I love the BBC version of Poirot starring David Suchet - I watched through all of it a few years ago on Netflix and adored it. I haven't traditionally been a reader of cozy mysteries, but given how much I enjoyed that show I'm thinking I want to try reading some. Thanks for the great suggestions!
I’ve never read the Miss Fisher series or the Death in Paradise series. I’ll have to look these up! I loved the shows! My favorite Cozy series is the Bibliophile series by Kate Carlisle. I’m on a big Cozy kick right now... -Becky
Geraldine MacEwan is my favourite portrayal of Miss Marple too, I've watched them hundreds of times by now, but never tire of them haha. I must re-read the books again soon!
Note Best author (other than Christie) Dorothy L. Sayers Lord Peter Himsey and Harriet Vane, there is actually a chronological thread, very thin, in there.
Great video. I’ve added some of these to my list. Like the sound of Kerry Greenwood and I always remember seeing my Uncle with a Agatha Christie book in his hand when I use to visit.
I am a huge Miss Marple fan--and also love watching the Phryne Fisher TV shows as well as Death in Paradise shows. It bends the genre of cozy a bit, but I love to read Amanda Cross's Kate Fansler series.
This MUST be the Autumn I read Phryne Fisher - or watch ( never knew, thanks )… for a cosy crime set in quintessential English villages I enjoy the "Cotswolds" series by Rebecca Tope - a house sitter and her dog encounter a murder in each village! The insular character of the villages are well described, and a definite cosy tale for a wet Sunday. Also, can I say how amazing that deep berry colour looks on you - very seasonal ! : )
I’ve only just finished the first book in the first cosy mystery series I’ve ever read. Murder at the Brightwell by Ashley Weaver which is the 1st in the Amory Ames series. Natalie from My Reading Days recommended it to me and I loved it! I highly recommend it if you haven’t checked it out yet :)
This is my fave genre I love Agatha Christie’s books I didn’t mind the phryne Fischer books love the show but I couldn’t get into her other series about the bakery. I enjoyed a Robert thorogood recently too I laughed at these too. I enjoyed death in paradise The series I love love love are both written by mcbeaton the Hamish Macbeth series and her Agatha raisin series The other author I find fun is Laura Levine who writes the Jaine Austen mysteries ( jaine is a writer but her forte is toilet commercials)
Loved Phryne Fisher TV series. Haven't read the books but would love to pick 'em up. Never read Poirot or Miss Marple, but am a die-hard Sherlock Holmes fan. Reminds me, been a while since I read 'em. Got to dust the old collection for a re-read soon. Another author, whose works I have been meaning to get back into for a while, is James Hadley Chase (one of the best thriller writers ever). Going on a bit different tangent, have you read DROOD by Dan Simmons? If not, I earnestly recommend it.
Good video, good choices, but I get so tired of people (like Amazon) calling stories with the same character a "series". A series has an over arching story or history arc. There is no arc in the Agatha Christie detective stories. That said Agatha Christie is the best. Note Miss Fisher is a series there is some history between the stories, Miss Marple IS NOT. I will look into Thoroughgood. Thanks so much sorry about the rant.

David Suchet as Poirot is amazing, I agree

Joan Hickson is definitely my favourite Miss Marple. The definitive nosy old biddy 😂😂😂
I watch the Death in Paradise show! I had no clue it was a book series too!
Haha, it is! :D

Have you read any of the Inspector Gamache novels by Louise Penny? They take place in French Canada and I think you would really enjoy them.
I haven't, so thank you for the recommendation! :D
mystery is a genre I need to explore more! I'll definitely add those to my tbr
Hope you like them if you get to them

Fab video. I love all these series! I would also recommend the Lady Hardcastle mysteries by TE Kinsey. The first one is A Quiet Life in the Country :)

Right now I’m enjoying the Aunt Dimity series by Nancy Atherton.
Awesome, haven't heard of that one!
