A city like Cardiff already deserved a bus station like this.

Cardiff deserves much better than this. The capital City of Wales has a bus station, down a lane, which buses can't get into if there is one reversing to get out and it doesn't have room for coaches. Someone said 270million pounds....whoever signed it off should be ashamed.

Cardiff already had a bus station next to the Central train station with many regular and opportunist customers. The bus station was easy to find, easy to use and the buses drove in and drove out. There was also space for taxis outside the Central station and within easy reach of the buses. There was also nearby space for coach services, getting refreshments and public toilets. If someone wanted to be collected from a bus or train by friends/relatives with cars, there was space for that also. The area needed updating and modernisation not selling off/giving away, demolition and replacing with something which is hemmed in, with little natural light and where the buses have to reverse to get out. The new area has no space for coaches and the taxi area looks cramped. Where is the area for expansion in the future or to accomodate coaches. Con job all round.

I used to live in Cardiff and I was going to say exactly the same thing. The old bus station worked well- Just as you said, I was able to get off the train and get a bus. It may have needed updating, but it would not have needed all that money wasted on it. I assume someone has made a tidy profit on this vanity project.

@@MervynPartin I agree with you and wonder if anyone asked the bus drivers about the design and ease of use for them when they have a timetable to follow, passengers who may need help with directions, baby-buggies, luggage etc. There doesn't seem to be much room to make it an easy, peasant experience.
