Can't wait to hear a review of this unit WITH a distortion. Every reviews are made with clean sound or sometimes with a very little OD in it. For people like me who are looking for an harmonizer, mystic aerial sounds or unending reverbs and delays can be cool but you can't figure how the shifter will sound with distortion...cause it's very tricky to get a good sound with these harmonizers when you add a distortion pedal. The sound tends to get too high pitched, too crystal. If I'm looking for a "second guitar" in an harmonized solo for a live gig, will it sound cool? Or this unit is mainly made for studio application?
I kinda wish Sweetwater would have done a demo with something other then guitar with their own sales rep. There is nearly a dozen or more of the same demo from the Eventide guy on UA-cam.
I really like Sweetwater and appreciate the videos but you need to make some of these product demos with instruments other than guitar. Many work well with synthesizers and would be great to hear.
Hi, user-tg4ui7hp4j! Thanks for your question. The H9 has several reverb algorithms with deep options. Halls, Plate, Spring among others. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Robert Williams, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 2371, robert_williams@sweetwater.com
It'll actually replace most of it...some of your old units will start to sound like **** after hearing this thing...I sold my old Lexicon rack mount unit because this thing laid waste to it...
Sweetwater I like this effect it sounds extremely great . Sweetwater y'all are the best music site there is Online with gear . & Have a great 2019 Troy William Frost .
Can anyone tell me what the preset change time is like? I had an Eventide Eclipse, that I had saved up for so long and sold other gear for, only to be disappointed with the preset "load time" which took almost half a second depending on how complex the algorithm was. I had a Zoom G9.2tt that i was using before and that thing was super quick. I realize it's apples to oranges in quality of effects, but for how expensive the Eclipse was, it was really disappointing that the patch changes took so long. I now have an Axe-FX II, which made me a die hard Fractal fan, but i'm considering his for pre-effects or to put in the loop of the Axe-FXII for additional effects and to use as a looper.
Cool, thanks. That's cool they were able to improve on the "load time" issue. That's what made the Eclipse seem like kind of a one trick pony for me. I found out after I bought it that a lot of other players used it for certain patches only and relied on other multi effects units (like a TC G Force) for their main effects with seamless preset changes and patched in the Eclipse for "special effects." That was such a bummer for me. Does it have spillover of effects (for reverb/delays) between preset changes?
entr0py1 Im not sure about that, I dont actually have one, I know you scroll though presets and then engage one with the other switch, I would think there is an option for spillover, Ive got two tremolo pedals for sale to buy this, SA Vertigo and MXR stereo trem
How about manually programming the Eventide Algorithms into the Axe?? I guess you might not be able to do BlackHole, but you could create ModEchoVerb and many others.
Hello and thanks for your question. The H9 is a multi effect unit in that there are multiple effects available in the various algorithms. With a couple exceptions, only one effect at a time. A few of the algorithms have secondary processing options (reverb with tremolo or distortion, delay with chorus and reverb), however they’re preset. You can’t change the order or combinations. The recently released H90 does allow for dual effects processing in series or parallel and has a much more powerful processor, as well. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Is there an easy way to scroll through sounds? Would rather not have to bend over and scroll with the knob between and during songs.. Or what about making quick changes to basic parameters on the fly? I'd ideally like to see that I can put two of these things on my board, one for modulation or harmonizers and one for delays or reverbs. Seems like a cool setup if I can scroll through sounds quickly and make adjustments quickly and easily during a performance.
+Jake Stewart Music You can use the onboard footswitches to cue up/down and select presets. You can connect and use any MIDI controller to change sounds via the MIDI IN jack. You can also wirelessly connect a laptop, iPad, or iPhone and select sounds that way. There are many options!
Yes...it can even switch between being in front of a pedal or behind it with software, without changing the patch routing which still has me scratching my head...these guys are geniuses's...es..s'..zs....
CelticDuende, technically no. All of the H9 series pedals are designed to load one algorithm (sound) at a time. However, some of those algorithms are made up of multiple effects such as, modulated reverbs, multi-tap delays, harmonized delays, and an algorithm titled ModEchoVerb. Thanks! Don Carr
Hi Alias (if that is your real name). The Eventide H9 offers many effect algorithms, but it can only use one at a time. The exception is that a few of the algorithms have multiple effects such as SpaceTime, which can do Delay, Reverb, and Chorus. Thanks for watching! -_Daniel_
You should also know that if you want to use it live, it takes two clicks to change a preset unless you buy an aux switch. Eventide has said they have no plans to change this. Deal breaker for me. I refuse to spend more money and it's freaking inconvenient to have to cue the preset then activate it.
NO IT DOESN'T. You guys are both dreaming. Go to the Eventide site and look at the instructional videos. It has a great standalone live mode. Whoever designed the interface is a genius. And with an iPad, and an expression pedal, well...sorry you guys are missing out.
Of course this sounds killer because he is going stereo with two identical amps...super expensive H9 Max and TWO expensive amps to get the sounds you are hearing in this demo.
I know what you mean, why dont they just show what it sounds like with an average amp, in mono, with a mic out front, no tricky mastering and mixes..... Like what 90% of guitar players use at home...
very pretty of course but way to expensive..... i think i would be bored w/ this quick...... how would u fit those tones into a rock n roll band? to me it is more for just noodling around.... if u got a spare 900 bucks :)
Just got mine... You SHOULD WARN people that you have to sign up for an iLOK account, and all kinds of other flimsy hidden crap! Not only does it NOT support "Andoid" phones (yet) but to do any significant sound TWEAKING you will NEED to get a iPad (or iPod or iPhone). Someone said you CAN use a MacBook, laptop, but since (in my case) its NOT internet connected, I have yet to look into that. If I had known about the amount of crap one has to go through... I'd NOT have been so quick to get this thing. All this needless red tape sux. Its a #$%& guitar pedal!
Thanks knight! I was just about to pull the trigger on a core. Now, not so much. I hate all that crap they put you through. I understand that they are trying to protect their proprietary tech and all, but there has to be a better way. Now I'm either gonna get the H3000 I really want, or get cheap on a Pitchfactor.
Wow. What a Drag. As-you-said . . . Its a Stompbox Pedal - you are not taking an Online Excel Class. That would Ruin the Experience for me. Companies like EXH, MXR and BOSS - have been Successful, without all the B.S. Huge Turn Off for me !!!
Only real issue I have had with the Beta version is the app seems to crash the first time I open it each time (but on reopening works fine). I wouldn't hesitate to grab the Beta version now if you can't wait for the final.
having used the h9 max today against my korg rp 355. well i like the korg better. better sounds in mono and with the expression pedal far more flexible. the korg is a lot less expensive here in rip off britain. as far as the hp max is concerned, i've been ripped off.

