Indeed! I was very fortunate that day.

Thanks for the regular post like this Ken. You inspire us all to constantly look for interesting sites to shoot.
Thank you Jim!

Definitely a great vid Ken! Earl put the topping on it. Beautiful video showing the prison and the mountains surrounding. Thanks!
You got it bud!
Another home run Ken! What a great piece with narration from Earl and the inserts of photos and newspapers was a nice touch. Not pinky is a Ken Heron video entertaining but many are educational as well! Thanks again!
+spyneyes1 How is very lucky that Earl happened along that day. I didn't set that up at all he was just there when I arrived and he agreed to talk with me. Very very nice gentleman to.
I haven't been watching your videos for very long, but it's great to see the interesting places you go and the places you learn about along the way. The dad jokes are just the icing on the cake. Great work Ken, keep em coming. Would love to get a drone one day and look at the interesting places we have here in Australia...
Thank you so much Andrew.

I've watched dozens of your videos but your bale pun is the one that made me finally subscribe. :)
Hey thanks so much!
I try to make the channel both fun and informative.
You know why your channel is the best? Because you find places like the Brushy Mountain Prison AND a guard that used to work there and get cool shots and cool stories!
What a beautiful place to put a prison actually. Imagine trying to find and escaped murderer in those tree covered mountains?
Very nice of you to say Cory!
I feel privileged to be able to bring such interesting things to my audience.

I enjoyed Earl and the history lesson. Ken thanks for taking time share your experiences.
Really love the Groovy 70's music during the Driving Montage!
Very interesting place, Ken! I worked 23 years in a Pennsylvania Federal Prison and it's nice to see how another state's prison looks.....especially from the air! Loved the video!
Very good interview! and fantastic footage 👍
Thank you!
That was pretty cool to get an interview with one of the prison guards. Good timing and always entertaining. Thanks Ken
Yeah, VERY lucky. I just pulled up because I saw the place in the corner of my eye going around a bend in the road. Not sure why Earle was there, but glad he was friendly!
Great piece of land, thanks for the fly by.
Love your channel Ken, keep up the awesome videos
Great Video as always Ken! Keep them coming...
Proud to be one of the 21k :) Love saying that. Great video sir. Kids really got a kick out of this one.

Great little video Ken you sure find some great places the fly and share keep them
coming Thanks
Thanks very much. I did luck out to run into ol' Earl that day!
Hay! I see what you did there!
I toured that Prison in 2003 just by asking the warden. They also had a "museum" (little building) that housed many shanks and the pipe ladder that James Earl Ray used to climb over the wall.
Ken Excellent! Work... From your piloting; to the interview and the editing...👏
Thanks for the nice comment!
Another good video, Ken. Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Flying!
You too!
I'm glad you're watching the older videos.
Wicked awesome how you find all the cool places!
Interesting - funny - good footage - that's why I watch. Thanks
You're welcome.
Great video as always!
One of your best 👍
Thank you so much!
Really interesting place, nice people, great job Ken!
Thanks Renan.
I was lucky to have met that guy!
Hey Ken. Just wanted to let you know I just passed my Part 107 Pilots test! Feeeels goood...Thanks for your efforts in teaching and helping others learn about the drone life.
Congrats Mike! That's a HUGE accomplishment.
Good thing about taking back roads is that you may find a nice curvy road and have to remember it when you take your bike out. I was on my way home from work one day and the interstate was a parking lot so I got off and accidentally found one fun road. Now I take it every now and again when I am not in a hurry and just want to go for a nice ride.
Good point!
Taking the long way is more fun when you're on a bike.
Another interesting video with some great aerials.
T'was a fun day.
Awesome interview ...Great footage of the prison. Scary place! Love Earl...
Super Ken!!
Send me a bottle moonshine please lol, great video as usual.
Nice one Ken really good shots of the prison .
Thanks! Hope you'll watch the LIVE show tomorrow night at 7pm central.
Thanks Ken!
What an amazing coincidence to run into earl. Really made a great video. Earl really let his Guard down with you on this one
Yeah, I was very lucky to have Earl there for the backstory!
Ken THAT was great and Earl was cool... GREAT video dude! Love it!
Can't believe you cheered me up. Ty
Glad to do it bud!
Thanks.
Great video Ken!
Gotta love the South. Nice video Ken even though I couldn't understand the old guy. Earle is cool. 👍
What a beautiful place Ken, and heavy earl's voice, ha. I'd like to watch more videos like this and even longer . Thanks from Ukraine
Well I'm going to miss the live show, but I'll see it over the weekend.
Good deal.
That's amazing stuff Ken.
Looks like you're taking a deep dive into the channel.
Thanks Jon!
@@KenHeron I am. lol I've always been into video but the drone has opened up a whole bigger box. My first project I am researching now is old, weird and cool places in Sumner Co. First is a rather "odd" place for a boat to be. I actually thought of you when it popped in my head to go look at it. Hell, you probably know about it already if you've filmed the 109 bridge.
Great video Ken! What ever happened with the video of The Old Tennessee State Prison? Looks like Corrections was unhappy with the video. Just curious what happens in a situation like that.
ua-cam.com/video/9fqnKw8huBE/v-deo.html
Did you have to pay a fine?
Heh. No.
Cool interview. Really. Cool.
My co-investigator and I will be doing an overnight investigation of Brushy Mountain on March 10th. Would it be ok if we use some samples of this drone footage for some establishing shots? We would credit you in the video description. Thanks for your time!
Very good interview, Ken. I work in a prison as well, and it's pretty neat to see an older facility like this.
Glad you enjoyed it! Can you tell me what prison you work?
It's called Craggy in NC.
Ken been watching g your channel for over a year I was wondering i wana pinch but I'd like to get some of those rubber stick covers will make sticks bigger and easier where do I get them if u leave me a link I can buy thru your channel hopefully u get a bit for it sir thanks u entertain me daily
Link in the description. 👍
That's cool. I live about 90 minutes from Dyersburg, I was just over at the Tennesse Safari Park last week. Maybe one of these days, we could hook up and fly drones and maybe collab :)
Sure!
Nice vid Ken, but I was yearning for you to fly lower to see the old architecture of the structure. I too find myself driving around looking for things to checkout from the air..... all .....the ....time.
Excellent Ken!
Thanks Greg!
Ken Heron You are my new Huell Howser.
Great ...very informative!
Thanks!
BTW, we do a weekly LIVE show every Thursday at 7pm Central, USA.
Hope you can "tune in" and check it out!
Good Video my Friend 😊👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
I was lucky to have run into that nice former employee.
My dad worked at the Stony Mountain Penitentiary for 35 years. I Would love it if you could come film it from the air. I am sure no one would mind.
That would be great! --Only a 20 hour drive!!!
No problem then, Just jump on the Ninja and I will put the whisky, I mean coffee on for you.
Earl is a little camera shy, but he made for a good interview. Nice Job, Thanks for sharing
You bet! Yeah, ol' Earl was shy, but very nice to agree to talk with me on camera.
Hey Ken, Hey Dana, Hey Bale.
Hay Cap'n.
Nicely done 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed!
What time is your air shift on the radio station?
nice . great video
Thanks Dean!
I knew an old guy who ended up in Brushy Mtn at age 14 or 15, back in the 50's or 60's. He used to talk about working in coal mines. Terrible!
Nice work Kenster
Thank you Linda-ster!
Nice video great job
Thanks Jeff!
Ken Heron no problem I really look forward to seeing your videos I always get happy when I see your notifications, keep up the awesome and hilarious work✌
My name is Gary L West Jr, TDOC# 423710, I was at Brushy Mountain from September 21, 2007- November 9, 2009, most of the prison population were bussed to Morgan County Correctional Complex (MCCX) , and about 15 minutes separates the two.
Thanks for the info Gary!
--Glad you're out.

