I still can’t believe that William Dafoe actually did all his own stunts He’s literally in his 60’s he manages put up one hell of a fight against Tom Holland who in his 20’s at the time.
Pain, i love pain
He’s a great actor
Not only that he looks good for his age still look like he did in the Earlier Spider-Man movies
And he's got that that next level drip, Man's a legend.
Willem Dafoe is one of our favorite friends, and yeah oh boy he was in excellent condition to play him again but this time he is alive and cured. 😉
Seeing Peter like this was really an eye opener of how strong he truly is. Such an amazing fight scene and so emotional
He's ALWAYS been massively strong since homecoming after lifting a WHOLE building off from him. That should be obvious and clear as it's just that he's never fought as ruthlessly as he did here.
@@Gadget-Walkmen He was also shown to be stronger than Cap and Bucky in Civil War, it's just that Cap was a better fighter, so he couldn't brute force Peter but he can outmatch him in fighting

I think that fits.
Andrew spider hates goblin.
Toby regretted not saving Osborn..
So it lined up very well
Tobey tried to give him a second chance only to get stabbed in the back.
He learn from that is he will always be merciless and wont see the light. Tobey tried to spare goblin only to get stabbed by the very same one shortly after.
Tobey’s Spider-Man was there first to stop Tom’s Spider-Man. Andrew’s Spider-Man arrived later to find and give Tom’s Spider-Man the cure. That’s why Andrew wasn’t there to intervene.
20 years of films. People who've been following these guys for 20 years of film know just how important this moment is. Tobey saving goblin is just so genius
He couldn't save his villains in the original trilogy. This was Tobey's redemption, just like saving MJ was Andrew's

I love that Andrew throws the cure before MCU Peter actually reaches for it. Goblin had nearly reinvigorated Peter's bloodlust by blaming him for May's death, and Tobey was on the ground. Andrew wasn't close enough to stop MCU Peter, but throwing the cure was another reminder on top of Tobey's that killing Goblin was not the way.

One thing that makes Tom's Peter darker than the other two is that his version has legit rage issues when pushed to the edge and becomes extremely violent when he snaps, and wasn't thinking twice when attempting to kill Norman. Andrew might've been through rough times by not holding his punches anymore, but he never tried to kill anyone, intentionally. If none of the other Peters were there, or if nobody stopped him, things could've looked really horrific for Norman than what happened in 2002.
That’s why I will for sure as hell become very scared when the symbiote becomes attached to Peter.
He’s the only Peter who lost Aunt May, plus Tobey killed the guy who killed his Uncle Ben, Andrew tried not sure if he found the guy plus he said Gwen’s death made hem bitter Also I think he got PTSD from that
These guys TOTALLY NEED A TRILOGY!!!! At least and they’ll explore more into their stories, like maybe No Way Home is the first, then we go to Andrew Garfield’s world and get closure on his story, then We’ll get Tobey Maguire’s his bad guys were the most bada$$ and if it’s really good they’ll go into a new world
Yea we definitly need these three together again but i do hope tobey and andrew get another solo movie each at least then have all three of them back again one last time would be great this was the best spiderman movie ever made in history.

Yea good people can only take so much shit before they eventually snap you remember that movie carrie when carrie finally had enough and she lost it and killed all those people that bullied her. Well Spiderman as we know don't kill people but some villans are so evil that they will push people past thier limit to kill them. Peter lost his aunt which was the only family he had left besides his friends but he didn't care anymore. Goblin pushed him to far if it wasnt for tobey just going to say the actors name. didn't step in goblin would have been killed right there some bad people need to not push people expecially nice people to thier limits cause when someone's had enough they had enough to where they just don't care anymore. Wish more people in the world understood that but they dont and we wonder why the world is so violent these days.
The greatest mistake a villain can make is mistaking kindness for weakness, because there is not a more dangerous foe to face than a gentle soul pushed over the edge.
Green Goblin was more dangerous here than in 2002 film. Not only did he make Peter lose someone he love the most, he also made Peter almost lose his morality. If it was not for Tobey SpiderMan, Peter would have lived with the guilt of taking a life.
For the people saying he could have avoided Goblins stab. Imagine the strength needed by Tobey's Peter to hold back Tom's enraged Peter. You can't build strength to hold something up if you're not proplerly anchored to the floor. They were pushing against each other so I assume they were equally pushing really strong. So if Tobey would have dodged, Toms built up pressure behind his push would have rammed that thing through Goblin into the Ground.
People forgot that Spiderman is absurdly strong. Tobey was holding up against a person stronger than Goblin physically
But the stab happened after they gently put the glider down.

