I still use a 1979 bantam Coriolis paired up with a kistler spinner bait special. Caught my PB with it this year. Awesome reels that stand up to the elements 💯
If you will fill around halfway with braid, then 60-70m of fluorocarbon, your casts will be so much further, a full spool of fluorocarbon can add more than a few grams of weight to your spool. I wish the Bantam had a clicking drag. For that reason and the smaller spool, it would be hard to not get another 2021 Conquest instead.
I bought two of the bantams earlier this year and I shouldn't have. They arre unbelievable. It's almost ruined me for all the curado mgls I bought! They're damn good.
I have yet to pick up the new bantam but I love the one that came out in 2018. That and the Steez A are my go-to moving bait reels. Bantam also is great to balance out more tip heavy rods
Just got my first Shimano reel on Saturday, can't wait for ice to thaw to try it out. Picked up the SLX DC and from the way it feels so far I may switch completely to Shimano.
Right now is a great time to get on Tackle Warehouse and stock up on Seaguar line cause they have a hell of a sale on it like they do every year at this time

Once you get up into that $300-$400 range it gets stupid. The high end stuff is fun, but not necessary. Definitely a luxury. Most of my reels are $200 or less.

I've got a question. I've been dabbling with the big deep cranks too. So that 7'11" lux is rated for 3/8 to 1 Oz lures. But some of these big deep cranks like the 500DD for example is 1.75 Oz. The C25 is 1.9oz. Do you throw those "magnum" deep cranks on that same rod? Any insight much appreciated.

Me too buddy, me too. But I don’t learn anything about the lures performance because like me, you have also not used it either. Make a reel performance review AFTER you’ve used it for a season or 2 and can speak on all aspects of its performance and not just read stuff off the website because I can do that already without a video.

Just got a Bantam MGL myself, and absolutely love it. Paired it up with a 7’ Dobyn’s Champion XP crankbait rod for squarebills and lipless cranks.

My vintage 80s Bantam failed early spring of this year had it working my Carolina set up. Only got 30 years and change out of her.
I just want to let you know that I just got myself a nice looking big caster with the rod it matches it and I can't wait to try it out next summer

Fun fact: You never feed the line through the holes in the spool! The holes are for weight reduction of the spool. Good way to cut your line.

Justin i have a Bantam you will not even feel the deep cranks. I put 100mm handle on my Bantam. Its butter.

I bump up to the 8’ Lux for Mag Cranks. But you could get away with it on the 7.11 I bet.