I love this pedal, i-ll try it in these days in a shop in Milan. Can't wait.

Hi I SSMDad. Here's exactly that from 2016:

HI does this H9 have reverb???? thanks for your answer MIKE

Why is the pedal shown from the back when seeing settings?
he's a better guitar player than a cameraman
more demo from eventide h9 with bass please
I'm working on it...the thing is INCREDIBLE for bass...see above.
2:38 is Der Golem, "Sun of the Dead (Солнце мертвых)". 😍
This is why you should always party AFTER the gig.
Nice glasses.
pro tip: you can watch movies on Kaldrostream. Been using it for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Cade Tate yup, I have been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself =)
good demostration I like your presets...h9 is the best solution to complete my pedalboard!!

sadly I believe there should be less talk and more audio on the priduct. But others are worse thatn this guy. Holy cow!
how about some keyboards, some drum machine, some vocals

That's not true on my unit. There is a solid one second delay before the preset changes.
Can you mix more the one effect?

is there a chart showing the included algorithms on the different models? core. max, eventi etc
Korg rp 355 ?.? Digitech rp 355 . Are korg and digitech the same company ??
Does the work with a 9volt 100amp power? Or else? Can someone explain please?
According to the specifications in the manual this pedal requires 9 VDC, 500 mA, center pin (+).
Is there an easy way to scroll through sounds? Would rather not have to bend over and scroll with the knob between and during songs.. Or what about making quick changes to basic parameters on the fly?

