    I have been using wax paper. My resin finish when dried has not been sometimes cloudy. I have been trying to fix that and found another experiment using wax paper versus black plastic garbage bags. While both products released the resin, a blob just like yours, the one that come off the wax paper was cloudy versus the one off the black plastic was clear. He showed the two pieces side by side on a piece of newspaper so you could see the difference. In my projects, I use clear so I would advise others not to use wax paper when looking for a clear finish. I did further research after I saw this and apparently, wax and resin do not mix! I tried to buff it off with an electric buffer and car polish, it did not work.

    Great work and very much appreciated. One thing I might add as a consideration when pouring resin for a bowl, is the firmer the plastic base the harder to shape the bowl. In other words, using the black garbage bag verses thicker plastic, you will notice the limitations of shaping the pour. Thick is harder to shape, thin is easier to shape. However, if you want a bigger bowl the thick plastic is better, more firm to hold the shape. Also any thing you use will need to be much bigger than your pour because of gravity. Good luck on your bowl pouring , they are beautiful and very unique projects.

      May I ask how to prevent the resin from yellowing? Especially the transparent one.

    • @JulesMadisonArtByDesign
      @JulesMadisonArtByDesign  2 роки тому

      @@ge973 the only way I have learned over the years is to buy professional resin. It’s expensive but doesn’t yellow. I started out learning with cheap resin (obviously nothing I sold) but it was a good way to begin. Now I am a professional artist it matters that my resin is UV safe. It’s the light that yellows resin. If you are serious about selling your art as a professional you will have to spend money on expensive resin. I am still using different brands because the bubbles drive me crazy in some. I cannot recommend any right now because they are all constantly changing their formula. If I were to pick one it would be Naked Fusion

    I haven’t done resin yet but doing my research first. Found this video useful but wish you had used clear resin instead to see how clear the pieces come out. I think I want to try shiny side of freezer paper, parchment and a silicone mat as well and see how that works. I’m looking for a shiny smooth backside for the pieces I want to do. Actually was looking for a video for tapes that work other than the resin tape to stick wire and open bezels to and found this video first.

    its not heavy plastic sheathing its polyethylene. Other thing is tho you used white epoxy should use clear and see if it still stays crystal clear and what your using. Wax paper can make it slightly cloudy. The covering can effect the clearness of the epoxy. I use the big leaf garbage bags. Can cut into halves or quarters.

    Do they make such a thing as a really flexible thin (so I could form it over a bowl) silicon sheet type product? I've used the Saran wrap and had problems with not being able to get it off too. I had made a freeform type rectangular "dish" and unfortunately I can't get the wrap out of the corners of the dish. I know there's got to be something out there 🤷‍♀️ but I'm still really new at this and don't even know what to look for. I really appreciate you doing this experiment for us! Thanks a bunch!
