I think lot of the comments are missing the point (or at least one of them). Getting good arifacts. There isn't any universal way to get a good character. You can have a C6 R5 character, but you might wait years to get a specific piece. I have grinded the Emblem domain ever since it came out, and I'm yet to get a singe ER sands that has crit as a substat. Literally the only way to get good builds is getting lucky. It is only that. I have otherwise well invested characters, but I just don't have the artifacts I need.

    • @whisperoni

This is exactly the major point I was attempting to make, and the reason I haven't ranked up many of the characters that people, generally, showcase in their videos. There is no guide, that I know of, that comes right out and says something like "just a heads up, you're going to need OP artifacts for this." Instead they just showcase some "F2P" characters and either never mention artifacts, skim over them really fast, or wait until the end of their video to show them.
So originally I was going to include more than just IWTL Gaming's video. One of them was Jyo's Spiral Abyss Guides video. But I ended up changing my mind. Which was probably a mistake because there's tons of comments saying "use Jyo's Sprial Abyss Guides". But even in his video for 12-3 (The ULTIMATE Guide to "Cracking" the Wenut) says that 12-3-1 is, and I quote, "about making sure you can output enough DPS to clear this side quickly..." and "in terms of timing, you're aiming to clear this half in under one minute, ideally finishing close to the 9: 10 mark..." So if you check his artifacts for 12-3-1, it's literally the same story as in the IWTL video that I showcased. Which is part of the reason why I didn't end up including it. There was a lot of dialogue that I cut from my script because I felt the video was going to be too long for the algorithm. But now I know for next time that a more detailed explanation is worth it. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to pin your comment. And thanks so much for mentioning this, I really appreciate it!

You're not wrong however in your particular case mix and matching stats on other pieces could be as good of a solution here than just waiting for the perfect piece to fall out of the skies. Get your crit in your other pieces. Settle for atk on your ER sands. Sure it doesnt sound as good but that's also a big part of the game especially if you're f2p (or whale really we're almost all equal in the RNG hell that is the artifact hunt). Not all artifacts are perfect and some of them just stack one kind of stat rather than another so it's up to you to try and swap stuff around while you wait for something better to drop. You could also mix and match weapons depending on the main stat you're lacking. For example sometimes its better for me to play Kazuha with Sac sword or favonius even if Iron sting/xiphos looks very sexy on him just so i get to ult every rotation.

Not saying abyss is easy because thats just not true but saying you need OP 40+ cv artifacts on all your characters is also equally untrue

    • @whisperoni
      @whisperoni  Рік тому +1

@@Crusader-yq1bf I would hope that's true but that's kinda the point in this video. All of the guides i found had the same issue, it appears you do need incredibly op cv based on what they show. And i do know that you need far more than any of my artifacts can provide because i have many more characters and teams that i used that i didn't show. which, at first, lead me to believe I needed a lot of better Pyro characters but upon closer inspection it was op artifacts that allowed other cc to clear 12-3-1 fast enough. And that's what i mean about the problem with "f2p friendly" guides, no one shows decent artifacts that can work, just godly. But it's not like i found absolutely every guide out there, so if you know of one that demos this for v3-5 of the abyss, definitely feel free to share. I would really appreciate it 😊

F2p guides shouldn't be about showcasing 1-2 teams and saying use those to clear abyss, they should help newer players understand what is needed for each floor and chamber and that is why you choose those 2 teams and mention suitable substitutes. In this Abyss the first half of floor 12 has a lot of cryo enemies so using pyro units helps, everyone got a free xiangling so give ideas to newer players of how to utilise her or other pyro dps in her place. Second half dendro teams work wonderfully. Every abyss cycle is a bit different from the last so it's also great to recommend characters that are universally good so we don't end up with the issue of I spent all my resin leveling up xinyan because I saw a youtuber use her and then next abyss she isn't a viable choice at low investment.

Most people will have the choice to either build or ignore her after their first and second 5 stars if they didn't end up going with Noel for god knows why...

Good advice, i have an f2p account, I never struggle. One thing i will say, is that talents 9 9 9, level 85-90 characters, weapons level 90 and level 20 artifacts ofc not the best quality is basically necessary. You HAVE to invest a lot into characters to get 36 stars. I can see why players encounter difficulties, they just don’t understand what the baseline for a 36* abyss character is. But ye, meta guides/tierlists help for teambuilding, but personally i dont use toptier meta teams, my main dps is yanfei (c5 lmao) and the other half is a scuffed alhaitham with harbinger of dawn and kuki c0 (she doesnt have 100% uptime) but it works and i have 30-60 seconds left on each chamber even against the wenut

As a veteran since version 1.0, here's my advice: Don’t overestimate the importance of Abyss so don’t let Abyss to dictate your pulls and game experience. Firstly, you just loose 300 primos a MONTH between 36 stars and 27 stars. This is LESS then 2! pulls a month, 90% just 2 useless 3star weapons. The strong 4stars support chars are well known: xingqiu, xiangling, bennett, sucrosse, fischl, diona, kuki and yaoyao. If you care about Abyss so make sure to put the focus to these supports chars first. But don't rush as it is not the primos worth, just take your your time. Secondly, sooner rather than later you will reach a state in the game where there’s nothing else to do if you enjoy playing Genshin regularly :).
I will be honest, I play the abyss just for the primos. I take my 600 primos per Abyss and don’t touch it again for 2 weeks until it resets again. Also, I play the Abyss because I don’t have anything else to do in the game :)

This is why 36* is mostly timegated, comp-gated, and skill-gated, not money-gated. The F2P/whale distinction matters less imo. I first achieved 36* three months after starting, but that was because the two teams that I invested in matched up decently against the abyss lineup back then. I then failed to 36* the abyss after that because the match up was horrible.

