If you run Gutshot and Collective Action with Elemental Charge and 2 stasis surge mods, you get a 5/3 .7s TTK on 8 Res and up, and a 4/4 .7s TTK on 7 Res and down. Furthermore, you get a .9s or .8s bodyshot TTK, which is only 1 bullet shy of its stock optimal TTK. Slap Hoarfrost-Z on your Titan with Howl of the Storm and Glacier grenades and you basically have a perpetual 26% bodyshot damage bonus and a 15% crit bonus
I very much disagree with the PvP side of the argument. Target lock on this is genuinely more busted than any other damage perk here at high skill levels of PvP and in modes like trials. At the highest skill bracket, they’ll always hit those crits so having TL reduce TTK down even further is nuts. Origin trait is also busted for this weapon. Arguably better than Shayuras Wrath and very much contests with Immortal

Max range Killingwind rangefinder is still a wild perk combo on automatic weapons. Great video and before now I never new destroying stasis crystals with a demolitionist weapon triggered demolitionist. I have an enlightened action headstone role that I enjoyed since enlightened action with flared magwell got the reload really high. It is actually what caused me to dismantle my previous headstone smg especially since it worked well for me in crucible. Killing someone and using the crystal for cover allowed me to solo multiple people at times too which I rarely achieved in crucible with legendary smgs. Also managed to block some paths at times by killing people in doorways and halls so opponents had to destroy the crystal, jump it, or go around giving me a chance to switch weapons or reload so I could unload my gun on them. Not great at pvp, but it worked surprisingly well for me.

I think your thinking of target lock wrong, the main use of target lock in my opinion is to increase your forgiveness not speed up the ttk, it’s going to allow an optimal time to kill while hitting more body shots without losing the target acquisition from something like gut shot straight. Also personally I’m not a fan of 6s and I really don’t think that judging a gun based off a mode where half the lobby won’t even be looking at you while your killing them is a good way to rate weapons

The origin trait is better then immortal. Target lock is still the best for consistency. Free extra dmg. Ttk isn’t everything in this game. Most people are already damaged when you meet them. You don’t need that extra shot if they are week. Throw a nade or something first and it melts. Use radiant and surges and you have more range and dmg then immortal
You bring up an amazing combo with discord/cascade. I used to use Sleight of Hand/Harmony on Submission and absolutely love it. I'm going to give this Unending Tempest roll a try. Love all your videos!
Target Lock has become the new singularity perk like Kill Clip, in that people see it and think welp that's the roll, nothing else matters, but Tempest honestly has a lot going for it once you step outside of that box. I got a roll with Fragile Focus that I've really been enjoying so far, and I definitely want that Headstone combo for Stasis shenanigans.
I don't even consider Target Lock useful. It really only activates if you basically hit the optimal ttk. And if you were already going to hit the optimal ttk, you probably didn't need the ever so slightly faster ttk.
@@nelsongodoy5101 That's what I mean though. Either you 1) miss a single bullet and Target Lock doesn't proc or 2) hit nothing but headshots and you probably didn't need the tiny ttk bump. The times that such a small boost to ttk actually makes a difference just don't seem remotely frequent enough to merit your 4th perk slot.
This gun is the best peacekeepers smg imo, you can get 100 range with fragile focus and then either dynamic sway or perpetual to improve the poor stability and then peacekeepers fixes your handling. My current roll is moving target target lock for peacekeepers and the strafespeed from moving target and peacekeepers is insane. Once the smg recoil nerfs hit I’ll probably swap to my dynamic away fragile focus roll but for now I’ll revel with my sun 20 stability roll
i got a 5/5 (imo) roll with smallbore, accurized, range mw, moving target fragile focus and i really like it. hits exactly at 100 range w fragile focus and nadir focus comes in too if that wears off
i really like collective action on this gun. stasis titan, armamentarium, double glacier nades. smash through your nade, collect shards, instant damage boost.
I love smgs that can get DSR and TTT at the same time, so this thing will definitely get farmed. Plus I love KW/KC weapons, so this having Multikill clip will still get the job done
I think bungie has been doing a good job with perks recently. Most people tend to only focus on max damage, and max range options, but your Discord/Cascade roll is an example of an awesome combination.
About "player attachment to weapons", that might hit the nail on the head why I still love this game. First raid was Leviathan, never raided in D1. I remember being on ad clear for one encounter just capping with my rampage Duke Mk. 44. That gun = Leviathan = my first raid.
Wow I totally forgot about headstone and synergy it could have with demo. Looks like i found a new gun roll I'm gonna be going for, along with the showrunner with kinetic tremors.
