- A Great Indian Curry and a Colourful Walk from Liverpool St Station to Brick Lane E1.
As I make my way to Sheba in Brick Lane for some Indian cuisine, I have a browse in Old Spitalfield Market to find a colourful walk. A group of people calling themselves The Colour Walk - who love having their picture taken and socialising with everyone. A very uplifting social event.
Arriving at Sheba Indian restaurant Brick Lane for a great garlic chicken bhuna curry and the ever popular mushroom rice - followed by a deluge of food tasting experiences including lobster, garlic naan bread, sizzling chicken and lamb shank.
An Indian and Bangladesh food sensation
The Queen of Brick Lane which neighbours The King of Brick Lane (City Spice)

Omg, that all looked FANTASTIC, but Indian food is always number 1 in my book! Always makes my mouth water when you do Indian vlogs, defo need a trip to the barbers though Darren 😂😍
Lamb on the bone is the most flavourful curry you can eat, we always cook it that way at home. The marrow adds a real depth to the taste.
Oh this video takes me back to 1976,
Soon as the Mercurial DJ mentioned Liverpool Street Station i knew i was in for a treat.
Seeing the Wordly known ' Dirty
Dicks' just brought back so many memories.
Also seeing the wonderful buildings painted up was a nice surprise, and also one of my great friends from Kilkenny the Yorkshire Canary man
namely Ollie Quinn has a shop named after him there too...
Onto the fayre @ Sheba , God Almighty what a spread !!
The Boy done well to be fair, all looked the bizz, you can always rely on the Dazzler to tuck into anything spicy.
And as i write this im salivating at that lamb shank, superbly presented.
Bad hair day or not the Boy comes up trumps everytime, all part and parcel of the DJ image.
This was an Epic vlog i enjoyed it just as much as Darren filmed and edited it
and a doggy bag to boot..
10/10

Wind swept and all fooded out Charles, a crazy amount tried and tested
A great area from Liverpool St station onto Old Spitalfield. A short walk but full of sights to behold.
Stay safe
Ha … we forget don’t we that our stomachs are an actual physical space for food and once full the desire to eat what you still think you want and see in front of you quickly becomes an impossible … and very frustrating task!! Still … they gave you a goody bag … thank goodness we can do it all over again … and again … cos food is such a pleasure Darren! 🍲🍤🍗🍹
Living the dream, my friend! Living the dream. You must pinch yourself at times. Where did it all go right!
Good luck to you. You are having some sort of Indian summer. And long may it continue. Enjoy your content, and look forward to hopefully many more episodes into the future. Especially with your sidekick, Lee.😎👏🍷
My word, extra naan, lamb shank, chicken, pilau rice, Bengal lobster. If those are a couple of small dish tasters, then I’m a yak. I was certain Darren would go for the Bollywood Blast. Congrats on hitting 20k subs👍👏
Nice one Mike
Yeah, pretty exceptional food & fantastic hospitality as well it seems. 👍
I was helping out with my mate's art installation just down the road from Shoreditch once. Everyone left and there were all their glasses of wine on the tables so I helped myself. I was a bit twisted by then so went to Whitechapel screaming at people to tell me the identity of Jack the ripper. God only knows how I got back to the hostel I was staying in that night hahaha!
The whole place just has a vibe of it's own.
That meal looked fabulous Darren.👍👍👍
Wow 😮
Used to stay in old montague street years ago. Nice to to see good Indian restaurants again on Brick Lane again.
Couldn’t face all that food, how good of them to pack it up to take home. Looked good but the lamb tikka seemed a bit tough to cut. Another superb video Darren you are such a winner
Oh my god Darren I couldn’t believe all that food came after you’d eaten the meal you ordered, it looked like a banquet fit for a king never mind a Queen
Yep; its defo a....'' jeez or oh my Lord''. Top class fodder
@@brianterry8317 👍
Looked lush mate. Will definitely be in brick lane to sample the delicious Indian food very soon.