Deeper understanding of game helps as well, so KQM TCL or TC content creators as Jstern25 , Zajef77 and many more will help. As for issues I see pretty often are: level 90 on characters that don't care much (most atk scallers), throwing good artifacts out ( low CV ones with high EM/ER/ATK rolls, CV is good metric , but it's not everything) forcing 2 or 4 piece sets even if they have better artifacts on off -set. And most importantly: level 20 Xingqiu. I 36*-ed without Bennett, Xiangling, anemo as whole ,but not once was I able to 36* without hydro, and Xingqiu is best hydro.

In a local genshin discord server i'm in, I usually participate in helping what's wrong with people accounts.
      I basically always demand:
      - the all character page from hoyolab
      - character card from enka / vague idea of their artifact investment
      - Their weapons
      to see:
[which teams they could bring into abyss?]
[was their failures coming from some skill issue?]
[Is there any quick effective improvement I could give them right away?]
The nearest to the description from this video about F2P artifact investment level is probably the content which the CC plays Spiral Abyss for pleb accounts, and even then some accounts are just not possible because the investment still aint deep enough, not even god tier player could save them from their bad investment level. This video reminded me of f2p keqings abyss clears. Sometimes only 4 stars with one or two five stars here and there (that's realistic for most of us). A lot of 3* weapons and 4* artifacts with ratios that a lot of players would call "bad ". And yet they clear every time while giving advice and strategies / explain mechanics to help

  • @adamantorb
    @adamantorb Рік тому +19

F2P which started since 1.6 , something to add on about the Abyss which may be helpful to beginners.
You don't have to clear each phase in single run.
Work out your team to first clear 12-3 3 stars first , then work your way 3 star 12-2 then 12-1.
You may even use same team to do rerun to have burst ready at beginning of each stage.
Abyss guides are not build guides, in otherwords they provide information like optimal team composition and what behaviours the bosses may have.
Often the same channel provides character build guide, which provide C0 references which would be more helpful before you venture into the Abyss.
Good Luck in the Abyss Everyone :)

To new f2p players ,i would like to give some tips
1)NEVER LEVEL CHARACTERS TO LVL 90 ,just leave them to 81.
2)your 1st priority should be leveling your weapons.
    3)Use elemental reactions.
4)If a characters uses EM as their main stat for dealing damage then ur free to lvl your character to 90.
5)u don't need to 36 star the abyss if u just do it for primos :)
6)here are some characters which are absolutly broken in almost all situations:- bennet ,xinque ,xianling ,sucrose ,kazuha ,nahida

      @Ottobon Рік тому +36

I would disagree with the 90 part. You should start with just getting final ascension, 80/90, work on talents, but any sort of Elemental Mastery based team like Hyperbloom, Swirl, Burgeon, and Niloubloom at least wants the main trigger for the reactions at 90, it increases reaction damage by a whole 33-34%, its absolutely massive. Aggravate/Spread also scales very hard with level but that is still more a case of relying on artifacts.
Hyperbloom this would typically be Kuki or Raiden. Fischl gets a mention because when used in combination in these teams she wants a EM Sands but otherwise Damage and Crit.
Swirl this would be Sucrose/Heizou (EM build Heizou) or even Sayu.
      Burgeon this would be Thoma.
Nilou "bountiful" bloom teams typically its your on field Hydro healer and applier, so Barbara or Kokomi.
Always always level 90 those characters, especially if f2p when playing those teams, its a huge increase to what is the vast majority of the teams damage more times then not.

I'd argue you don't even need to max ascend some characters if they don't have strong reaction scaling. leaving a character at 70/80 and all talent levels at 8 will get you like, 90% of the performance for a little over half the cost of an 80/90 character with level 9 talents.
it takes 26 boss drops to get to 70/80, and the last ascension costs 20. it takes the equivalent of 17 gold books to get a talent from 1 to 8, while going from 8 to 9 is 12 gold books alone and another 16 gold books to crown. allocating those resources to building another character will let you get much farther with what you currently have, while still leaving room to grow. diminishing returns hits hard man.

  • @Load_the_ducks
    @Load_the_ducks Рік тому +6

Just a tip, generally it's not worth spending the extra mora and XP books to get a character. HP scaling characters (tao, yelan and nilou) are the exception to this, but typically for main damage dealers, after getting important talents to level 8 and the character to 80 ascended, it's more worthwhile to focus on getting good artifacts.

