I'm not a fan of how these deterministic recoil changes played out. I think if you invest hard into a stat, then you should see the benefits from it clearly. This new "recoil" seems to invalidate hard banking into that stat to provide a consistent experience.
Yeah, especially w/the range. I don't understand why so few people understand the magic of that roll. Maybe it's because it's needed strictly for GM's? It's fun anywhere, but if you need distance in a tricky GM encounter, this is your roll. Do they not understand the kinetic explosion can pick up all orbs & ammo in a 10-15ft diameter?
Okay that's wild about the first shots sliding horizontally like that, because I thought the whole thing with Precision frame weapons was that part of their horizontal recoil deviation got converted to vertical. Deterministic recoil just breaking the rules, it seems
honestly with deterministic recoil they should just remove recoil direction. the concept of recoil direction doesn’t make any sense if you want to have a real recoil pattern. but that might just be me since i came from games like apex where we have a set recoil patterns
@@celebrate__ The direction is still nice to have because it lets you pull in a direction consistently. Take the Fang of Ir Yut. It has an almost horizontal recoil direction and when you shoot it (full auto) you can see it. Tighten that direction up to go vertically? Perfect. But now it's not necessary to always go for the highest recoil number. Arrowhead on some weapons make the gun worse. Take Parabellum. If you shoot each clip full auto without moving the mouse you'll see it reset back each time. If you add arrowhead to tighten that up, it ends up resetting slightly left/right of the initial shot. So if anything recoil direction is doing exactly what it's name suggests, controls the direction of recoil. With deterministic this becomes consistent and you can learn an individual guns recoil. With the older recoil it was more of a "spread direction".
As someone who largely checked out of most of D2, the fact that I could possibly get a 9/5 god roll on a gun, if I spent enough time to get triple perks on both columns, baffles my mind.
When the Gambit booster was active, I suffered through 4 rank resets that week so I can get multi purpose drops of this weapon. After 53 engrams, all the stars aligned to give me Pugilist/Encore/STL and Tremors/Adagio/Demolitionist So I got an ability battery, an end game champion killer and a serviceable PVP weapon all in one, saving me valuable vault space. And now...I can resume pretending that Gambit doesn't exist.
I grinded the CRAP out of Gambit to get my perfect Breakneck, as I was one of those crazy people that grinded out getting it on the first day way back when... I got it, loved it, was happy about getting my baby back-and then I had a Ros Arago IV drop with Extended/Permeability/Onslaught, and my perfect Breakneck has collected dust since
@Dredguno I've been playing solar hunter thus season and using the artifact for a "ignitions for ERRRRRBODY" build... Permeability means my ros arago is always solar and applying scorch and getting ignitions on basically EVERY precision kill. It's absolutely nutty
You stepped off the diamond plate just a frame before the other guy on the opposite team for the first game. Thats how you lose gambit games man, its bad luck

No joke my first roll that dropped on day 1 of Gambit when Breakneck came back was my personal 5/5. Fluted, Ricochet, Subsistence, Onslaught, with a Stability masterwork. It feels absolutely fantastic to use and I doubt any other combination would feel as good (for me). As for recoil, you just have to play with each gun. I've done HOURS of testing with all Deterministic recoil weapons and yeah, you just gotta try it out. Single shot weapons or low RPM won't matter as much as you're more likely to reset the recoil in between shots. With high RPM I found you almost never want to touch the recoil direction unless the base amount is ridiculous during full auto. The RD for full autos really only affect the first few shots but eventually steadies with it resetting the reticle back to the first shot. If you pull the RD, you pull that automatic steadying it does, which more often than not pulls the overall shot direction off center.
Sounds like you've got the similar rng as me. I've only been seriously playing D2 for a year, & I've basically got every godroll to every popular weapon & I never had to farm. I don't have a lot of crafted raid weapons, cuz the godroll always dropped. The game loves me. I've outted myself several times to see if I could kibosh my luck by bragging about it, but hasn't didn't worked, & I'm very tempted to grind some gambit to see how long it would take me to get any of these godrolls lmao.
That doesn’t feel fantastic to use that fluted barrel isn’t good and ricochet is a waste of a perk and substince and onslaught are both dog water. Wouldn’t trust you for any recommendations that’s for sure
Having recoil direction not follow the stat-line fails the "fun factor" for normal dads who don't have time to "learn" the best recoil value for each weapon.
Prism Hunter with Gyrfalcon’s: breakneck with osmosis + void grenade will turn this gun into never ending volatile anti barrier ad clear machine. This allows you to run a different element weapon in your energy slot to suit whatever your needs are. The biggest downside of kinetic slot weapons is that they often fall shot in ad-clear potential compared to energy weapons, even if you have perks like tremors/firefly/headstone/hatchling. But with osmosis, you’re getting some massive utility. I like subsistence/shootloot/enlightened action for the left column.
I haven't hopped into Gambit yet this season, but definitely doing it now. Brought out the OG sunset Breakneck and it surprised the hell outta me in PvP. Literally out dueling pulses and hand cannons.
My clan mates and I decided to begrudgingly go play Gambit early this season and we actually had a blast! We only lost 2 of 16 games, and that was enough for us. RNGesus blessed me that day with both Enlightened Action/Onslaught and Shoot to Loot/Kinetic Tremors, and the first roll is genuinely fantastic.