Watched you for a long time Darren and you love your spice as I live in Thailand you certainly spice my life up I watch you everyday and your reviews are brilliant keep it up mate phil conway
Seriously I can’t believe how much food you had on your table. As for tasters, they’re like big meals. Looked so good but I think you prefer City Spice. When I lived in Poplar I used to get it delivered from a place called The Gaylord which was on the IOD. It was delicious, don’t know if it’s still there.
Correct Karen. 👍😊
I see you had one eye on Eaterly at the beginning.😉it’s like you are tracing me. I love the walk from Liverpool Street to Brick Lane.
Londons getting it's buzz back👏👏👏 . Cor blimey their feed you well today 😂😂😂.
You will go "POP" Darren !!
My wife's birthday today. Getting to Shoreditch for midday. Couple of cocktails then off for a curry! Looking likely to be City Spice. Thanks for the video DJ.
Have a great day 👍🙂
Looks spot on.
Gosh Darren, that was a lot of food! I was feeling bloated watching you!😂😂😂
Another great Vid!!...The food looked so nice, London town Boooomin Love it!!. Darren you are the curry Man!
Looks so nice love lamb they certainly gave u feast , hope you ok as you looked tied thanks for great vlog Darren j
Wind swept 😊
Next time I in London I will visit here and when I do I will invite you along…great food and vlog!!!!!
18.11 the bloke walks past and sticks his tong out ha ha cheeky bugger. Great video and that food looks perfectly cooked. You can tell the difference when the chef has a real passion for the food he serves. Bet you did not eat for a few hours after that.
The rest of the day without eating Mark - crazy amount
🏴👏 going to have to stop watching your content at night, I’m always starving when I go to my bed 👏🏴
Looked good , the lamb starter looked tough
Blimey fella what a great load of scran you had there, I was starting to get worried that they'd held you hostage and was about to send a team in to rescue you. 😂
Great vlog daz
Wow, I am well impressed and need to visit both the Queen and King of Brick Lane, very impressive!
Love the way you give sufficient time showing the excellent menu so one can see everything on offer
Great video Darren what a feast the food spot on. I don't know how you manage to eat so many meals
Me neither
Very colourful vlog coming to big smoke 💨 this weekend my friends taken me to moulin rouge
Awesome, have fun
Free advertising for them and free food for you. Winner
Thanks Darren :-)
Thank you for inviting me down
Now I'm starving!!😋
I think it was Dr Johnson who said " If your bored of London. You're bored of Life". I've been away since 1989 but gotta agree there.
True words
Oh Darren, it’s like torture mate. It’s teatime and I’ve starving now and we have to go to the supermarket before we can think about tea. That looked splendid food.
Food looks delicious
Fantastic vlog Darren on my favourite food, Curry! Nice gesture from them with the taster menu, glad to see you took it home in a doggy bag. Just wondering which restaurant you prefer out of the two? On looks alone it would be City Spice for me although Sheba's offerings did look good. Love the walkabout bits beforehand you're doing now.
The King of Brick Lane for me Kevin
Great views Darren your filming is getting better and better with each vlogs, thanks for sharing 👍 😁
Thanks Kazz, appreciate it 👍
Wow they sure spoilt you food looked good 😊👍
It's good to see you got a doggy bag dj, it went from a few testers to a man v food Indian buffet pretty fast, food looked great, you're eating like a king 👌
That was a LOT of food to bring you after you had already eaten your starter and main. I didnt think a taster was the whole dish. No wonder you had a bag full to take home.
Very nice review darren
Hi Darren, over in los cristianos, next time your here try the Indian called mint mate, its spot on
Yes
Thanks for the heads up
Darren the food looked out of this world off the charts.
Off the Charts man I love your gigs nice one Daz👍
Thank you kindly
Bengali Lobster looked fantastic. Definitely gonna visit the Sheba.
