@@marioharrer9999 Yes? You can even choose to have the ATBs either fully stop while picking your actions or to keep going. Active or Wait, as it's worded in the games' options. And even with the ATBs keep going, those games ARE Turn Based as opposed to Action based, such as FF7 Remake/Rebirth or FF16 are. Sure, it's not at the same degree as FF10 or the first three games, but that remains Turn Based.

Other than Squall and Rinoa's relationship, and more speficially Squall learning to open himself to others, the only other member of the crew to have any significant arc is Zell, who gets to redeem himself for one major screw up and to lead the rest of the gang during Lunatic Pandora's return to Esthar.

The reason is most likely that they want to see Kitase personally oversee games like a possible FF6 or 8 remake in the future. They cannot do that currently with FFVII Remake part 3 being developed by CS1, but they have stated before that they would want to remake those games asp.
The team that developed OG FF8 is the same team that developed OG FF7 and are now working on the FF7R trilogy. FF9 was developed by an entirely different team that no longer works at Square Enix. My bet is when they're done with the FF7R trilogy, they'll start working on FF8R. That's why FF9R may come before FF8R.

Final Fantasy 9 is one of the most special games holding a deep place in my heart, it's so special... hearing the music in this video brings back so many fond memories :"( ♥ I can DEFINITELY see Square-Enix holding off until the next Nintendo console releases to make it one of the big new AAA's to come to the console to help with sales and new customers. FF9 has that slight cartoony aesthetic style to it that would work GREAT for the kind of games that come to Nintendo, so I can see them wanting to add that to their planned console releases. Especially with recent news of the company deciding to branch out their games to multi-platform now it makes perfect sense they would want to do this! I keep hearing the next Nintendo console is going to be quite competent hardware wise, so I don't think the console would limit the vision for the game. Personally I love both the classic nostalgic turn-based and modern action-oriented combat, so either or is good for me, I just wouldn't mind seeing it come out in 2 parts(3 is overkill, FF7 Remake Trilogy project is the only one that this makes sense for given the original 3 discs and the fact that the lore etc. is so extensive they can TOTALLY get away with 3 parts but not other remakes, those should be 1-2 parts max) so they can extend the lore a bit and maybe add things they couldn't to the original due to hardware and memory/storage limitations for sure!
If this remake does happen then I want Beatrix in my party! Also I want to be able to actually pilot the Hilda Garde 3! I miss the days when you could fly the airship all around the world, I really want that back.
I personally hope that the translation is a lot more faithful and that story elements that were either left out or abandoned are implemented to help flesh out the characters even more than they already are (at least in regards to certain characters).
I prolly would be on the 7 remake train if they didn't delay the PC releases so hard. I originally decided to wait and play it al when it's done but UA-cam lets play/reaction videos are making me reconsider. I get to see the biggest scenes, and more importantly how they're being changed...without paying anything. Considering there's less chance of the plot being screwed with like FF7, if an FF9 remake hits PC on release I'll probably be there for it Day 1. I honestly don't care if it's in multiple parts.

Things that THEY MIGHT probably add, knowing SE 1. Stagger mechanics (All SE’s new RPGs has this mechanic, even Octopath Traveller has something similar) 2. Character Swapping (hopefully) 3. Expanded Trigger commands like what FFX does. Even 7R has situations when you need to use your environment to gain advantages 4. Revamped summoning system. Hope they don’t make it like FF7R, very bad implementation. 5. Expanded Weapon and Equipment system. Also the Ability system (AP) 6. Seamless encounters 7. Team attacks / Partner system. They’ll probably expand on it like what Vivi and Steiner had. Steiner can only access certain skills when Vivi is on the party. We might have some simplified Synergy system. Excited to see something similar. 8. Crafting system 9. Trance system revamp. The most annoying thing is when Trance happens during a normal encounter and it gets wasted. Maybe resetting every encounter and has faster build up. 10. NG+ 11. New sidequests probably