Another cool thing about breakneck if anyone didn’t know it’s it unique utility rolls pugilists and demo I think only one other weapon has this roll pugilists is on the left column with demo on the right matching up with some neat builds
It took me forever to get Subsistence/Onslaught for my Breakneck, but I have a few good rolls that I want to try out. I did get the original version years ago from the quest but never used it, then sunsetting happened and I've just let it rot in my vault. I'm going to make use of this new one.
Initially was going for Keep Away + Onslaught for PvP but suffered through 2 resets and got an Encore + Onslaught instead was bummed at first, but after a few more games, this roll slaps so hard because Encore pairs so well with Onslaught
Thankfully I did the grind for red borders in Last Wish - I crafted a Chattering Bone with Kill Clip/ Kinetic tremors/ Accurised and Arrowhead brake - and the biggest bonus is I don't have to go into Gambit. If I happen to clean out my vault and get REALLY bored, I may try for a shoot to loot/ KT roll on breakneck.
I got the STL-KT roll early in the season and I can't emphasize enough how awesome it is! Mine isn't exactly a 5/5 (the mag and barrel perks are terrible) but I use it in SO many builds.
I kinda hope we get meganeura back sometime. It was such a cool idea but was held back by it being on a scout rifle way back when recluse n shit was so powerful
The big plus of Onslaught in PvP is how it’ll catch players off guard in a way normal damage perks won’t. Players are used to the “firing tempo” of each weapon type and Onslaught breaks that tempo.
I got 2 breakneck I'm currently holding on to, Subsistence+Onslaught and Subsistence+Kinetic Tremors. I cannot be bothered doing anymore Gambit for now so those are what I'm sticking with
I ended up getting Subsistance/Onslaught on my maybe 7th or 8th roll of this gun, and I love it. I think im good on the STL/KT combo because I already have an adept hung jury with that, and got really lucky with a random Battle Scar with that combo

GREAT VIDEO! I have a Tiger Spite with Overflow & Kinetic Tremors that just disassembles everything, but Breakneck just feels better in the sandbox however after like 100 focuses I find out Overflow isnt a possibility on Breakneck. Never thought of shoot to loot/ Kinetic Tremors synergy tho. I have been rolling Subsistence/Onslaught or Subsistence/Kinetic Tremors. Either way Breakneck is a beast
The deterministic recoil varying so hard based on the RD stat feels like a significant step back from having control over the variance with the old recoil system. Hand Cannons don't give a shit about it because of the slow fire rate, but this issue will absolutely slaughter all automatic weapons.
It just means you need to experiment with what works. Arrowhead for 100 recoil is not the play anymore outside of burst fire weapons like Fusion rifles. Before you almost had to get as high as possible to tighten up the recoil for consistency. Now the recoil is always consistent, so you're applying RD to do exactly that, control the direction it's going.
Tigerspite, also a 450rpm, can get kinetic tremors but i think not shoot to loot. I have a overflow+kinetic Tigerspite that puts in work. still looking for a subsistence+onslaught on the Breakneck for fun. Sucks to me as these are 2 of my favorite auto-rifles ever in D2 so i need to go for "what weapon has what perk the other doesn't" kind of view on them.

My StL/KT roll is always on me. I also have a combo roll of sub/onslaught and pugilist/demo. Only way it will get replace is if we get a 600 with kinetic tremors.