But thanks to tobey spiderman, tom holland made the right call.
Regardless wheather goblin dies or not, goblin always loved to get stabbed by many things.
I actually find Willem Dafoe's delivery of those lines hilarious!!
Its like joker and batman how joker always wants bruce to kill him and provokes him to do so by committing millions of crimes throughout the comics, animated shows, movie etc
That line might probably hunt him throughtout his next movies i wish kraven can be introduced in the next movie and push his morals to the limits
I like how in this rematch, Peter’s actually being more defensive by dodging his attacks and only starts swinging wildly after he’s got him incapacitated. Really shows how he’s not just a scientific genius but a strategic one too.
Since MCU Peter worked alongside other heroes in his universe, he knows how to work well with others. Out of the three other versions of Spider-Man, MCU Spidey is the most coordinated and teamwork synergistic-wise. Also, MCU Pete’s fighting style definitely was inspired from fighting Cap in Civil War.

This made me rethink Tony's quote of "Trust me kid, if cap wanted to lay you out, he would have." I feel like it's the other way around now.
Exactly
Peter was a fan of Cap, he was young and pure and wanted to impress people he looked up t. He was talking to everyone while fighting, just like they had a friendly conversation during training. And Peter didn't break a sweat in any of the fights in civil war. The only time he looked like he was using his strength is after cap dropped the air bridge on him
Also his only mission was to impress Tony Stark.
I mean you can't forget that the civil war scene was the first time Peter fought someone with more strength than the average neighborhood criminal, though. so he had literally zero experience when fighting cap.
From getting beaten by Captain America to taking the goblin down mercilessly....Peter has come a long way.....🔥🔥🔥
I guess in the Cap fight both were holding back but Cap was way stronger at that time since Spidey at the Civil War battle was relatively new and untrained.
Here in the Goblin battle he has gained more experience. Which is why he is a stronger combatant here. Also he wasn’t holding back.

I’ve never seen such a drastic change in a character done the right way. When we see this Spider-Man’s start he’s young. Whimsical and pure. After being found an recruited by Tony Stark is what would start this’s Spider-Man’s journey. At his very end after the traumatic loses of Tony and Aunt May, he’s not holding back his punches. He’s completely laying into Norman, it’s only thanks to the Goblin serum he’s able to withstand those punches. Spider-Man is scary when he’s not holding back. Full of rage and bloodshed as we see here.
He’s never encountered a villain like Sam Raimi’s Green Goblin. Someone who’s not afraid to fight dirty and has the stomach for it. His introduction into the plot is basically what brings along one of Peter’s most valuable developments in character.

Now this Spider-Man has deal with the most evil that 2002 ever faced: The Green Goblin
Agreed, Green goblin and joker are highly similar, they both play mental games, scary part is..while joker is dangerous, he’s no goblin. Goblin is superhuman, he’s not just manipulative and smart..he’s also physically comparable to Spider-Man.
@@GooglyMoogly68however Joker unlike Gobby is unpredictable, you really don’t know what he’ll do next. Gobby might be dangerous but he’s a bit methodical so with effort u could read into his moves.
I always felt Goblin threw this fight. Winning was a bonus but not the goal. The goal was to break Spider-Man. Rip down everything that Spider-Man is and was and leave him a monster like the Goblin is.
i think the same. It's like how Joker in Injustice didn't want to kill the heroes (mainly Superman) but to break their morale code. Somethings he's been trying to do to batman for years, here, Goblin knows this peter is still young so if he can't beat this spiderman, he can break him and thats the real victory cause even if he'd had die, Spiderman would've been corrupt still.
No his punches clear dealt a lot,of damage
See I still think goblin was trying. I think Peter for once, wasn’t pulling his punches and genuinely beat goblins ass.
Goblin definitely did not throw this fight. He still got a few hits in on Tom’s Peter but despite that, he wasn’t a match for Tom’s Peter in this fight because he was no longer holding back and could’ve flattened him if it wasn’t for Tobey’s Peter.
That must be why he was cackling right before Peter injected him with the cure, because he thought he was going to kill him and that he had succeeded in making him a monster.
The way the punches echo out on the shield like they do show us just how much Spider-Man holds back when he fights. His full strength is absolutely brutal, he could’ve caved Norman’s head in with a single punch. That was a REALLY nice touch.
Glad somebody appreciates peter’s true spider strength
@@jayyan4148 Honestly Peter really gets slept on in superhero powerscaling, the ability to not only recognize most any threat but also having the speed to instinctively react accordingly on a finger twitch is honestly pretty busted on a conceptual level, adding to that super strength (that may not be the relative to the likes of Hulk/Thor but is certainly nothing to turn your nose up at either) an intellect that can place him among some of Marvels smartest, his trademark webbing, and a full array of suits and gadgets he's designed to complement and augment his powers, Spiderman as a character no matter the spin taken on him remains one of the most well-rounded heroes in the Marvel Multiverse, he may not be the best equipped to handle galactic Avengers level threats like Thanos or Galactus, but he's just the man you need to make a safety net for the little guy, to save the people who'd normally get caught up in collateral.