Hot take, the ff7 remake trillagy would be better in my eyes as an actual remake with the same visuals instead of the spinoff, marvel esk multi dimension, black and white dichotomy of judeo christian good and evil, tower igniting map filling minigame extravaganza that ff7 was. It killed all the themes of the origional game's, played for spectical instead of storytelling and was overall just a worse experience that started good with the first half of ff7 remake but progressively fell off, i did not finish rebirth and im not getting the third one.
im all for this, my only concern is that they will make it an action RPG and not a turn based rpg. I just wanted a technical remaster more than i want a remake persay. I dont want a ff7 remake version of ff9, i want ff9 but prettier lol Besides QoL, i think they should make Necron a optional side boss and allow Kuja to be the final boss like he already felt like. im so excited, i have to temper my expectations lol

I think at least for the story, Kuja is the perfect final boss and his Trance form is just amazing for theme, story, and looks awesome! I just thought Necron felt out of place. What they really really need to bring back imo is fixed camera angles and backgrounds. The originals had such awesome screenplay. Fixed angles and backdrops help/force us to examine. The new games look amazing but with only user controlled camera it’s so easily missed. They should weave in more fixed areas throughout any new remake
As someone who's played every single, western released Final Fantasy game. I can honestly say that 9 is my favorite so every time I hear rumors or talks about a remake I feel like a kid in a candy shop. I don't need no, FF7 styled remake. Just give me 9 with modern visuals and I'm happy.

I'm just suffering through my first ever playthrough of FF X (suffering, because I loved the story and the game but now I'm like 20h into the postgame and it's extremely repetitive, plus the minigames suck hard)... that said... it reminded me of how awesome turn-based FFs where... Let's hope these news are real (even though I'd still prefer FFVIII).

Yeah im worried about this knowing its turn based. Look purist are probably doing their typical dance. And now all of a sudden praise SE and pretend this will be the best game ever where usually the company can do no good and the eternally nitpick their games. But the truth is SE would never put proper AAA budget into a game thats turn based. That means SE has no faith in FF9 like it had in FF7. And before you mindless sheeple npc repeat the current mantra that is ‘AAA bad, I prefer a smaller title with less fidelity’. Do realize that this affects the breath of the world. The exploration of said world. And just in general how they manage to realize the open fields, towns and such. Its not just hair fidelity and physics. FF7 Remake and Rebirth give you an uncomprimized world to explore with few invisible walls. FF9 now seems unsure of that despite how much that title deserves the attention. So no I’m afraid turn based equals low faith which equals low budget which equals less casual gamer traction. And since FF purist really arent that numerous (sorry you are maybe 100-500k strong nothing more) and the existing FF audience isnt that large (see FF7R/FF16 sales numbers) this game will sadly not sell well. I dont care about the turn based even though SE will see this as confirmation. But FF9 deserves a proper remake. Not a trails of mana scope one. Sorry purist but this game wont do well and it will be the last turn based you get. And it only took the sacrifice of FF9 for you to get your way once and never never again. Shamefull.
I have no problem with turn-based, it's sounding more like a REMASTER than a REMAKE atm. Considering I alreayd have FF9 on my PS4/5, I'll need a little more added before I buy it a fourth time.
I don’t like turn-based anymore. But if it’s an FF9 or FF10 Remake, I’m all out for it. I bet they will add more interesting twist on their turn-based combat. A faster ATB like FFX-2 is nice. I got addicted to X-2’s combat, like I replayed it 5 times when I was a kid. It has a great illusion of real-time combat. I do wish battle happens seamlessly on the map and without the annoying random encounters and add newer skills and quests better Summon system than FF7R. And let’s hope they are using Unreal and not their shitty game engines.
I so want this to happen, but remain turn-based. I honestly love turn-based RPG’s. Also, I don’t want all of the extra, kind of pointless side quests like the 7 remake has. But would also like for them to expand on the lore, background story, etc. It’s the story that I love.
That's actually bad news. The rumours were that it was just a complete graphical overhaul but with the core gameplay intact. This suggests they may want to give IX similar treatment which it neither wants nor needs. IX was made as a love letter to the classic titles, mixing classic and modern in a perfect way. It NEEDS to retain it's combat system and core gameplay. It needs to retain its art style without going too hyper-realistic, it NEEDS the overworld in all its original glory and to not be converted into an open world game. Anything other than a complete apples to apples remake will ruin this game. It needs command based combat (be it ATB or turn-based) and it needs its original overworld.
how do i feel? i feel they need to stop remaking games and movies and come up with their own ideas. tired of watching and playing the same things i did two decades ago. i like 7 and 9 and while i wanted a faithful 7 remake enix failed to deliver and frankly i've lost any semblance of trust in that company. enix isn't soft.

