Hi Rob, sorry to hear about your crv. In my case the roof damage was repaired using pliers and a flat bar that I used by placing through the hole in the roof and then pressing and tapping with a plastic hammer to flatten the roof as much as possible. The clip that broke off the antenna was glued back on with a good glue. The clam looking piece that bolts to the antenna and then tightens to the underside of the roof had to be bent back into shape before being reassembled. As the sheet metal of the roof was stretched it was very difficult to get it as flat I did. I was lucky that the antenna covered any signs of this. The gasket for the antenna is not very big and I was worried it might leak because of the uneven surface of the roof around the hole, so that is why I used a “life caulk” caulking to seal it, I used this on my boat it works. Each time I wash the vehicle I check the caulking looking for evidence of deterioration. So far, after two years it still looks the same. The only cost was my time, the touch up paint and the caulking and it looks like it never happened. I looked on the internet, antenna assemblies go for about $70.00. Use caution with the headliner you don’t want to crease it. Good luck with your repairs.

Thanks! Came very close to this happening on my 2023 Honda Ridgeline. I did stop in time, while backing out, after I heard a crunch. Everything works. Just going to have to secure the shark fin to the car now. And I also need a bottle of touch up paint.

Glad it was of some assistance. Not sure about the Ridgeline roof liner, Just be carefull if you are removing it to access the 8 mm bolt holding the claw that tightens the antenna to the roof. You may discover that this has bent and may need to be bent back to original position before tightening. Hopefully your garage door is okay. Good luck.

Hi, mine car antena was popped out and it has been fixed but still there is a little gap in between the roof and the shark fin antena. Repaier said water can not leak through it as there is a square rubber form underneath to protect. I am still in doubt.

Hi, sorry to hear about your antenna. They might look cool but they can be a problem if they get caught on something. I was worried about the gap as well mostly because the roof panel could not be flattened perfect for the rubber gasket under the fin. I used a caulking called Lifecaulk just to be sure no water could get under the fin and leak on to the headliner of the vehicle. It’s been almost five years now and it still looks good. Hope this helps. Cheers.

I have the exact same problem, but I am trying to assess how your situation was before you removed the antenna. Mine looks like its popped out. Its not wobbling, but I can't push it back in either. Just checking to see if you were in the same boat. Another question - where was that broken piece? Was that just under the antenna itself?

Hi, the antenna was almost pulled right out of the roof. When I removed it I found the broken clip, it helps the antenna “snap” into position. The clasp type holder that bolts into the antenna and holds it to the roof had pulled the sheet metal of the roof up and bent it. I straightened the roof the best I could. I reinstalled the nut and tightened it up. The antenna still had a bit play in it so I used some exterior caulking around it to make sure that it is sealed. If you can’t push yours back down your roof is likely bent a bit as mine was. Unfortunately you need to remove the headliner to get at the bolt that holds the antenna on the roof. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

@@gpenny99 Thanks - your video was a Godsend for me!! Did you have to do anything special to remove/ put back the nut. I ask because I noticed a slit on the side. Also, how did you manage to mend the bend on the roof?

@@gpenny99 I had the same situation. Your video is very helpful! How to straighten the bend roof? I put a kettlebell for like 8 hours on the shark fin, but still couldn't make it straight. Also, do you use any glue to attach the fin to the roof? what kind of exterior caulking do you use? Do you need some tool to apply it?

@@xnzhouzhou I used pliers and my hands to bend the roof to best that I could. The fin covers the bent areas. There is a clamp that tightens the roof to the fin with a 10mm bolt. This is accessed by getting under the roof liner. Mine still seemed a bit wobbly so I used a product called life caulk to make sure water dosen't get in, It worked good on my boat and is applied using a caulking gun. I check this joint each time I wash the vehicle. Good luck.

Sorry to miss you, the small clam shaped clamp must have come out through the hole in the roof. You will need to pull the roof liner down to access what needs repairing, the small part that broke off was a clip that is supposed to clip in when you push the antenna into the hole on the roof. Mine still did not seem solid so I caulked it around the edge of the fin.

I just had a similar issue with our 2020 CR-V. Part of the unit stayed on the roof, but clips are broken and damage to the roof too. Where did you purchase the replacement and how much did it cost? Thanks.