Yeah the amount of investment needed to 36 an abyss in quite unrealistic for a newer player, i think dendro has helped a lot as you basically have one team sorted with hyperbloom which takes minimum investment, though even then how good it is is based on what characters you get, like lisa compared to kuki in hyperbloom is a massive difference. Another problem i feel with these f2p guides is that all the characters they use are c6 which is like definitely not happening for a new player, most newer players wont even have all the characters in a guide, im a low spender and i dont even have 1 heizou. The big problem is just how, the best team for your account will be different for someone elses depending on what characters they even have. Like these “f2p” showcases have like 8 different 4 stars at c6, by that time you definitely have like at least 2 or 3 most likely 4, 5 star characters, which make a biggg difference in some cases like nahida or kazuha.

Don't try to rush things up. Did you ever think what else would you do after you start 36 star every abyss? Build another character and what else? Just explore and farm materials for others? There is no end game. The game is all about building character and clearing abyss. If I do it from the start like just in a month what's the point playing it regularly and having constellations and weapons upgrade? That would break the game. And the objective of playing a game is to have fun not to end it asap.

I think honestly a lot of this comes down to skill issues. This is a bit funny but even tho I've been playing since 1.0 and a ton of my chars have max investment as well as really good artifacts, I still struggle to clear the abyss.
Meanwhile my friend logs on to my account and clears with tons of time to spare. When i watch myself play, I see a lot of struggeling to find right times for dodges, messed up rotations, not controlling the enemy movements right etc. I also see you in this video die a lot (feels relatable btw) but then i look how others behave in the same situation with perfect Iframes positioning, dodges and so on. I think people massively underestimate this part of the game and get distracted by the high investment of some of the chars in guides.
A lot of guide makers (esp in earlier days) used to use super low investment characters only lvl 60 with 111 talents and relied on clever reactions and skill. I could never do this even with maxed out chars cause it requires skill i don't have time or energy to properly learn esp with unreliable internet connection (lags and such)
When i watch her play or iwtl or other guide makers it always makes me realize how much comes down to skill, reaction time and good internet connection (no lags etc.)

I started playing during 2.2 and ever since then I’ve collected almost every single 5* character and every single 4* with high cons, multiple 5* weapons, invested on the best units possible and I still cannot manage to 36* the abyss. Once I reach floor 12 it becomes a nightmare. I could not understand how my highly invested 5* teams were still struggling and it all came down to skill. A big factor is that I play on my phone and it’s not as smooth as it would be on a pc even though my internet connection is perfectly fine, my rotations are definitely not the best ones, can’t dodge to save my life and have no idea how i-frames work given how I recently just found out about them. You’ve made one of the best points that no one seems to mention because everyone thinks as long as your characters are highly leveled and with nice artifacts then abyss should be a piece of cake

I'm someone that is very used to play without shields or relies on paper thin ones as crystalize or interruption resistances like Xingqiu + and dodging and even so, then the amount of times I've got shredded to death by these enemies is annoying af, so I can imagine how hard it might be for players with less skill. Heck I've seen Zhonglis with tanky shields get those obliterated quickly too, so figure out :(
So yeah, having the skill is needed plus knowing the enemies mechanics is a must.
I think trying to breakdown and understanding what the guide makers are doing is also very important as it can make you discern who's doing it properly and who is just bruteforcing their way with cracked artifacts. Imho IWTL is not that great in these cases as he fucks up rotations or casting orders for teams, but because he's a whale the $$$ investment compensates the human error to some degree. It's unfortunate but the less money you have the more skill and understanding you gotta develop to make up for. But even whales require some skill degree, as there are some out there with C6R5s that can't clear either because they don't know what to do or poor rotations and team compositions.

and yes. c6 r5 does of course make everything much easier... I think what iwtl does well is break down character skills and show how to properly build them and how they can be viable... I do like watching his videos to get a quick overview on the new chars...
Tho I think a lot of the teams he plays, he just tests out real quick and doesn't bother much to get the perfect runs. If he really plans it out his rotations are some of the smoothest i know xd