And more interesting too.
You should see the comic book where he punched a hole through Kingpin's chest for Aunt May. Another one where she was in coma and Peter came into prison, thrashed Kingpin, and told him the moment Aunt May dies, so will he. When people like Spiderman, Superman, and Batman say, "F*ck it!" It rains blood.
I mean, he kinda didn't, Tobey stopped him from becoming the monster the Goblin wanted him to become.
I'm not a marvel expert, but i got a feeling this scene is gonna be significant in the future. maybe we're gonna see this darker side of tom hollands spiderman more in the future
Well Tom's spidey failed at that and embraced to be a ki ller but I suppose so would Andrew's and Tobeys spiderman be(probably maybe I could be wrong for either of them) in the end Tobey saved Tom from becoming a ki ller

He could have stomped on Goblins head to knock him out (or kill him) or webbed him to the ground. Instead he made sure he could look Goblin in the eye as he killed him. That's how personal this was.

This scene is a reality due to Tom as he is responsible for a lot of scenes being reshot or changed (this being one of them) as he wanted them to be better. Tom was fascinated by the 1vs1 Spider-Man vs Green Goblin fight from the very first SM1 and wanted to recreate something similar and so he did. Props to him for this and props to Jon Watts for taking a step back to let the movie become what it is, especially on such a big project where there are so many expectations and pressure as well. They really did make the impossible, possible.
2:01 On a side note, they played with our feelings when this happened. I had a mini heart attack.
It's crazy knowing that he was in the theatre with his friend as a kid watching Tobey's spiderman just like all of us and then not only did he end up playing a spiderman, but he has the original spiderman in his film and gets to replay the final fight with the original goblin. The kid in him had to be freaking the 🤬 out with how it all came full circle!
I saw it coming about the time Tobey and Andrew nodded to each other. Everyone in the theater was yakking so I flat out said "oh shit.... Tobeys about to die" glad to be wrong though x3
This was definitely a good decision, a lot of the spider man fight scenes are CGI, and the original fight in Sam raimis spider man 1 was very practically shot. Loved that all fights between goblin and spider man here were practical too
Why was he holding back with all that hate?
@@jae1757 ummm spoilers ahead I guees
Goblin killed aunt may and stopped Peter from saving MJ so Peter1 wanting to kill him is really understandable
These moments really gave Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield a chance to really shine since Tobey Maguire already solidified his position as Spiderman. Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield truly became serious Spidermen with acting chops as good as there's making you believe they are in fact Spidermen. These are really good films to have in the history books boys and girls. Believe it.
1:30 The angle and music were perfect. Two things showcased here... Peter about to make a decision that'll change his life and perspective forever, and Norman realizing that he's about to suffer the same fate that he does in his original universe.
The thing that makes Spider-Man such a awesome hero, isn’t that he’s edgy, cool, or even a badass. He’s kind, quirky, and a dork most of the time. It’s those moments where he stops making jokes, the moments he’s just walking forward that make you say “oh, shit, he’s mad”.
As corny as it may be, even villains and thugs alike in the comics agree: a Spider-Man that doesn’t start quipping on entry is scary.
When spiderman is cracking jokes and talking a mile a minute? You end up as a pinata.
When dud'es just stalking towards you silent? There's even odds of you ending up in a body bag.
Everyone knows this. Everyone understands this.
And one of my all time favorite bits is how a pair of bank robers got so freaked out they surrendered because spidey wasn't talking and there were slight twitches to how he moved. Except it was literally because peter's throat was blown out from being sick.
During raimi's spiderman 3, peter stalked flint like a predator and didn't say a word. Of all the fights he had, his fight against flint with the symbiote was the only time that he wanted to kill someone, not to mention that after that attempt, all he had to say was "good riddance".
If I was a thug and a Spider-Man that doesn't crack a single joke swings after my ass, I'm leaving New York with a new identity and give up crime
He's also an idiot by sparing these villains who keep hurting and sometimes even killing innocent people. He throws villains in prison, they break out, they hurt people, they go back to prison. Rinse and repeat. Spider Man is on the same level of stupidity as Batman in that department.
I just adore Goblin’s new design. The torn up purple hood over the green armor. And with Dafoe’s face exposed, we get all his glorious crazy expressions.
Fun Fact:
Gobby's new look is based on both Alex Ross' unused concept-art for the Goblin-costume in the 2002 film (which I liked better) and the green glide-suit from the final version of the film. But the ragged green hood was changed to purple in No Way Home to look more comic book-accurate.
@@KenMasters. That’s awesome! Alex Ross is such a wonderful artist.

