpectResistance Just saw this comment - the Volante is very much a tape delay emulator (a ... very very good one) - but the BigSky is also more akin to the Valhalla plugins - huge washout stuff possible. Both devices have midi sync (Volante for the delay and BigSky for internal modulator/lfo stuff it can do with the reverb). The tape controls on the Volante are great along with the tape quality adjustment stuff. Highly recommend checking out

    Do you have the controller for the LXP? It gives you control of more parameters. I was considering buying an LXP but not sure if it would be worth it without the controller.

    • @ExpectResistance
      @ExpectResistance  10 місяців тому

      I haven’t no, not yet. Apparently you can use any midi controller or sending data but I haven’t tried it yet. It’s very good sounding so i felt it was definitely worth it. However i will get a controller when i have some money, apparently it controls two Lexicons and can even control DX7’s.
