  • This video begins with some of yesterday's footage which shows a pronounced "stumble" from idle. After posting that video, I received several helpful comments. The remainder of this video shows me as I discover that, indeed, cylinder #4, was not firing. I re-did the connection between the spark plug cap and the wire. After that adjustment, when I pulled off the #4 plug cap, the engine stalled as it should. Now that I was back to 4 firing cylinders, I re-balanced the carbs and followed that with an idle-drop procedure on all carbs. That procedure revealed a second problem. Cylinder #2 did not respond when the idle adjusting screw was turned all the way in or past three turns out. I checked the end of the needle. It was good. I sharpened the red spray tube on a can of carb cleaner and sprayed several times into the jet hole and replaced the needle. When I then performed an idle drop test on cylinder #2, there was a noticeable drop in rpms. Once I determined the point at which the idle began to drop, I turned the needle out one full turn. The end of the video shows the bike responding to throttle after these adjustments. I don't feel like I'm where I want to be yet but I do feel that today's efforts paid off.