I gotta get the Subsistence x Onslaught Roll! I got an Encore x Kinetic Tremors Roll a couple days ago. That thing is FUN! The recoil is god awful though, definitely looking for Arrowhead/Counterbalance Roll. I mean, could be pretty funny with something like Headseeker on an AR!

I’ve had luck with this one i have turned in maybe 12 gambit engrams this season and I’ve got one onslaught/subsistence roll and one Kinetic tremors/shoot to loot roll.
Cool Guy's methodology 4 determining recoil seems to be the only way to do it now. You'd think 100 would always be the best pattern, but it's not even close on the new weapons I've been running. I've had to shoot all of them against a wall at multiple values to find the most comfortable pattern. Not really sure how I feel about it?
I got 2 a shoot to loot, kinetic tremors that I have to try and a subsistence onslaught that's put the work in this season in both the coil and the exotic mission. Got me through the first (non cheesed) run of the exotic bow mission to clear out all those taken goblins quickly. Great gun I'll have to try and get an adagio which seems to be the PVP pick as of late.
Of farming for a weapon in the 3 core activities, i don't touch the engrams until i've done 4 resets. Gets the max amount of perks to get of 3 in both 3rd & 4th columns, but its a chance, they not always will drop 6 perks, maybe 2 extras or just the basic 2, annoying why can't always have 6 perks for time spent grinding.
I have Tigerspite with kinetic tremors and I mained 450s back in the early D2 days like everyone else and enjoyed it but now they feel so super slow. It’s like listening to slow music. Onslaught helps of course but still the time spent at base rpm makes me feel slow all over. I want one anyway just to have it but I won’t use it much.
I personally don’t understand deterministic recoil what i mean by this is I don’t understand how it interacts with each weapon and what’s the difference since I personally have never tested each weapon before and after the change but it would explain why certain weapons don’t feel good anymore in PvP. Has someone made a video going over this?
First one I ever got was STL and KT and this thing rocks. Real good even in gms mostly to just shoot a heavy brick or clear a few ads when KT procs. Quite nice considering all the ignitions going around

I would rather have a God roll ros arago, BUT you can farm this til the cows come home. This gun with sub onslaught is so fun. The extra kinetic damage is nice too. ALH Disruption Break explosive personality makes a crazy good match with it
I feel like this is going to sound like a fishing tale but my very first activity of this season was gambit and my very first drop was a max range shoot to loot kinetic tremors i have almost 10 k on it mostly lost sector grinding but its my legit favorite primary

Real quick, my guy, but Tigerspite is another autorifle that has kinetic tremors. It's probably better suited for KT since it can also get Overflow.

Rewind Rounds and Onslaught is insane.
This is why I just got an enlightened action+ onslaught roll and am content with that. Because Ros Arago with subsistence+ onslaught is just superior

Same roll except for Hammer Forged Rifling to bring up the range to 79. I've been using it in PvP and it's amazing.

It does.
IT does, but it doesn't have shoot-to-loot alongside it. Though there's an argument to be made for subsistence or overflow in place of STL
Tigerspite has kinetic tremors but not shoot to loot to combo with it.
KT allows S2L to pickup orbs and ammo via the AoE.
I have a: Shoot to Loot + Kinetic Tremors + Richochet + Fullbore/Polygonal + Range MW
but I think Keep Away + Kinetic is the best combo.

Never thought of shoot to loot/ Kinetic Tremors synergy tho. I have been rolling Subsistence/Onslaught or Subsistence/Kinetic Tremors. Either way Breakneck is a beast
I got a Breakneck with encore and onslaught and it has carried me through this season.
The deterministic recoil varying so hard based on the RD stat feels like a significant step back from having control over the variance with the old recoil system. Hand Cannons don't give a shit about it because of the slow fire rate, but this issue will absolutely slaughter all automatic weapons.
It just means you need to experiment with what works. Arrowhead for 100 recoil is not the play anymore outside of burst fire weapons like Fusion rifles. Before you almost had to get as high as possible to tighten up the recoil for consistency. Now the recoil is always consistent, so you're applying RD to do exactly that, control the direction it's going.

Since this is a long season I’d just start focusing after you’ve reset your tank a couple of times so you can get multiple perks
Tigerspite, also a 450rpm, can get kinetic tremors but i think not shoot to loot. I have a overflow+kinetic Tigerspite that puts in work. still looking for a subsistence+onslaught on the Breakneck for fun. Sucks to me as these are 2 of my favorite auto-rifles ever in D2 so i need to go for "what weapon has what perk the other doesn't" kind of view on them.