Some amazing dishes on that menu, the naga ones especially! And the portions were generous too, all looked so well prepared, tasty etc, I was salivating sitting here….especially when the taster dishes arrived!
Darren back in the 70's and 80's whilst living in "Straty" Stratford to everyone. Trains to Clacton etc would not stop at Stratford so you would have to get a train in to Liverpool Street and then get a Train that passed Stratford to Clacton etc
The same use to apply on the way home, the train would go past Stratford to Liverpool Street then we would have to catch a train to Stratford
(A right Kurfuffle thosedays"
Trains Stop at Stratford nowadays.
Your Curry looked nice.
It was great seeing Spitalfields as well
Look forward to your next stream Darren
Best wishes
Lee
👍🏻👍🏻😁
Nice little walking tour first up...Big menu, reasonable prices, good service. You had a heap of food, to me it all looked colourful, nice presentation and quality ingredients. Enough tucker in the doggy bag to last a while, stick some in the freezer. then put in Chef Mike to re heat. From me a 8.5.
Blimey they fed you well Daz ! Food looked delicious and good portions also 👍🏴
Food looked great Darren but you didn't seem as enthused about Sheba as you do when in City Spice? It's difficult I know because certain restaurants do a better version of some dishes than others and vice versa. City Spice mushroom rice looks better to me tbh but Sheba bigger portion so swings & roundabouts.
Wow that was a feast. That'll keep you going for a few days Darren. Nice to see the different places and what they offer. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the rest of your evening. 🥰🌞🥰Xxx
Thanks June - even the doggy bag was huge
@@DarrenJohn It sure was. I'm jealous lol! Enjoy. 😆😉xxx
Loved the look on the waiters face when I ordered the Bollywood blast with xtra chillis. First class food & service
Always wait for the head nod to start after the first mouthful.😂
Wow, that Lamb Shank looked awesome.
After you had your food I thought you were filming someone else's table, that was mad. The lamb shank looked great as did the chicken, but more than the great review on the restaurant your enthusiasm for London comes through more and more, and the Colour walkers were great, mad as a box of frogs, but great. Where next?
You have enough food there for about four people, can't wait to get back to the UK for a decent curry 🍛
Blimey, Darren! Thought that additional food was just for you to film. Didn't realise they'd brought it for you to eat. 😧 I was struggling watching you faced with it and sampling it 🤧😳
Love seeing the colour walk! What a fantastic idea - we could all use abit of brightness in our day and scientifically the human brain produces more serotonin seeing certain braight colours, hopefully they bring alot of happiness to peoples day! Love the street art, abit like Manchester you could never get bored. Food looks amazing, i love the grilled chicken and the whole fat saucy prawn dish
absolutely top review again I wished the Indian food here in Miami was that good I'm originally from London keep the good work up
A windy UK to a warm Miami 👍😊
Great stuff Darren. I'm no Indian food fan but watching your vlogs at least makes me willing to give it another go.
Looked lovey food and a lot of it
Loads Andy
Nice one Darren, that looked fantastic.
You are a deceptively good little eater!
Well done!
Looks great, on the bone with an Indian not usually for me but why not. Come up S.Yorkshire and review a curry house please!!
Maybe one day!
Darren ,
I have just completed the glass facade at 135 ,155 Bishopsgate , it would be great if you could show What Eataly have to offer with there amazing food hall and restaurant.
It's a great place Andrew - however, it is mainly snacks and deli. Not sure it's vloggable.
I was involved with 100 Bishopsgate a while ago
This got my taste buds going! Food looked fabulous, just talked my other half into going to Sheba this Saturday, thanks a million 👍
Oh wow, food looks absolutely amazing. Generous massive portions, they certainly didn't go stingy with the portions.
Brilliant curry
GREAT FOOD d,j. GREAT VLOG. Hide your aftershave LEE IS on his way. 😂
You got that right
Another enjoyable video Darren, I have been to Sheba a number of times over the years when in London and never personally had a bad meal/drink in there!
And if I remember correctly it opened sometime in 1972??