You fumbled the bag by not mentioning Gutshot & Target Lock together. Gutshot increases Target Lock's damage. 0.7 TTK on ALL resilience levels. 0.9 body TTK on ALL resilience levels. It is quite literally the ONLY gun in the game with that roll. Knowing you, I am upset you didn't notice this at all nor tested it. I am telling you CoolGuy, I tried SO many rolls, but Gutshot & Target Lock together is FUCKING INSANE. GS & TL together ramps up body shot damage to 22. With Radiant, it is even better. With Mask Of Bakris, it is INSANE.
What I find most amazing when watching all of these clips is how often the enemies you engage doin't even seem to notice you're there. For whatever reason, when I play D2, all of the enemy team's players seem to ALWAYS be engaging me and only ME!!!! To the point that wherever I am on the entire map (ANY map), I'll have enemies shooting at me from way across the map from multiple directions while my teammates are engaging them in battle and /or standing directly in front of them. It's like they will completely ignore my teammates and/or can't see them to kill me wherever I'm standing. And EVERYONE on the entire enemy team seems to get my radar ping no matter how far away they are from me, yet I have zero pings on my radar of them. This happens so frequently that I often I feel like my account has been hacked.
Some of it is selection bias; killing one guy and then getting cleaned up by the next guy doesn't make for a good clip. A lot of it is map knowledge and good use of cover--knowing what parts of the map leave you vulnerable from which angles. Some of it is also CBMM; if you're already better than most of the player base, you'll get worse opponents than you on average, meaning you'll hit clipworthy plays more frequently than in SBMM because your opponents simply aren't that threatening. (Notice how a lot of these clips are in Relic?) That said, I'm not anything special at this game, so I totally know how you feel LOL
For PvE, it's Demolitionist with either Frenzy or Headstone (I'd prefer Frenzy, but both are great), other rolls aren't worth it. The Vanguard Stasis 900 RPM SMG gets Frenzy and Subsistence, the god-roll for Funnelweb, so unless you really prefer 600s to 900s, there's only one or two rolls you gotta go after for PvE.
Im hunting for a max range, Dynamic Sway and Collective Action roll to pair with my Hoarfrost Z Stasis Titan for an on demand .70 ttk. But otherwise literally any roll in the 4th column with max range will feel good. One of the best playlists weapons they've ever introduced.
I decided to craft a new weapon for myself this league, Because after 200 attempts to get a decent auto rifle i just didn't get the rolls i was looking for. So i crafted a Perpetualis with Zen and Hatchling. I just love it in checkmaster, Yea single kills doesn't work out to be big but when you get a group oh man this starts to pop off. If i wanted to i could switch to target lock but this quark surprises many that they don't think of it right away and by the time they figure it out it's too late.
Imo, the reason why people talk about Target Lock on this weapon so much is because it makes this weapon special. If you want a precision frame smg with damage perk after reload, nothing can compete with Shayura. The reason why even players who have good Shayuras started looking at this thing is proobably that in 3s kill clip is harder to utilize.
I see some potential in Collective Action on an SMG as well since there are ways to activate it from neutral, though it's going to be more of a buildcraft perk.
I really wanted to like unending tempest, but then i played with it with a 5/5, hammer forged, accurised killing wind mkc and i hated it The reason i hated it is the same reason im not the biggest fan of Shayuras although Shayuras doesnt suffer from the issue as badly as Tempest, the red dot sway It messes with my tracking and i out over 500 kills on this thing before i put it down to see if i could get past it but i couldnt, the sway was too much for me, so i went back to Forensic and was fine after
I personally have a dynamic sway cascade point roll that I love. Discord and cascade would also be great. I'm surprised you didn't mention discord and harmony however, this is the first weapon to roll with that combo and I think it can also shred.
Enlightened Action/Collective Action is a very strong PvE roll. EA keeps the gun feeling snappy and gives it quick reloads. CA synergizes with stasis builds that emphasize creating shards, such as my warlock build that uses Iceflare Bolts and Glacial Harvest.
I was never able to get an immortal. I use Shayura’s wrath with eye of sol which is great but I’ve decided to use Unending tempest more as I can pair it with my favourite hand cannon which is Igneous Hammer. My unending tempest has dynamic sway reduction and target lock. I have two Shayura’; one is snapshot and tunnel vision, one is quick draw and kill clip. I use Ophidian aspects on warlock and either Frostees or lucky pants on hunter (void subclass and I use hand cannons a lot)
I have a bunch of good rolls as I exclusively focus this weapon when I get crucible engrams. The most surprising roll is the Fragile Focus/Gutshot combo.