My StL/KT roll is always on me.
I also have a combo roll of sub/onslaught and pugilist/demo.
Only way it will get replace is if we get a 600 with kinetic tremors.
My go to roll for anything with overload champs is subsistence kinetic tremors. It’s unreal
All weapons have specific recoil patterns now, I think Maven put out a vid on the recoil update, and how it works now.
Yeah, that was a really brilliant video. It not only gave a blueprint moving forward (shoot the wall to find your best recoil pattern lmao jk, kinda), but she also pointed out the fallacies that a lot of brilliant youtubers had about it previously.

I got an Encore x Kinetic Tremors Roll a couple days ago. That thing is FUN! The recoil is god awful though, definitely looking for Arrowhead/Counterbalance Roll.
I mean, could be pretty funny with something like Headseeker on an AR!

I’ve had luck with this one i have turned in maybe 12 gambit engrams this season and I’ve got one onslaught/subsistence roll and one Kinetic tremors/shoot to loot roll.
i managed to get eye of the storm onslaught and boy does it absolutely shred in pvp.
Cool Guy's methodology 4 determining recoil seems to be the only way to do it now. You'd think 100 would always be the best pattern, but it's not even close on the new weapons I've been running. I've had to shoot all of them against a wall at multiple values to find the most comfortable pattern. Not really sure how I feel about it?
Finally got my godroll of substinence and onslaught also came with a handling masterwork. Wooo
I got pugilist/KT it works great for a monty carlo stand-in on my strand titan build. It makes it so I can run lament for my exotic.
I’ve been grinding for an onslaught roll forever! Bungie knows! And is sandbagging me! But I do have a great heating up/kinetic tremors roll.
I got 2 a shoot to loot, kinetic tremors that I have to try and a subsistence onslaught that's put the work in this season in both the coil and the exotic mission. Got me through the first (non cheesed) run of the exotic bow mission to clear out all those taken goblins quickly. Great gun I'll have to try and get an adagio which seems to be the PVP pick as of late.
Been grinding Gambit for this one and i have 2 breakneck with 3 slot options in each. its a good wep no doubt.

Of farming for a weapon in the 3 core activities, i don't touch the engrams until i've done 4 resets. Gets the max amount of perks to get of 3 in both 3rd & 4th columns, but its a chance, they not always will drop 6 perks, maybe 2 extras or just the basic 2, annoying why can't always have 6 perks for time spent grinding.
As an AR main, I guess I'll go get it. Lol
Heating up with onslaught both activates on kill for stability and control on higher rpm activation...
I have Tigerspite with kinetic tremors and I mained 450s back in the early D2 days like everyone else and enjoyed it but now they feel so super slow.
It’s like listening to slow music.
Onslaught helps of course but still the time spent at base rpm makes me feel slow all over. I want one anyway just to have it but I won’t use it much.
I personally don’t understand deterministic recoil what i mean by this is I don’t understand how it interacts with each weapon and what’s the difference since I personally have never tested each weapon before and after the change but it would explain why certain weapons don’t feel good anymore in PvP. Has someone made a video going over this?
My Tiger Spite has kinetic tremors and overflow it rocks. It RIPs thru champs!
I have that Encore/Adagio Roll and it just mows through people. I purposely challenge ridiculous situations just to see if I can get a chain.
First one I ever got was STL and KT and this thing rocks. Real good even in gms mostly to just shoot a heavy brick or clear a few ads when KT procs. Quite nice considering all the ignitions going around
Keep away and Kinetic tremors would be nice pve and pvp roll

As a stasis main it’s so hard to bring myself to use kinetics. I have a couple god rolled kinetic weapons but they just don’t do enough for my build 😢
I focused 99 engrams after doing a few resets and I got ALLLLL THE ROLLS.

This gun with sub onslaught is so fun. The extra kinetic damage is nice too. ALH Disruption Break explosive personality makes a crazy good match with it

I feel like this is going to sound like a fishing tale but my very first activity of this season was gambit and my very first drop was a max range shoot to loot kinetic tremors i have almost 10 k on it mostly lost sector grinding but its my legit favorite primary
I have 2, keep away/kinetic tremors and eye of the storm/adagio. Guess I got lucky. Kinetic in pve on this hits hard.
Not having Field Test on this weapon is tragic.
What is up with Target Lock on this weapon. It's way down the list for trait popularity on light gg,which is kinda weird for that perk.