  • @meiauu
    @meiauu Рік тому +3

As a whale, I’ve never refreshed resin and I can’t imagine most people see it as a valuable use of resources. An extra 60 resin is wasted on artifacts when 99% of the artifacts you get are going to be trash, and at best you can grind some more resources to build a character a little faster. Even then, you can only squeeze out one extra boss run from it. So I really don’t think that’s the determining factor between whales vs f2p.
As others have pointed out there’s some confusion between f2p and investment here, and for the most part the problems mentioned in the video can be solved with more time investment and game knowledge. I’d even say artifacts are the one thing that equalize f2p and high spending accounts, since in the end getting a good artifact just comes down to time and luck rather than money. But I just want to add that I personally feel you only need good artifacts for specific characters. I hyper-invest into main dps characters with great artifacts, but sub dpses get “ok” artifacts and supports usually just get a working 4p with relevant main stats. I don’t even have all +20 artifacts on most of my supports and some aren’t even leveled to 80, I just try to get the stats they need to be functional. I simply don’t have the time or resources to get every character an amazing set, so I prioritize. So I don’t think you need to feel pressured to lv 90 9/9/9 every character with godly artifacts just to 36* abyss. Unless you’ve been playing for a long time it’s just not realistic.
The thing that f2p players don’t have over whales though is (usually) characters. F2p players budget their rolls more tightly and are less likely to have as many 5*s depending on how long they’ve been playing, plus they’re unlikely to roll for cons or weapons. If you have a larger roster of characters, you have more options for “premium” teams and more flexibility to tailor your teams for abyss in the case a specific team is countered by the lineup, and that can make a big difference in performance. Besides that, having c6 5* and 4* characters and 5* signature weapons can be the difference between struggling and steamrolling abyss.
I liked zajef’s recent abyss video, where he went over specific team archetypes and their viability in the current abyss rather than what characters you must run together. Guides that focus more on strategies against opponents helped me a lot early on when I was struggling to 36*-stuff like where to position yourself, how bosses behave and how to set up for their phases. I like watching whale solo runs too, you can learn how to handle enemies from the way they approach chambers. If you have a good team with high investment but you’re still struggling, at that point you probably just need to improve your rotations and understanding of enemy mechanics.
Anyways, this was a well made video. The discussion has been interesting, so thanks for sharing.

I paused the video around 3min mark to comment: "I think your mistake is not considering the artifacts they are using on those showcases and maybe the talent levels too". But I decided to continue watching and sure enough it was that lol. I had the same reaction when I watched some guides(not really to learn from it but because I like the CC). I was like "No way I'm getting those kind of artifacts".
To my fellow players, f2p or not:
I'm a day 1 F2P player(not completely but my total is just $15 lol!). I first cleared abyss 5mos after the release of the game BUT that was when the abyss is far easier than it is now. After that clear, I struggled getting 36* again so I took my first clear as an achievement and settled in getting 33* on my next abyss runs. Forgot how long 'til I started getting 36* naturally(I say that but I definitely still sweat trying to get it lol) but I did enough abyss to fill the 'abyss run history' in-game with only 36*-runs.
I guess what I'm getting at is that there will be a point where you'll have a combination of well-built characters that will clear anything the abyss throw at you. I get the feeling of trying your best to clear the hardest fight the game can give you but no need to min-max everything right on the get-go just to feel burnt very early. Pace yourself and you'll have a good time.

Thanks so much for sharing realistic goals! This helps a lot with planning. I only started playing 45 days ago and I was getting confused with comments like "just slap this artifact set on and you're good to go" - like everyone talking about how fischl is insane even at lower level.....and mine was terrible at lvl 50, max allowed talents with lvl 70 stringless....then I realized artifacts are everything and there are specific stats required to pull off what they are showing!
I've realized that 3-4* artifacts can have some insane stats, you might not 36* with them but they carry you if you are new player. So I leveled the best ones up and they made a HUGE difference. Granted, killing things before ar45 is a cakewalk anyway but my point is, the game provides some amazing 4*characters and even baby artifacts can carry you until you can get the god tier stuff.
I will say, it is normal for gatcha and mmorpg games to take a year + of building characters/weapons/skills before you are strong enough to start tackling the hardest content, otherwise just pay $60 for a normal console game that you can defeat in one week/month - these slow grind games are designed to make collecting/refining/calculating gear as part of the fun of the game.
I'd love to see creators play more with weird ftp builds, like tank barbara, teams with ftp characters ppl seem to hate, or even see some fun team comps the community has come up with and test the dmg in abyss...a lot of whales are surprised what ftp veterans can come up with out of desperation and necessity lol

If I was making a F2P guide for Spiral Abyss, I'd focus on a few things:
    1) Pick a niche that will be able to handle the fight. Let's say it's a hyperbloom team.
    2) Come up with MULTIPLE TEAMS that exist in that niche, with a maximum of 3 5*s total in that team in between characters, constellations, and weapons. For that hyperbloom example, there's Nahida/Yelan/Xingqiu/Shinobu, Yaoyao/Xingqiu/Raiden/Alhaitham, Yaoyao/Xingqiu/Fischl/DMC, etc.
    3) Explain how the team works and how to make substitutions. A player may not have Shinobu yet due to RNG but does have Raiden, or may have c6 Fischl but neither of the others at all. F2P doesn't mean "only has 4*s", it means they will mot consistently be able to replicate the teams that show up in tutorial videos. And honestly this does not just go for F2Ps. I have a dolphin friend who started playing in 1.1 but has never pulled Barbara once (so every constellation she has was given out to players for free). I've been playing since 1.3 and my Bennett is still only c3-and my first copy of him was even purchased from the Paimon shop! So letting players know that it's okay if they use a different electro character, or at least giving alternative strategies, would help a lot.
    4) Start over again with a different niche. Maybe hyperbloom isn't the only way, so now we'll look at taser teams.
Other people's teams should always be an inspiration, not a goal.