All these people recently talking about how crafting and power creep has killed loot in destiny. I admit it feels different than D1 but when it comes down to it a lot of it is outlook and perspective and I always appreciate your videos because you take all perspective and show why a gun can be good rather than saying "it isn't the best" so don't use it
Its always a bit weird when people call guns with excellent PVE capabilities bad. But then I remember there are people who treat the PVP like the primary game mode, and I feel less weird. Still, Im glad someone talked about the actual PVE rolls and how good it can be for certain stasis builds.
I got one with moving target and using it on Peacekeepers is absolutely vile. I play MNK and it feels like your opponents suddenly can't aim since you're strafing so fast they can't hit you.
I got a Enlighten Action + Target lock roll, now now I know, target Lock go brrr. However, when these two perks are paired with with the origin trait, EVERY BULLET LANDED increases: Enlightened Action +10 Handling on hit (max +50) +10 Reload on hit (max +50) Target Lock +25% damage after only a couple seconds of firing (13% of the mag) Nadir Focus origin trait +extra accuracy +extra range This is genuinely one of the best feeling SMGs ive ever used, because it rewards good tracking instead of just giving you all the benefits out the gate like kill clip after a kill.
I dropped that and i instantly put it in my vault thinking how good this will be when i wanna play stasis lmao. Free sharda and grenade energy on top of shattering for nore energy. Sounds dope.
Target lock being meta is a titan thing. 3's meta is just titan, every titan runs 10 resil. TL helps fight resil. Esp in void titan V void titan where target lock has more health to work off of. If 2 people with overshields duel and both hit perfect shots, the guy with target lock wins every time.
This SMG is everything that Blood Feud from Season of the Plunder should have been for both PvE and PvP. Feels great on a Renewal stasis hunter with Subsistence Headstone.
I've focused 120ish and have gotten 3 target lock rolls. About half of those were 1-2 reset and the other was 3++ resets. Stupt game. (I want tlock for multi targets and bodyshot forgiveness) btw: horror story does come with demo headstone, also headstone COULD be amazing with stacy buffs next season.
I wonder how this compares to the Enyo-D. Same frame. Comparable stats. Origin trait is obviously way better. Reticle is different as well, far cleaner. Does it make the Enyo obsolete for PvP? Or would you say keep the Enyo god roll if you have one?
I did the same and wrote it off. I'll have to focus one now because I've fallen for my mercurial overreach. I paired it with allied demand but I want a tad more range. I loved my shyuras but wasn't feeling kinetic snipers except eye of sol. I like the flexibility of options though
It is definitely another Immortal but with Target Lock it is very interesting. In console/controller, I actually have a problem w/ the long-range/low-stability Immortal. The Unending Tempest being a 600 rpm makes it much easier to control with similar stats.
I hate that ritual weapons have 24 different perks, but if they’re going to stick with it, this is what I want to see. Multiple good combinations and archetype staples.
I view it more as a pve weapon. Everything else smg wise for PvP edges it out. It's serviceable, it's not bad, but we have choices. Thoughts?
It’s definitely hangs in both modes don’t sleep 😴
If you run Gutshot and Collective Action with Elemental Charge and 2 stasis surge mods, you get a 5/3 .7s TTK on 8 Res and up, and a 4/4 .7s TTK on 7 Res and down. Furthermore, you get a .9s or .8s bodyshot TTK, which is only 1 bullet shy of its stock optimal TTK. Slap Hoarfrost-Z on your Titan with Howl of the Storm and Glacier grenades and you basically have a perpetual 26% bodyshot damage bonus and a 15% crit bonus

TV is gone, we DEMAND the new sidearm tier list!
Help us Cool Kenobi, you're our only hope
The look of this SMG reminds me of the old Hyperion weapons from Borderlands 1, where they had that dark red look to them
Borderlands 4 😢
About "player attachment to weapons", that might hit the nail on the head why I still love this game. First raid was Leviathan, never raided in D1. I remember being on ad clear for one encounter just capping with my rampage Duke Mk. 44. That gun = Leviathan = my first raid.
Wow I totally forgot about headstone and synergy it could have with demo. Looks like i found a new gun roll I'm gonna be going for, along with the showrunner with kinetic tremors.
Hell yeah, cascade point!
The gutshot straight target lock isn’t to be slept on
I have gotten like 60-70 rolls and have still not gotten this combination 😔
I want that Sway Reduction/Tap the Trigger combo... used to have the old Enyo-D with that combo and I loved it!
(Notice how a lot of these clips are in Relic?)
That said, I'm not anything special at this game, so I totally know how you feel LOL
I like to hear you talk. Such a way with words.
Even if the numbers don't support it idk what it is but target lock still feels so good for me
Been trying since the start of the season to get that demo headstone roll. Can't wait to see how horror story is with it.
Coolguy always brings the goods
I see some potential in Collective Action on an SMG as well since there are ways to activate it from neutral, though it's going to be more of a buildcraft perk.
