So I am checking out your other videos. The first one i watched was review on inflatable paint booth. So I am going to give you guys the best advice ever for drying desiccant style filters... buy yourself a cheap dehydrater from Walmart ect. I use the one that has about 10 jerky trays with a lid. The trays have a bunch of slots in them to allow air flow through. Just take a air saw and cut a hole the size of your filter through the trays. Place the filter in upside down. I dehydrate mine for about an hour or 2. Works awesome. Yes this works for desiccant stones. I just lay them on the racks and dry them and reuse. Half of my shop is still the old style not canister yet.
A way to tell if the used filter is once again dry would be to weigh a new dry filter and then weigh a used wet filter. Dry out the used wet filter until it weighs the same as a new one.
You don’t need to take the screws out all the way just 3 turns then turn the black canister and the screws with come out through the slotted area . Yes you dried out any moisture but any oil or debris is still in the filter. I just discovered your channel and it’s great!
I great appreciate you watching! Hope you find what you like here. I’m fixing to start up loading videos every week. I will have a new video up next week. 😁👍🏼
Thank you for making this video. I am getting ready to paint my old truck. I need to make sure water does not get into the paint. I see that you have the campbell system in the line just before this filter. May I ask, how often do you need to change, or dry the silica in the campbell desiccant filter and clean the filter in the QC3? I really would appreciate your help. Thanks.
Hello Phillip! First off thanks for watching and leaving a comment. The Campbell set up is GREAT! I start out back at my compressor and drain the water out of the compressor then I drain both water separators and take them apart and wipe them out with paper towels really good. Then i take apart the air dryer I change out the beads with new ones. You can buy a gallon of them on Amazon for around $30 I BELIEVE. 🤔 It’s been a long time since I bought mine. But I save the pink ones in a gallon Ziploc bag because I put them on a pan in the oven on 450° and heat them up until they turn back dark blue then remove and let them cool and put them back in a Ziploc bag. But I do that every time before spraying something. Just to be sure I do not get any moisture coming through the paint gun. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. God bless!
Cole Aviation Thank you very much for answering me. You have helped me tremendously with your guidance. I will follow your advice on cleaning the system and changing the beads before each painting just to be sure. God Bless you also along with your family!! Thank you again! Phillip Hall.

helpful video ... but IF i may ask, is there any way to simply remove the beads from the cartridge to dry them ? i.e., can the cartridge be disassembled ? or modified to be able to disassemble ? like printer ink cartridges, i'm sure the $$$ one-time-use cartridges have a nice profit margin and DeVilbiss has real incentive to discourage disassembly :-|
There is - that top comes off (looks like an impeller of sorts). Be careful, because it won't come off easy and you'll spill some beads everywhere. Ask me how I know. The good news was that I maintained about 95% of the beads in the canister. Now I need to figure out how to dry them - I won't be using my dryer because I don't have that nice pedestal. Maybe I'll stick them in a toaster oven on 200 degrees or so...not sure yet.
@@kingofbytes thanx ! after yet more googling ... as to beads, i would assume that even if the beads can be removed - albeit with difficulty - i'd assume that are not moisture/saturation indicating type ... OK, so I don't recommend disassembly. I broke the plastic when I tried to 're-fish' the air tube through the plastic housing. It's definitely not serviceable. I just bit the bullet and ordered the $55 part on amazon. I tried :) Looks to me like Cole's video is the best way to do the drying without replacement.
Also, if I had it to do over, I'd probably go with this: www.toolsid.com/arrow-pneumatics/2-quart-air-desiccant-air-drying-system-mpn-c7612xl.html 5 stage system for under $300 and plenty of capacity
You can’t really go by that little paper dot. It’s gonna turn QUICK but you just don’t want it to turn bright pink. If it does then that’s when you would want to dry the filter. 👍🏼
@@urielcarrera5689 actually I’ve only dried mine that one time. I put a automatic blow off valve on my compressor that blows out the water every hour so I don’t get much moisture in the lines.
Always wondered how many times I can do this? I've done it like 3-5X already. Mine's like 3 yrs old

How do you like your cambell hausfeld 2 stage filter is it worth it? Thanks Mate😊👍
Works great. Never had a problem out of it.
Great video ! Doing some painting in my shop and planning to get one of those devilbiss filters! 👍
Thanks for watching! Yeah they work great.
That’s an expensive but darn nice quality filtration device good for spraying paint in my garage
Yes sir it is a fantastic set up. It works GREAT!! 😁👍🏼
It's really not that expensive and if you set up you lines to where you have water traps before this your time in-between recharges are alot longer.
Just bought this filter works great👍🏻 anything else you recommend?
Awesome!! Thanks for watching!!
What a super idea. Unfortunately I dont have a stand for my drier nor do I think I can get one for it. I need to figure another way to dry it.
Microwave????
@@danielkey929 too much heat. I did end up buying a shoe rack for my drier. Works great.
Neither do I. I wrapped the filter with bailing wire & hung it on the inside of door. Hang the wire over the drier door & close. Works perfectly.
Tie it up in a dry towel
Cheap scape.

If you don't take the four screes all the way out you can slid it over on them other holes to remove and put back on without removing the screws.
Great video. Do you think the unit lowers the cfm of your air output? Thanks
No sir. I haven’t noticed.

It’s hard to tell but Normally after running it on high for about a hour. It will pull all the moisture out of it. 😁👌🏼
@@ColeAviation ok thanks
can you run two of these together for better results, similar to running two moisture traps?
You sure can.

GREAT VIDEO! How far is your setup from your compressor?
30ft
Hi man when you buy this filter is included dessicant inside?
Yes sir
I put mine in microwave, same result.. about twenty minutes on defrost 😮
Good tip cole

Tried this and when I heat the moisture indicator back to blue it turns white again within 5 minutes dried the filter for an hour same drier as yours