You could shave off more grind time by:
    - stopping at Lvl. 80 for non-transformative reaction chars
    - stopping at level. 8 talent
    - no need to have godly artifacts for everyone, 150-180CV while hitting the ER requirements should be sufficient

No, he is not right. You never need to invest everything to max. Lvl70-80 and tallent lvl6-8 is max you need. I was clearing abyss on people's accounts that have lvl70 hu tao with lvl5 tallents, and many other. You just need to stop waste resources and invest in characters that widely used. Dont waste money in weapons banners, focus on characters, and you will find out soon that you have almost all 4* already C6. I'm f2p and i have 55 characters all lvlup and almost all 4* C6, all standard 5* already C3, except last one from sumeru. And i have resources for at least 3-5 new characters . I have never have leas than 10m mora for last 2years, 6k+ weapons crystals. And i have 30+ weapons all lvl 90. I dont understand why people have any problems with resources.

  • @skybattler2624
    @skybattler2624 Рік тому +1

    Issue I find already:
    1. You are ignoring the fact that you can actually farm those ores for weapons and via expeditions. Taking into those in account, the calculation would be drastically teduced, and a lvl 80 weapon (which is the minimum for support/sub DPS) will only take 1 day
    2. Lvl 16 artifacts are decent enough to 36* some specific Abyss archetypes, but this requires an Optimizer to maximize damage output
    3. TCs already did the math and depending on Abyss and Teams, you only need lvl 80/90 4 +20 artifact 6/6/6 talent Main Carries with 90/90 weapons and 70/70 4 +16 5* artifact 6/6/6 (or depending on character) with 80/80 weapons on supports/Sub DPS to 36* Abyss, which actually halves your computation (since almost 50% of the grind comes from leveling your weapons, artifacts, and such from lvl 80-90, and your talents from 6 to 10.) With this in mind, the average day to build one team is actually 150 days.

Very relatable. I'm similar case to you, Welkin + BP, never bought Genesis crystals but I play a lot longer and as result I have more 5-star characters, mostly C0, few lucky cases C1.
Two weeks per character is about correct, plus about one month for Friendship 10 (irrelevant for Abyss but that's where I consider the character done). I usually raise their talents to 8 at first, not 9.
In general I agree that major struggle of not just F2P but new players in general is that they don't have enough characters. Either they spread their resources too thin and have them underleveled, or they leveled up one party and after a bit of change that party is no longer relevant. I was hitting that problem a lot for about whole first year of my playing. What I've seen way too many people do is, after they realize their characters are weak, they lower their world level. Which further reduces speed of their progress.
7:55 Regarding artifact leveling, that calculation ignores the fact that you can get about 60k artifact exp "for free" every day from "Investigate" spots. Yes you must know what you're doing but there are videos around showing efficient artifact farming routes - you can be done within 20 minutes. That way you can get enough artifact exp for single artifact in 5 days with zero resin spent.
8:33 75 days for single character is WAY off. I play for about 890 days and have fully leveled up (level 89, 8/8/8 talents) and equipped (lv20 artifacts, lv90 weapon) 58 characters. That's less than 16 days per character on average. I even have a bunch of unused lv90 weapons and lv20 artifacts as I was improving my characters' equips over time. And Welkin + BP doesn't give you that much, my estimate is that it's about 30% on top of what we get for free. So for F2P it shouldn't be more than about three weeks. I think these estimates ignore many factors, such as free stuff we get from events and free stuff we can pick up around the world.

    2. to use a character in spiral abyss u dont need to lvl 90 your character mostly 80/90 is enough (the exp needed to 80->90 are around the same as 0-80) (except u play transformative reaction)
    3. skill, just lvl the character main skill , ex : xiangling and bennet lvl bust only (except u play transformative reaction)
    4. learn pattern (it help with dodge) and rotation, (if you have a godly reflect, you could skip building any healer)
    5. if you play transformative reaction just lvl your character to lvl 90 but leave skill to lvl 1

You just farm 1 domain and get 2 super strong sets now. People rly make abyss harder than it is in reality. Like if i get a character i wanna level up , I'll spend my resin and mora on talents weapons and the characters itself then artis , and that's i don't care about abyss, it's not worth the grind to get meta Characters perfectly build and even teams comps for all reactions, i rather build Characters i love , like Lvl 80/90 or 90/90 , talents 8/9/10, weapons 90/90 and just slap their favoured artifacts set with needed main set lol

then i pulled now for ayaka which comes out with diona and sucrose, and ayaka+diona+sucrose+barbara is another team. from that the next step is to improve these teams waiting for future kazuha/venti, kokomi(but actually i would just need to find mona in the standard banner). for now i didnt 36 stars abyss yet because apart my dps i didnt level the other characters, but hutao and ayaka alone just carried me to get max stars in the first 2 floors

Not really. I agree with the video's point on the unachievable nature of the F2P team, but for a different reason. There is no value in getting level 90 and talent 9 upgrades, this just inflate your time invested by a ridiculous amount. However, what should've been mentioned, that the video didn't point out, is the fact that these F2P guides are recommending extremely niche characters to invest in. Like, who would invest into Heizou and Xinyan, when there's a perfectly good Xingqiu on their account? These guides should be recommending universally strong characters, not an unimpactful, niche characters who will only stay relevant for 1 Abyss cycle.