When will you do some more vlogs in Kent like Dartford, Bexleyheath, Swanley, Orpington...etc?? 😁
Maybe some day if I'm over that way
@@DarrenJohn That would be great Darren, as you know them parts of Kent don't take too long from London!
Esp if you get a fast train can take less than 40 mins to get to Dartford/Bexleyheath 👍🏻
Esp love the parks-Dartford Park + Danson Park!
As you prob know Mick Jagger/Keith Richards came from Dartford + Kate Bush lived in Welling!
The food simply looked "Off the charts!"
Hey Darren great to see you again in Brick Lane, and the curry looked amazing!!! I'm soooooo jealous tbh... Love Paula in sussex
What a legend, that lamb shank looked tasty. Bet your sore this morning 😂
Wonderful vid Darren... Nice tunes too ... blessings brother 🎩®️©️🏴⚘
Thank you kindly
Chicken bhuna - my favourite! Great choice, DJ. 👍🏻
Absolutely love lamb tikka. Food looked banging DJ
Great video Darren. Food at Sheba looks lovely, will give it a go next time I'm in Brick Lane. Cheers mate, enjoy your vids.

Thanks so much Alli
Great vlog Darren. Love all the little bits of London that you put in Makes it really interesting
You are so lucky to have all these places on your doorstep.
So much food. I could have definitely helped you to finish those TASTERS !
Glad you enjoyed it
I am glad I found your chanel 😊
Welcome!
Could you make a video about Hungarian food please ? Iam from Hungary have been living in West Yorkshire for 10 years. If you visit Leeds some time I would show you some lovely unique food of my country 🤗
Sheba looks a good spot... after seeing this I'll have to get an Indian this weekend. Great vlog Darren 👍
Always worries me when places are hanging onto outdated accolade signs dating back over 15 years
I spent nearly 20 years working on Bishopsgate, and many of the Brick Lane restaurants you have reviewed, have been part of my lunch/dinner during that time. Awesome video, love it!
Thanks for sharing John
i DARREN THAT LOOKS A MASING AND OF THE CHARTS AND I GAVE IT 10 OUT OF 10 AND I AWAS IN JOU YOER BLOKS WITH BEST WISHERS FROM ROB
I really enjoy the walk to your food review and seeing the sights of London. The food reviews are great but so glad it's not all you show us. Cheers
That means a lot, thank you
Hi Darren, great video as usual and as I live in London, I’m making a note of places that you’ve eaten so that I might try it out. By the way, I didn’t want to say anything but as you mentioned your ‘bad hair day’, may I suggest that as you have short back and sides, the next time you have a haircut, get the barber to take a bit off the top so it doesn’t fly all over the place and you’d look way better!!!
Not yet Roger, there was a time I didn't have a fringe - so I am embracing long fringes for the time being 👍😊
That curry looks good! Lovely colours and not skimpy portions! Lovely vlog as always even with a bad hair day! Big hello from me in NL xx
Thank you so much 🤗
The hair was a result of the recent storms in the UK
Hi Darren, that food looked incredible, I wish that I was in the UK & was able to try it. Luckily I have a great Indian restaurant near me called Bombay Baloo which I enjoy on special occasions . Great vids, keep them coming.
Thanks Joseph
Hi, The lamb starter looked very Tough ? .. I have to say you looked ill when you came out ? - Food overload ? .. Maybe have a Detox for a couple of weeks ...
Food looked amazing..you defo got the Kings treatment in there...I've booked my hols for the end of June and will defo be hitting Curry lane...great video as always Sir
Love Sheba! Should have had the bollywood blast though.
Maybe one day
Absolutely love the walks around London. They make me think that in years to come, people will view them the same way we look back on past times videos. Curry looked amazing as always and it looks like curry all week for Dinner xxxxxxxx
So true!
Wowzers they brought you shed loads.
What was the rating out of 10 would you say?
Those prices are on the steep side for brick lane......
