      Moeletsi Mbeki is probably not gonna say anything new about SA.
      Stellenbosch mafias positioned themselves for the new dawn, there are more Afrikaaner billionaires now than ever, a bit of development trajectory comparison to Asian tigers here and there, SOEs should be privatised, BBE benefited ANC political elites, ministers are overcompensated.Manufacturing sector dibbed. The usual really, nothing new or exciting.
      SA have an increasing pool of experts, PhD and post-doc fellows tackling interesting topics at their varied intersections.
      We need new informed voices.
      He should call Tito Mboweni if he's looking for a more older voice, he has alot to share and account for.
      Don't shoot, I'm an orphan, a victim of apartheid.

      My dad paid R5000 to a local chief for ancestral land.
      Then continued to plough R700k into building his home on it.
      R700k today isn’t the same as R700k in 2010.
      I wonder if his cost includes the time value of money plus improvements to the land?

    Fantastic interview. I learned a lot - a key thought around keeping the 3 x group split. Such important insights and grateful for the reminder: proper understanding provides for solutions that incorporate a growth towards integrity. South Africans need to know that "fixing" requires a depth of understanding and a desire not to cloud the room with smoke - conflict is too easy! We must stay together - fostering and supporting each other - reminding that the future belongs to every child. (Because 15 years is really a short stretch.) I love the way Jan takes out the colour in "The Behaviour of Capital".

      2:30 That is precisely what he is saying… these cocoons like Orania, Afriforum, Cape exit like apartheid before are not sustainable. They are fighting for a cabin upgrade. Relocating to ancestral & cultural homelands of Netherlands, France, Germany and U.K. would make more sense for such people. You can get your cabin upgrade in SA but when this thing sinks it’s taking everyone down. FYI those with little to no stake in the economy have less to lose.

    • @nedor64
      @nedor64 6 місяців тому

      @harivist365 "these cocoons like Orania, Afriforum, Cape exit like apartheid before are not sustainable" Eissh! Orania is the only town in your squatter camp called South Africa that is expanding rapidly. Afriforum on the other hand is a organization that are actually fixing many things the ANC regime is destroying. I am sure you are extremely jealous about that, I would suggest listen to what Jan Moganwa said and that is learn from the whites or go down with the ANC/EFF/MK, the choice is yours.

    • @nedor64
      @nedor64 6 місяців тому

      @@khaltsharivist365 "You can get your cabin upgrade in SA but when this thing sinks it’s taking everyone down" Thank you for my cabin upgrade, I am sure my "cabin" looks better than your rainbow-nation cabin at the moment I mean Orania is the only town that is expanding rapidly in the whole of South Africa. Afriforum with more than 370 000 members is definitely much more influential and economically stable than the whole of the ANC/EFF/MK together.

      @@lm_b5080 The "other dude" here 😂you are most welcome to "living in integrated & stimulating communities alongside all our countrymen" that is your right. There are many that choose to live with people of their own culture and it is also their right to do so, as stated in the constitution.
      "i wish to add my comment here saying that the majority of young afrikaners don't share this other dude's opinion" Hard to believe if you look at for example Afriforum Youth and the membership of the Solidarity Movement and Afriforum which is mostly young Afrikaners.
      "i'd add that i have much more in common with other SA'ns then with the idiots over in orania" Absolutely you are not forced to live in Orania but I also think you wont fit in because those people are hard working people they don't have time to sit around on UA-cam channels insulting others. Orania is the only town in the whole of South Africa that is expanding exponentially which tells me they are doing something right.

