I was asked by Leon Gallery to make a new essay on the Kartilya ng Katipunan by Emilio Jacinto and the importance of the only known extant remaining printed copy, the text and the revolution they joined is a testament to the commitment they are willing to make, including sacrifices, to buy us our freedom.
Some said it was a nativist document, some say it is actually influenced heavily by Western enlightenment. My personal analysis is that it is the melding of the East and the West, it contains both the wisdom of our ancestors but also demonstrated that the Katipunan were modern and updated. It is a document as Filipino as it can be.
I rather made a long article which was shortened and excerpted for the catalogue. The long version is planned to come out on a later date.
Download the catalogue to read the article: leon-gallery.com/pdf/ACC_2024...
This also coincides with the showing of the Pingkian The Musical, one of the most beautiful and creative theatrical output on the Philippine Revolution in recent years, by Tanghalang Pilipino.
Thank you Ninang Lisa Guerrero Nakpil for the opportunity.

Emilio Jacinto true genius, Diwa ng Katagalugan.
Katipunan - Govierno de facto y de jure recognized by Spanish Colonial government bilang banta.

Akala ko noon ang "Tagálog" ay hango sa "Taga-ilog".