I do a weekly LIVE show every Thursday at 7pm Central, USA!
What kind of bee`s can you snuggle up to that won`t sting you . . . Boobies.(I will get my coat)
HAHAHA!!
Seeing Bushy Mountain Prison reminded me of the Barkly Marathon which was inspired by James Earl Ray's escape. Here's a link to the trailer of the documentary about the race: ua-cam.com/video/UQmoxlUy33A/v-deo.html
You ought to take your drone up there when they have the next one.
Oh and you have mean video editing skillz!
I thought I recognized the place. Isn't that the area where the Barkley Marathons are run? Now there's a story that is just dying to be told from a drone.
Yes! That's the place. Imagine running after a swig or two of MOONSHINE!
Earl was awesome...
Wasn't he a nice guy?
The puns though!
Wow! What a cool guy!! How in the hell did you luck out and happen to bump into that ex-guard? That was a cool story!!
If I had three thumbs I'd give ya all three! LOL
Many of the folk that live in that area are ex-guards.
NO FARTING ON EARL! ok thumbs up.
HA!!! Deal.
Earl 👍
#earlrules
Earl is so cute! 😘
He was very sweet for agreeing to speak with me on camera. Nice feller.
That girl at the end was so cute too, and natural laugh was great!
You find the most interesting places to film! SHAME on you for giving Earl the beatdown... He never raised his eyes... :(
Glad you posted this nice video, anyway!!!
BTW, I just enjoyed your live show! :))
Dang it! Knoxville was close...but Brushy is only about 5 miles from my house! Sure would have loved to fly with you up there. I've got a Brushy Mountain video here on UA-cam as well. ua-cam.com/video/K6vpI19mQ4A/v-deo.html
We will be back there soon. It's really beautiful in your part of the state!
Why don't you use the dji goggles??
Cost, size, convenience, and they won't change my shooting ability.
I use FPV as a tool, not for fun.
Of course I could change my mind once I try the pair I just ordered!
I have used the Fat Shark goggles and received my dji goggles about 3 months ago. I also use them for shooting video and stills. I have found the dji goggles far superior both in clarity and picture size. That being a able to view 1080 full screen with total immersion with the image. The only down side is you need to use them with reading glasses about twice the strength as your normal correction. That being said I think you will be blown away by the picture quality.
Why look for a needle in a haystack , when you can get one in a shop ?...
It's needless.
Double the pun!!!
You deserve it.
Hi ken.
Hi Ryan.
Ken Heron great videos ken. You can check mine out. Don't mind me being a amateur.
Starring Tom Hanks as Earl?
That Tom Hanks sure is versatile.
What'd he say??? You need closed-captioning. lol
hey
hey
heeeey
Applebee's dont sting either.
poor guy is so nervous
Yeah, but he was very nice to speak with me.
Almost first.
Actually Ken, no male bee (Drone) can sting, just he females. But of course you already knew that...
You BEE smart!
My friend had the highest IQ of anyone in his stint at Brishy My. If that's something to brag about lol....
HAA!!
Horrible.
Earl rules
He does indeed.
