It got really bad and we decided to buy the Dynatrap. A mosquito trap and killer.

Wow, what a beautiful garden! Placement of the Dynatrap really is key. I was super skeptical because of all of the other negative reviews, however, I'm really happy with my purchase! So happy I bought one for my sister!
So you've got to think like a mosquito. They like to be near water and fly around cooler shaded areas so they don't get dehydrated. Dehydration kills them. The females are more likely to bite when it hasn't rained in a few days. If given the chance, the females would rather bite humans than be attracted to the CO2 omitter.
That's why the manufacturer recommends placing it 20ft-40ft away from people and your house. Under a tree or near a huge bush is a perfect place to hang this. Dynatrap makes a model with a stand or you can buy your own hanging planter stand. Also, try and place it where there are no other lights.
Lastly, mosquitos have a 6wk lifecycle so this takes at least 6wks to get rid of all the mosquitoes. I've only had mine for a week and I used to get bit (even through clothing) all day, every single day until I got this! I've only been bitten 3x on a particularly hot and dry day in the past week. My trap is about 1/3 full (95% mosquitos) right now. Some nights it catches a heap, other nights a little layer.
Ok one last tip. I cut a round paper towel to line the bottom of my trap in hopes that it'll be easier to clean this out.

Add a squirt of dishwashing soap to each container of water. It kills the larvae (or any other bugs) and the water can be used when needed. It wont hurt plants either.
Do not hang it near a door. It attracts bugs to the door. Do not hang near where you sit. It attracts bugs to where you're sitting.
I don't get bug killers because they attract more bugs then what you had ? Lol
it is not going to work to kill all of your mosquitos until you clean up all the standing water around your house and all the mess.

Best trap is a bucket of water with dish liquid mixed
the more research I do on these traps, the more I realize they dont work. I thought maybe this one cus of the CO2, but not really. also it seems like ur in the south, which has mosquitos that are attracted to scent, not CO2.
Agree, looks like it caught more moths than anything and I heard it will catch and kill lizards too ( if you live in an area with lizards, geckos, etc) which is sad. Moths do no harm :(
The thing is mosquitoes dehydrate into essentially nothing when the sun hits them. It does kill mosquitoes
Some bugs are food for other animals like birds and lizards which are needed specially around gardens to kill other pests. I hope some day someone makes a smart mosquito killer that chooses what to kill instead of randomly killing beneficial insects.
You know, that's an awesome idea. Scientific insect traps already have a laser sensor that can differentiate between mosquitos and larger insects based on how long they interrupt the beam while getting sucked in. Perhaps a consumer model could incorporate a CO2 gas cylinder that shoots a jet of air that knocks non-target species out of the path of the collection zone and back out of the unit. This technique is used quite effectively for rapid, routine tasks like recycling centers, food factories, etc.
I have the same one. I have found that it traps a lot of bugs during the night. The percentage of mosquito versus other bugs is probably more like 10% mosquitoes versus 90% other bugs. It does not do a good job of trapping mosquitoes in my opinion.
What extention cord did you use?✌
It's one of those outdoor extension cords. I think it's 25 ft. Not sure what brand name. Hope that helps
Hello the blue light for my dynatrap just turned of by it self after 2 minutes and I change the bulb,but still the same please do you have any idea about this problem. Thanks

if the light turned on by itself, this sounds like a faulty switch problem.
I wish that you could confirm, at 11:20 for just how many mosquitoes it actually caught because we can only see flying bugs in general but some people claim that it catches only other flying bugs such as moths etc but almost no mosquitoes.
It catches whatever seems to be in its vicinity. Mosquitoes are one of the many flying bugs and come within its carbon emitting vicinity and so some are attracted not necessarily all bugs. So you get a mix. When you're looking at the result on this video it looks like there aren't many mosquitoes. Perhaps if I kept it going longer then it could catch more mosquitoes but for sure it will catch other bugs like moths. Hope that helps!

Looks like most of what the DynaTrap caught were moths. I want to know how many mosquitos you actually caught. You did not give a report on how much better, if any, your back yard was after turning on the DynaTrap. This report being absent is a revealing lack of information.
After a little internet study, it looks like 368 nm light works best to attract mosquitos. Does the DynaTrap use 368 nm light?
The description says it uses a bulb that has a range up to 368 nm but that can mean almost up to. It works but I think giving it more time to work according to the manual is the real key. We unfortunately moved before we could test it in long term. BTW the manual says basically long term to kill off colonies so it might be more of a slow killer than some miracle zapper trap machine that takes troubles away. if that makes sense...
All I seen was a bunch of moths in there. Does it really catch mosquitos? Or does it catch insects?
It catches all sorts of flying bugs, moths being most of them because of how many there are in the backyard here. We did notice a significant drop of mosquitos about a month after. There were always one or two in survival mode hiding around the house. Hope that helps.