You have to understand the baseline of clearing Abyss and getting 36 star smoothly:
    1. Having a team that compatible with the Abyss floor
    2. For DPS character you should aim for Lv80/90, talent level 1/9/9 (or whichever is essential for the character), having good ratio on artifacts (aim for 55/110 crit ratio, with enough ER to burst consistently)
    3. For support character, aim for Lv80/90, talent level 1/9/9 (or whichever is essential for the character), build them with enough ER and the stats they are scaling with (HP for Diona etc)
    4. Lv90 weapon, +20 all artifacts
    5. Good ping and skill

    Important information for newer players:
It's often not correct to spend resources on Lvl90. Instead stop at 80 and invest in the final ascension. The last 10 lvls have minimal increase in stats, but the cost is really high. I think it was about the same amount of books and mora to get a character from lvl 1 to lvl 80 as it is to get from 80 to 90.
This doesn't apply to characters that rely on Elemental Mastery, since EM damage is absed on char lvl. So basically all Dendro units want to be lvl 90.
But Bennet, Xiangling and Xingqiu are fine onm lvl 80

I like this video, but there is something I'd like to point out. The F2P guides that I have seen so far do not specifically say *"Play this exact team, and only these specific characters, with these specific weapons".*
In fact, they may showcase an example team going through the Abyss, but they also mention how the different teams can be modified/adapted to better fit your personal account and the Characters/Weapons that you have.
For example, they may show a Hyperbloom team using Nahida(Sac)/Raiden(DB)/Yelan(Fav)/Flex, but they would also mention that Raiden can be swapped for Cookie(DarkSword) or Lisa / Nahida for DendroMC or Collei or YaoYao / Yelan for Xingqiu(Sac) / etc.
You don't have to always level up the exact same teams or weapons as you see in the guides, and they make a good point of mentioning that.
Another good thing to remember is the fact that most of the time, the people making these types of guides tend to focus around good generalist 4star units that are simply always good in the META, and that most people will already have access to and built. Characters like Main CHaracter, Xiangling, Fischl, Xingqiu, Bennett, etc. are all universally good, and can be obtained for free (or through the shop if you missed the Events where they were given to players in the past).
Same for the weapons, where most people will have at least one or two leveled up weapon in each category (Sword, Claymore, Bow, etc.) which can be used if they do not have the same weapon shown in the video.
So I understand the concern when it comes to those guides, but most players (who play at all) will already have a built character of the different elements which can be combined into a specific archetype of team (Hyperbloom, Bloom, Burgeon, Electrocharged, Melt, Freeze, Vaporize, etc.). Sure, some characters might perform better than others in certain teams, but that doesn't mean they are the only viable option. (Same for weapons).
In that sense, most of the "F2P" Guides I've seen out there always take the time to explain what I have said, as well as offer alternatives to the specific characters and weapons they use in their team.
*In the end, I guess the only REAL issue is Artifact RNG. Sadly, whether you are a Whale or a F2P player, you are subject to the same RNG as everyone else... Nothing to do here except Grind away LOL!*

the video is good, but are points that don’t are necessarily true, for example, the effort to clear the abyss varies with the condition of the floors and the units that are build, in your calculations you considered that every talent has to be 9, but to many chars only 1 or 2 talents have to be upgraded and some chars don’t even need to upgrade talents.
It is difficult to learn the tc content, but to build with efficiency and to achieve 36 stars more faster is highly recommended to understand the mechanics of team build, elemental reactions and interaction with the enemys.
I liked the video, but as a f2p experienced player I can say that understanding the tc would help minimize the timing calculated to build chars

There are a few flaws in the analysis here. Firstly this does not focus on f2p friendly it's focused on extreme casual friendly. Why? because it assumes you start from nothing and have no resources i.e you don't play the game at all (but somehow abyss is something you wanna do). Secondly the days required to max a team are a massive overshoot. Teams consist of roles that need to be filed by characters and as such by fitting a role the need to utilize certain aspects of a characters kit become neglegable. For example at 4:49 it assumes every character needs to be leveled to 90 and have all their talents at least 9/9/9 from a practical standpoint why would anyone waste time and resources leveling benetts skill and normal attack ? Or xiangling's normal attack or skill when you never use them why would you also level them to 90 when you can just get their last ascention and leave them at 80 or 85 (you're not losing out on much damage you are losing a lot of xp books though). Regarding weapon ascention ores , you get a huge amount from just playing the game, personally i haven't seen myself drop bellow 3000 and i don't buy the battlepass. The only thing stopping a person from 36ing is the bs artifact system where you could grind for 2 months and still not get anything good while your friend timmie gets 3, 50cv artifacts per week. Finally, i think it's ignorant to assume that every character needs to be farmed for individually. There are a lot of ways to be efficient in farming. For example. If you're making a dendro team and are farming deepwood and guilded. you're not just farming for one character lets say the team you wanna make is (alhaitham, kuki, dendro main character and fischl) By farming the deepwood/guilded domain you're farming artifacts for all of them at the same time. If you're farming for a national team farming emblem pretty much does the same as the previous example.
A minor anecdote : i 36* abyss on my 6th month of starting the game. And have been since. I would advise more on pulling for versatile characters that can fit into many team comps. This way whenever abyss changes you don't have to build an entire new team from scratch. If you wanna start somewhere i'd reccomend kazuha and nahida in that order. Because dendro is really strong at a baseline it doesn't need nahida as much as p/h/e/c elemental teams need kazuha not only for the shread and buff but also for the amazing grouping.

