In the morning, I do yoga and meditation, then any mundane tasks, including documenting art, business, groceries, household chores. Then after lunch I work in the studio for several hours. I take it easy after dinner; I might watch a video or read a book. At night, I dream of painting frequently and record my dreams for inspiration and guidance. The end.

Hello Michele, thank you for sharing and for opening this dialogue; this is a subject with which many artists struggle as you well know-not enough time to do all the things we wish to do and sometimes we don’t even have/find the time to document all of our ideas because they come so fast! Here are my observations and suggestions drawn from my own experiences and the observations of others. First, breathe deep and deliberate and expel the stress-there, that’s better.
Now, she will be doing herself a great deed by accepting that she will not be having nearly as much studio time as she is used to but this is not to say she won’t have time to create; she just needs an alternative way to satisfy her creative hunger. Might I suggest reducing the scale as a starting point. If she won’t be in her studio, she should keep her studio with her. A backpack with a few sketchbooks and some supplies makes for a great mobile studio. She won’t have time to work big, so what? She needn’t stress out about it; she can work small. Not everything needs to star off grand.
She can view this as an opportunity to work with mediums she normally doesn’t have time to work with or hasn’t had the occasion to even try because of her usual, busy schedule. I personally love working with charcoal and Derwent Inktense Blocks and Pencils; they come in sets of twelve, so they can be very compact and are very versatile-they can be used dry or wet, so if time only allows for a quick, dry sketch during a meal break, they can be wet and blended on the next break.
She should use this time to embrace another facet of her creativity. Light refracts and reflects through a prism differently depending upon the angle from which it is seen. Her light will shine regardless of the angle, of this, I am sure. Whether or not she chooses to shine stress free is only up to her.
I don’t know if this helps, but it’s what came out in my earnest attempt to do so.
Btw, I Love Your Shirt! One of my favorite all-time bands-Have Love, Will Travel.

Love this Bonze! So beautifully put! and YES! SONICS! "Have Love, Will Travel" might very well be my favorite song by them BTW.

@@MicheleTheberge , The characteristic rawness of that opening riff and overmodulated vocal howl drew me in right from the start and has yet to unleash me also. It’s one of my absolute favorite recordings of pure RNR. 😊

I ❤️ you! Just found your channel. Excited for your new house project. Thank you for the motivation!
I haven’t been painting for years. I’m so ashamed but I’m finally painting again and my kids are teens so I have more time for me. I’m really good about fitness goals. What works for me is scheduling it in. “At least 30 mins” works for me. I have connected studio time to follow my morning physical movement practice. And I forgive myself when a day comes and goes and I don’t get to be in the studio. And I try to at least do something in my sketchbook!

I love that, Karla! I'm so glad you figured out a way to fit some time in when you can! Scheduling it in works for me, too!

Sometimes rather than pushing ourselves to Do something, we can just start seeing the activity as a break... Which we do need inbetween hard work ... Just an idea that popped into my mind while listening to you. 😀

I love this, Iris! I tend to have so many ideas and to just go from one thing to the next. The idea os a break is a good one. I really love making art and don't want to take a full break but I'm am doing less and channeling my creativity elsewhere as well right now. Thanks so much for watching!

My studio is just a converted bedroom so I try to get there first thing in the morning. I set myself a weekly task and keep chipping away at my project. I find this uplifts my mood until about lunchtime sometimes all day . It's always great to come home to some artistic advancement!
Once I am in the cycle I eat well, sleep well, and work well All greatly helped by disciplined 'time blocks' on my calendar with a number of excuses for not getting distracted by other stuff. Although I am an amateur I kind of organize my creativity like it,s a paid job.
Yoga and meditation would be very good to include during my artwork time, then I can enjoy some good old Zen time! ⭕ 🖌 🌈

Love this! Thanks for sharing! I used to have a painting table in my office for just such a purpose. I'd do a little bit each morning and I felt everything was right with the world when I started off the day with a little art time.

    My advice:
    1. Schedule the studio time as you said, and if possible schedule it first thing in the morning or right after your yoga or meditation time so you're in the best frame of mind to use the limited studio time to its fullest potential.
    2. Make smaller art than you're used to. You'll finish more projects and reduce the feeling that you aren't keeping up with your usual output.
    3. Set low expectations. This is not a time to challenge yourself.
    4. Don't stop trying new things if that energizes you, but try new things that are less divergent from your usual art that you would if you had lots of time.

I do art whenever time allows. My baby boy keeps me busy, as well as my teen son! I love art and so I try to do it whenever and wherever, at home, in the studio or en plein air! I sleep late in order to create but this has now turned me into a zombie. I need to agree a schedule with the Mrs and stick to it!

I hear you! We have such a drive to create and yet it needs to be balanced with life. Good luck with that. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts!

Can I just use distilled water to thin my acrylic paint, or does it has to be airbrush medium? Thank you🙂