I really wanted to like unending tempest, but then i played with it with a 5/5, hammer forged, accurised killing wind mkc and i hated it
The reason i hated it is the same reason im not the biggest fan of Shayuras although Shayuras doesnt suffer from the issue as badly as Tempest, the red dot sway
It messes with my tracking and i out over 500 kills on this thing before i put it down to see if i could get past it but i couldnt, the sway was too much for me, so i went back to Forensic and was fine after
looking for that demo headstone roll for pve great review
Discord and cascade is my go-to, like you mentioned. Gut shot and cascade is also solid with the extra body shot forgiveness
I personally have a dynamic sway cascade point roll that I love. Discord and cascade would also be great. I'm surprised you didn't mention discord and harmony however, this is the first weapon to roll with that combo and I think it can also shred.
Fun combo: pair it with Fighting Lion and go for enlightened action + tap the trigger
Enlightened Action/Collective Action is a very strong PvE roll. EA keeps the gun feeling snappy and gives it quick reloads. CA synergizes with stasis builds that emphasize creating shards, such as my warlock build that uses Iceflare Bolts and Glacial Harvest.
Moving target + fragile focus is great for me
D2foundry does say Horror Story will have headstone demo. It also shows new perks like enlightened action so its likely accurate.
Glad to see Cascade Point is getting some love.
Great vid as always
this is what I always wanted forensic nightmare to be
I was never able to get an immortal.
I recently got 2 rolls,
PvP: Dynamic Sway and Rangefinder
PvE: Demo and Collective Action
I’ve been enjoying crafted forensic nightmare this season, would recommend
I got one with moving target and using it on Peacekeepers is absolutely vile. I play MNK and it feels like your opponents suddenly can't aim since you're strafing so fast they can't hit you.
I got a Enlighten Action + Target lock roll, now now I know, target Lock go brrr.
However, when these two perks are paired with with the origin trait, EVERY BULLET LANDED increases:
Enlightened Action
+10 Handling on hit (max +50)
+10 Reload on hit (max +50)
Target Lock
+25% damage after only a couple seconds of firing (13% of the mag)
Nadir Focus origin trait
+extra accuracy
+extra range
This is genuinely one of the best feeling SMGs ive ever used, because it rewards good tracking instead of just giving you all the benefits out the gate like kill clip after a kill.
Enlightened action is reload and handling
@@kamarwashington ah yeah my bad, I was swapping tabs to check the stats in DIM and must've mixed up Enlightened Action and Nadir Focus.🙏
@@jakubbercik6965 You’re good bro. I do agree people are sleeping on enlightened action. That’s probably top 3 in the left column to me
I've been trying to get a Demo Headstone roll all season, every engram focused into this gun... no luck so far 😢
I dropped that and i instantly put it in my vault thinking how good this will be when i wanna play stasis lmao.
Free sharda and grenade energy on top of shattering for nore energy. Sounds dope.
Don't forget to hit Prestige 4 first if you're focusing! Makes a big difference when chasing rolls, if you haven't already.
Definitely worth the chase bro, so good
See. My unending tempest is not stasis its normal kinetic. Frenzy and rewind rounds
I got my hands on a hammer forged, accurized, perpetual, rangefinder with stab MW and i have to say IT FEELS JUICY
This SMG is everything that Blood Feud from Season of the Plunder should have been for both PvE and PvP. Feels great on a Renewal stasis hunter with Subsistence Headstone.
Thanks man!❤
I've focused 120ish and have gotten 3 target lock rolls. About half of those were 1-2 reset and the other was 3++ resets. Stupt game. (I want tlock for multi targets and bodyshot forgiveness)
btw: horror story does come with demo headstone, also headstone COULD be amazing with stacy buffs next season.
Anything with demo in the third column is a must-have for me.
Forensic Nightmare has been pretty decent for me . . .guess I have a reason to try tempest. Thanks!
Gut shot and target lock are my go to perks.
I wonder how this compares to the Enyo-D. Same frame. Comparable stats. Origin trait is obviously way better. Reticle is different as well, far cleaner.
Does it make the Enyo obsolete for PvP? Or would you say keep the Enyo god roll if you have one?
I got a moving target/rangefinder and tested it in pvp, it shreds, I like it
Demo Headstone is also available on that Stasis Dawning 120 but it's only available once a year.
I enjoy when an EASY weapon to roll is good in both pve and pvp. I really enjoy this gun
Circling back to this, what do you think of Frenzy on this for pvp?
I hate that ritual weapons have 24 different perks, but if they’re going to stick with it, this is what I want to see. Multiple good combinations and archetype staples.
I checked my vault, and I have a max range (full bore, accurized, range mw) with Killing Wind + Tap the Trigger. I'll have to give that a spin