His eyes were yellow from the drug side-effects, and he wears green war-paint on his face like he's Ledger/Pheonix's Joker. (I also wanted to envision the green-mutant idea, but Marc Webb already took that from us in TASM2)
@@KenMasters. making the goggles lensses yellow would prob make up to the eyes
I love how well this showcases how strong Peter can be when he's not holding back. Peter is always so goofy and dorky but to see him so enraged and showcasing his strength is incredible
There is nothing better than a villain taking our hero to their limits. To step right up to that boundary of right and wrong and want with every fiber of your being to take that last step, for revenge, for love, for sanity. Villains, they are what make heros so special

A casual reminder that in most of his battles, Spider-Man pulls his punches. But in this case, his rage was so bad that his punch dented a giant slab of metal.
Dude was about to splatter his head
@@marcussantos4816 honestly, if the Green Goblin didn't also have super strength and endurance, I imagine Spider-Man could punch his head clean off if he was mad enough.

That was a huge character shift in the Holland Peter: he didn’t just want to kill Norman, he wanted to slowly make him feel weaker and hurt limb by limb, flip him completely over, constantly punch him until he’s down, bring him back up and only to put him down again, and then go for the kill shot
That was so satisfying to see Peter brutalize Green Goblin

I like how in this scene Spider-man wasn't fighting Green Goblin, it was Peter Parker himself caught up in all that rage. Tobey saving Goblin was genius
If tobey Spiderman wear a mask to stop tom it will be more genius
the rage when he says, "No. I just want to kill you myself." in that dead quiet almost whisper of a voice! Scary beyond anything I have ever seen from spiderman! Bravo, Tom Holland, Bravo!
This final fight is a perfect example of the fighting style difference between Tom-Peter and the others. The others are all self taught or learned from friends. Tom-Peter learned from the Avengers. He learned from professional soldiers, assassins, superheroes, and more. Things like the moment GG uses his arm blades, Tom-Peter breaks them. Shooting GG's feet to immobilize him for a momentary advantage, targeting specific weak points an anatomy. Tom-Parker is a much more polished, detailed fighter than the others, hence why in a 1V1 he beat GG like a Pinata.
He did.
He also didn't hold back unlike in Happy's condo.
Learned as in by seeing their moves, no one in the Avengers teached him any fighting moves because as far as I know he was kinda a surprise member in Civil War when Tony brought him up. Then after that he passed out and went home.
@@ussmissouri38 no I think it was more of unexpected
I agree tobey is the strongest tho Tom is the more skilled, Andrew was the smartest
The way Tobey didn't say a single word, he didn't wanna leave the kid with any regret he wanted him to realize himself that he didn't have to kill him.
I always thought it was just that Norman had a greater version of the supersoldier serum making him about on par with Peter not taking into account that Peter never goes all out. And seeing here he clearly he ain't pulling his punches no more that it's just devastating Goblin. We're he not close in strength he'd have his jaw punched off like Scorpions.

When the comic relief stops being funny you know your screwed
Seeing Peter filled with hate and rage cause of Goblin who took the only family Tom had left speaks on what it can do to you. Tobey I was happy stopped Tom from killing Goblin since this is what Goblin wants, driving Tom to a darker path Tobey almost never came out of that darkness.
Which is why I love the scene so so much. :D Not only did he stop Tom but he was able to do what he failed to do in his own universe: Save Norman from the glider.

As someone who enjoyed Spider-Man 3 far more than most people did, I loved that the themes of that movie and the lesson Tobey's Peter learned about revenge not taking the pain away played a huge role in this final battle.
It's always a gold moment when we get to see the positive "nice guy" get legitimately angry, because that's real anger from someone who never shows it. On the flip side William Dafoe so masterfully plays the psycho Green Goblin that brings that anger out of Peter it actually make me laugh uncomfortably because that's just how good he is at speaking with that psycho voice/energy.

God there's just something I love so much about this fight, the way you feel the weight of every single punch from Peter, as MJ and Ned watch in horror as to what their friend is doing, the built up rage within him is visible from the very moment he takes his stance, with his eyes trained on Osborn and nothing else. And not only do the characters watch in horror but so do we, as this isn't the same Clumsy Peter we saw in Homecoming, but a much more grown and matured and smart-thinking person.