    An interesting part about the land act of 1913 came directly from the consequences of the Anglo-Boer war of 1899 - 1902.
    The British won the war (as the Afrikaners couldn't be beaten in the field but the Afrikaners were dying like flies in the concentration camps (and note not just Afrikaners - over Afrikaner 27000 women and children and black 29000 women and children aligned to the Afrikaners who were in concentration camps as well!) BUT the empire was financially constrained as that war costed the British empire so much money. This led to concessions between the two groups leading to Union in 1910. The Afrikaners essentially got the political power BUT the British / (eventually became English white South Africa) controlled the business sector. 1948 when the National party came in (and Apartheid as law) - one of the objectives was to get the Afrikaners into business ie. building Sanlam etc.
    So in 1910 - Afrikaners had the political sphere and the British/English - the business sphere!

    Politics is not cooperate space. It's a whole complete different space.
    It's either you are right or left, you can't be both or mixed. AfriForum is a typical example of being clear on which site they take.
    Priority in SA, should be to address the social injustices which are due to historical background of colonialism, apartheid n they still exist due to corruption.
    Once we can address social injustices, we can now open a discussion of what type of society we want.
    Otherwise Mr Jan, sounds more like an analyst not a politician.

    In just 2 minutes of this interview I wonder, as he was brought up by corporate SA, internalised some of their practices and benefitted from them and this country's neo-liberal and anti poor policies. What does he stand for? He is brought into the political arena by what he articulates as self-interest brought about by the need to improve the society his kids will inhabit. Are his interests aligned with the majority of the poor SANs? Looking into the fact that often business interests are anti-poor? My thinking is that he is another version of Busa,Rise Mzansi, and Cope. Those parties are just sides of the same coin and are competing for the same tiny votes from the black middle class in an overwhelmingly poor country.

      It almost sounds like this argument you make and others like it seem to dismiss any form of poverty alleviation discussion that doesn’t seem to retain and perpetuate poverty status quo. May I ask, what specifically gives you the impression of being anti-poor/pro-white in what this man has proposed, because Ive just listened to the entire discussion, and EVERY point he has made promotes the alleviation of poverty and the promotion of real transformation in this country, and not the populist garbage spewed by the current politicians that seem most popular, he’s proposals seem to be amongst the most practical I’ve heard and hit directly at the sources of our current problems without the racist rhetoric? To me this type of attitude sounds like you want more of the same that we’ve been having for the past 3 decades or am I perhaps missing something?

      @@siZobonaMakezaI did none of that, mine was to ask what is he stands for and how is what he is saying practical? It's all fancy words, and he is such a romantic. Liberalism wont make any head way in changing the situation in this country. Radical economic policies are needed and political will is a must. What Jan is saying is what we already have, we have had more than once. It yielded no results through various ANC presidents. And If you think Jan will make any changes you are dreaming. He is merely a sophisticated version of Mandela. Good ideals don't matter in politics, he is a dreamer and it will end there. SA business won't just roll over because Jan one of their own is speaking. Even his party is elitist, and won't resonate with the majority of the people in the country.

      @@mthethelelimagqaza9072 there are what I believe to be inaccuracies in your statement but then again you seem to be fixed in your beliefs and points of view, who am I to propose an alternative perspective. I hope your wishes come true and you reap the rewards of what you wish for and able to find peace with the unintended consequences that may arise 👊🏾

    I had high hope based on the trailer. However I see intent to implement the same plans just with their subtle spin on it. Cant wait for the movement to gain traction then judge based on performance, because on paper everybody shines

    I guess politicians have been 'captured' a long time. If Business paid for their accomodation when they returned to SA. Obviously they returned favours once they came into power

    The more these corporate guys speak ,the more I think we need politicians. Yes they might be good in running municipalities or departments. I'm not sure but May 29 will decide.

    "The motto is: !ke e: /xarra //ke, written in the Khoisan language of the /Xam people, literally meaning diverse people unite. It addresses each individual effort to harness the unity between thought and action. On a collective scale it calls for the nation to unite in a common sense of belonging and national pride - unity in diversity."

    Afriforum is known for issues they have taken on, so what issues have these Citizans taken on? That will give us a good picture of what he stands for politically.
    This guy is well read which is great and seemingly great at climbing the corporate ladder but I doubt that makes for an effective politicians in South Africa,