A Mac laptop. Doesn't bluetooth PC laptops. Also, it takes two buttons to change presets unless you use an aux switch.
No, it DOESN'T. Stop spreading nonsense. Have you even tried one? Go find the manual and figure it out.
It works flawlessly with my antique iPad 2...
My left ear really liked it!
Hi, How About pedal Chain? can it be used in Post like send and return as well as front of Amp?
Yes...it can even switch between being in front of a pedal or behind it with software, without changing the patch routing which still has me scratching my head...these guys are geniuses's...es..s'..zs....
And how exactly am I supposed to use that in the real world? Play Killer Queen.
u r not..... its for rick kids to use in their bedrooms
Hi, can you play multiple sounds at a time?
CelticDuende, technically no. All of the H9 series pedals are designed to load one algorithm (sound) at a time. However, some of those algorithms are made up of multiple effects such as, modulated reverbs, multi-tap delays, harmonized delays, and an algorithm titled ModEchoVerb.

One of my favourite patches has flanging, delay, and reverb, all fully tweakable. And there are other combinations. The thing ROCKS.
Can you create algorithms/effect patches?
Vocals is what I'm after!
how many effects can you chain?
Hi Alias (if that is your real name). The Eventide H9 offers many effect algorithms, but it can only use one at a time. The exception is that a few of the algorithms have multiple effects such as SpaceTime, which can do Delay, Reverb, and Chorus. Thanks for watching! -_Daniel_

That Sucks. For that Amount of Money. Eventide is Slipping. Companies like Strymon are coming-up with Better Stuff.

mine doesn't sound that good through my boogie king snake. like you say, he's sterioed.
garbeaj This is a professional pedal, if you want to use it with a cheap shitty amp anyone pedal will sounds good trust me.
It may be mono, but the ability to add effects to the mono signals going to two or three separate amps makes the "stereo" effects sound great.
It is true stereo, some fx maybe in mono only, but stereo will pass through. Majority is in stereo. Put headphones on.
Bro join my band also I really want that pedal
How come when I plug this in I hear more Guitar than the actual effects? What am I doing wrong?
increase the mix so you get more of the wet signal. click on any of the x y z buttons until mix is selected, then used the scroll knob to increase.
Yup, increase the “mix” level... you’re gonna dig it! ✌🏼
Apparently, the cameraman used to be a kindergarten teacher and reads things upside down... imagine not even taking the time to flip the image...
While I like it.
It will digitize your sound
very pretty of course but way to expensive..... i think i would be bored w/ this quick...... how would u fit those tones into a rock n roll band? to me it is more for just noodling around.... if u got a spare 900 bucks :)
The lack of disclosure about needing an iLOK account is shameful! Thumbs down!!!
You do not need a iLOK account . I activated mine through msn email. Love it too.

Not compatible with Android? Humm... Not a Apple guy so I guess its not worth it.
You don't know what you're missing...
Works with windows.
They finally have an Android app in beta now.
Does it work?
I hate Apple
Only real issue I have had with the Beta version is the app seems to crash the first time I open it each time (but on reopening works fine). I wouldn't hesitate to grab the Beta version now if you can't wait for the final.
+icelandknight: Thanks for the warning. I'm in the market for a new stomp pedal, but I'll DEFINITELY give this item a miss!
Great company and pedal, but those representitives form Eventide look strange, like members of some ocult religion.