Mobile gamer here, I have 2 f2p accounts, and I never thought the issue was with "paying to get characters easily" in the first place. This game consistently provides enough primogem sources to get a 5 star character every patch (you can either save for a bit or win your 50/50s LMAO) and being a low spender just helps you not spend hours milking every last bit of primogems available.
My main (started in 3.5) cleared abyss after 240 days active. Granted I went into this game completely blind and definitely had slow progress. I was able to do it with Ayaka and Yoimiya and ever since I got Raiden in 3.3 every abyss has been on easy mode with Ayaka freeze and rational. I also have Alhaitham now and while he is a bit more difficult to play, he's really fun so I'm not complaining lmao.
My alt is a standard banner only account after realizing that limited 5 stars made this game way too easy. That one cleared the abyss after 260 active days. I had a lot of fun building 4 star characters and I didn't hyperfixate on getting spiral abyss teams. Eventually did it with Sucrose national (c0 xiangling 😭) and Tighnari spread.
I will always say this, constellations on 4 stars matter more than 5 star characters sometimes. Any national team feels garbage to play before c4 Xiangling, and let me tell you, a new player isn't getting that anytime soon. And yes, artifacts matter quite a lot, especially in "f2p friendly" teams where you inherently need higher investment because you're only using 4 star characters.
Not to mention that Genshin guide content on UA-cam is a VERY big rabbit hole of misinformation, especially with artifacts being rated with crit value instead of stat/roll value.
You could say that spiral abyss is just a playtime check but honestly, not being able to do proper rotations and dodge/position correctly often is the difference between getting 3 or 2 stars on a chamber. My first full clear on my alt had to save over a minute in 12-3-2 just to be able to get 3 stars (it was the triple spaced out eremite summoner abyss) and that took 4 HOURS of optimization, trial and error.
Rant over, TLDR, basically the abyss is playtime gated with a hint of proper gamesense requirements. You can't expect a blind playthrough player to quickly clear abyss especially with web/youtube guides being terrible and the abyss being everchanging and tailor made for the current banner 5 stars.

The real problem is that players want to copy 1 by 1 and then blame it on the guide when they fail.
Players would be in a better spot if they knew what they're doing, the current rotation has the Wenut as an example, I finished it (raged a little but finished with some wiggle room) and then saw Sevy guide, even in the guide I could see how frustrated she was but I tried the team and I understood why.
The sheer amount of retries she went before getting a good chance must have been unholy, I just commented on the video suggesting her to mention it next time.
Went back talked a bit with some people that cleared with different teams and when the reset came I cleared with less rage inducing moments, I knew that the Wenut loses res to the element popping the bubble, I knew that some characters are more consistent at popping them, I knew what was going wrong and how to fix it.
The amount of times I've gone to others worlds to help and realize they just don't know the mechanic of a boss is astounding, the amount of times I see Raiden in Childe's boss fight or people bringing electro to emblem domain is way higher than what it would if people took the time to understand what they're doing.
Also agree on the part that guides use cracked artifacts and asume everybody has those characters lying around at 90 talents 9, I do have a fair share of characters with that level of investment but I've been here starting from Xiao first banner and I'm still months away from getting everything I have to that level.

Great Video. I also buy welkin and BP but nothing else. I started since 1.1 so I have a lot more time than you so I've been able to keep with with the game in terms of having a bunch of different teams. With that said really it's not realistic to constantly clear the abyys with 36 stars until at least 1.5 years into the game especially if you aren't getting meta characters. It's realistic to be able to do some after a year but it took me a while where some abyys I could 36 star and some I couldn't. But great video, I 100 percent agree with everything you said. Unfortunately it's not realistic for guide to be realistic for newer f2p players bc Genshin doesn't have a lot of content to do videos on as is so they gotta do what they gotta do for the bread

Yes! The artifacts is really the reason why their f2p setups work. Wanderer is my first main. I have both c4 thoma and c4 Layla. Layla buffs his dmg once and has thicker shield but thoma can deal pyro and deal dmg more frequent.

