One of the best video explanations I've seen on a car question.

Thank you for this great video explaining the differences without getting too technical. It clears up so many clichés that are still floating around that hybrids are inferior to full gasoline cars in every way.

My question is...do hybrid vehicles definitely have a higher possibility of shutting off whilst driving through high levels of water than normal vehicles? If so could you explain why? I know usually that the system if it detects water will power down to avoid damage electrical parts but that was a few years ago. I'm not sure if the systems have an ingress protection system that now facilitates greater protection against water damage

Just got a 2023 Prius Hybrid and I’m loving it. Mileage is fantastic. Took a little getting use to at first, but now I just jump in and drive.

Great. It is like anything else, do it enough and it becomes second nature. Now get back in a regular vehicle and it will be weird.

Very informative video. I just purchased a 2023 Rav4 xle premium I was very confused at first by the eco score and some other aspects but your video helped a lot. Do you have a video that explains the new buttonless infotainment system? I really miss the buttons that my 2019 Rav4 had.

Brakes are rough on hybrids. Your passengers may yak in city driving.
Price is higher on hybrids except for the Sienna which is only made in hybrid.
Hybrids come with robot sounds to alert pedestrians. The sounds are louder than engine sounds. So if you hate aliens and robot sounds do not get it.
    Everything else hybrids are superior.

And Defrost takes forever on hybrids because your engine may not be on to warm up car.

I’m loving my Rav hybrid! I find I’m more conscious of how I drive the hybrid, easing into starts, accelerating and stops. If you’re a lead foot you won’t appreciate improved gas milage.
Question for you Steve, when you take it in for routine maintenance does the vent for the battery in back seat of the Rav get cleaned? Also do they check the car for updates?

I'm sorry to bother you, but is there a reason why last year you said the 2024 Tacoma kept the 3.5L V6?
I wish I could send a private message to you, because I understand it's difficult for you to address. Thanks.

    Great video Steve
I would say tne main major difference is hybrid is cvt
    Non hybrid is not
Do you think eventually all non hybrid cvt will be standard in all vehicles?

    • @stevenwelchtoyota
      @stevenwelchtoyota  Рік тому

Its not a traditional CVT in a hybrid but it is listed as a CVT because it is a similar principal

@Steven Welch traditional as in acceleration similar to regular transmission. When i had corolla could not feel gear shift
I'm curious of the new rav hybrid has the same feel.

Good video. I personally think Toyota should offer a prime trim for all of their vehicle. The new Grand Highlander is cool but a vehicle like the Mazda CX-90 gives you a plug in option.

Great explanation! But on summary Gasoline only cars are not electric assisted and then on Hybrid cars it’s electric assisted and your are getting electric by the combustion. Back then I don’t like hybrids and just stick to just regular combustion engine but in todays worlds where they want you to drive pure electric and the gas prices are super high. I appreciate the hybrid now! We’re planning to add a car and finally get a hybrid. 👍🏻