#1 Do not max out talents unless they are instrumental to your team's success (even then, level 6-8 is fine)
#2 Do not try to get perfect artifacts. Either mix/match 2pc sets, or settle for mediocre pieces if the 4 pc is what matters
#3 Don't take characters past 80 unless there is a clear benefit to doing so (EM characters for example)
#4 Keep supports at level 70 if you want. Your on fielders and EM characters will need the levels but others won't.

Characters that need hp should also be maxed, ascension gives a lot of hp.

    1. you only need 1 main dps fully decked in a party, 1 sub dps decently build, most other party member shouldn't even level their normal attack, and only bring support artifact that only the main stat matters more, saving you one-third of your calculation already.
    2. events and dailies gave you tons of stuff, especially those enhance stones, and books from events, probably shaving a quarter to a fifth of your calculation.
    3. your problem is common in new players (you didn't build proper supports) i know because i am also in your position few years ago.
    4. also you need to utilize EM more, look for combination and teams that can use EM, my suggestion is build your sucrose, dendro mc or nahida, fischl, and xingqiu, this is the most newbie friendly team that i know for now. the only artifact that matters in that team is sucrose EM, you can build the other team member slowly after that.
    5. past abyss (dendro chain for few months) has the good buff ever since they give you tons of helps via the moon phase buff and it support your dendro main dps a alot, this abyss has none that is useful (get hit buff lol rly hoyo?)
    6. don't throw out good instructor set (4 star) this artifact is good for EM teams, also don't look down on ER stat, especially on character that utilize burst a lot.
    7. dude you level xinyan.. she holds the bottom of abyss rank for years for reasons, split scaling, mainly dealing phys damage (this type of damage is the bottom type too for now unless you have eula, even razor has been branching into reaction stuff nowadays), only dehya is more sadder than xinyan because she is a 5 star.. idk if that's for content or you rly don't do your research.

I've been playing for about 430+ days (started 2nd half of 2.4) and my first Abyss 36-star was around 2.8, where my most reliable teams were Ayato Taser and Xiao Hypercarry. I went within the 34-star territory after the debut of the Black Serpent Husks in 3.2 but then back again to 36 on 3.3 after I got Mono Geo Noelle to a workable status. Also I got a Tighnari and Raiden within this timeframe (Standard, and won 50/50 respectively). One thing that made my clears more bearable is instead of pulling for new powerful units, I went with weapons so I have very few characters (36, including the Traveler) where there's 4 standard 5-stars and 4 limited 5-stars.
So long story short, it doesn't matter who or what you're going for when you want to pull for something/invest in something. If you want a 5-star weapon to use your favorite go for it instead of a meta 5-star you don't like or go for a comp that feels comfortable for you or are willing to make work. And at the same time, losing out on primos from Floor 12 (or 11) is not that big a loss (22.5 pulls a Year for 26* clears, which is a little over a 5th of a 50/50)

Yep, this is how normal grind f2p look like. As genshin content is timegated that also give alot of extra resource from hero mat to weapon mat. It needs time, Play with your own pace, f2p guides just to help us to allocate and spend resource wisely, which character that super good, or which character that just playabl, if your goal is to clear abyss for example. Obviously we can ignore it, play casually and do whatever we want.

      @ArnoldFrost Рік тому

@@hulahupjingga the only issue I have with f2p guides is that it creates a de facto criteria of a unit having little investment = better, which led to a lot of units being neglected despite their overall viability and very false narratives surrounding power level (Diluc among others being a huge victim and Nilou entering overrated territory due to needing Nahida to clear all content compared to other AoE carries who can still be decent at ST content if needed). Not saying that there's no merits to listening to that, but pulls are meant to be used...and choosing weapons to make an off-meta unit better is just as good a route to take

I'm conflicted on this video, on one hand I definitely agree that content creators often slap insane 50cv artifacts on their "f2p" teams that feature a bunch of c6 4 star characters decked out with r5 favonius weapons. This definitely can create unrealistic expectations. On the other hand I think the math you show is really flawed for a few reasons
    1. Very few characters actually meaningfully benefit from being leveled to 90/90. The difference is usually someing miniscule like 25 attack and some HP+def. Better use of resources to leave a character at 80/90 unless they are a swirler or hyperbloom trigger.
    2. You get a massive amount of resources from just playing the game. Quests are constantly giving you exp books+weapon exp+fodder artifacts you can use for leveling. This doesn't even include all the stuff you get from the events that take place a couple times a patch.
    3. It doesn't make sense to consider all characters artifact grinds as separate. Domains like emblem and deepwood have 2 useful sets, so you are getting good pieces for at least 2 characters while you run them. All bad pieces can go into the strongbox like you showed too, which can get you pieces for most other characters.
I promise there are a ton of f2p players that have 36 stared the abyss with nowhere near 400-600 days on their account. I think it's a good idea to try to help build realistic expectations, but this goes too far in the opposite direction and can discourage people from even trying.

step one, invest into Xiangling (catch r5). Step two, get Bennett. Step 3, Crown both of their bursts. Step 4, build a second team.
I don't think I can name a more broken duo in genshin, they carried my ass so much through floor 11 and floor 12.