FF9 is a wonderful game and I can't wait for the remake!! I really hope they keep it turn based. Since it was originally designed to be a love letter to the older FF titles, if they change it from turn based, it will completely destroy what the game was actually intended for. I am not a big fan of the action based changes, but I understand why they make that change. I just hope they keep this game true to it's intent. Long live turn based jrpgs. They released nine for Playstation 1 after Playstation 2 had came out it was the last ps1 Game I ever played. I think that probably really affected the sales because the game itself was the best game since ff6. I almost stopped playing altogether after 8 I tried playing it again recently and even with fast forward and invincibility so I could fly through it I couldn't find much I liked about it and didn't finish. If they would release 9 with those features id go through it multiple times for the story. Final fantasy 10 is the same to me I wanna finish the story but the combat is so slow I dont feel like grinding levels to finish it.
For me, FF9 was the last good FF game until Rebirth came out which was excellent in my humble opinion. A similar reworking of 9 to Rebirth would be an exciting prospect, indeed. And don’t forget the excellent FF8.
@@penultimania4295 10 wasn’t open world and exploration limited. My opinion is valid. 9 was open world with many side quests as was 7&8. If you just want to walk down one path to get to each quest then that’s your privilege,
They should start a poll what fans really want. I would like to have Trance more frequently but the option to make the fights harder. Optional skin changes of clothes according to the current equipped gear (not only for weapons) would also be nice!
As your last comments, just better graphics, ATB system and sound, and gameplay with turnbased system and they 'll have a hit. But if that takes 5 more years, fint. just dont Disney or Marvel the game.
I will be pleased if it is sold as a "one and done", not sold in multiple time frames to get the complete story. Aaand sticking with the actual roots of the games turn base battle system. They kind of ruined FFVII remake with the "action battle" system. Buuut being a fan I went ahead and played through it anyway.
I never liked FF9. It was one of the worst in the series for me. To this day I still can't play much of it, just can't gel with the characters or story. For me, FF8 is still be the best one and hopefully that will be remade in the future. Nothing again 9, or those who love 9. I was already in my late teens when 9 came out and I just couldn't get into it.
Hopefully just a remaster and not a remake. It would be such a waste to spend the resources on 9 when there are much better games in the series. I'd rather see 6 or 8 get a full remake before 9. I know everyone has their own opinion but 9 was one of my least favorite in the series (probably right after 12).
My wish for this remake: - allow players to recruit Blank, Beatrice, and Zidane’s “little sis” Mikoto - flesh out the Gaia world more; like make it open world
FF9 was my least favorite FF of the PS1 generation, but a remake that stays true to the original game, is a remake ill pay full price for on day one and never look back. Finally a remake that doesn't ruin the combat experience.

I definitely prefer the new action oriented direction of Final Fantasy games. Still, unlike the turn-based community, I don't see any reason to be petty or bash the game because it didn't go in the direction I want. Happy for the traditionalists who wanted this.

I originally decided to wait and play it al when it's done but UA-cam lets play/reaction videos are making me reconsider. I get to see the biggest scenes, and more importantly how they're being changed...without paying anything.
Considering there's less chance of the plot being screwed with like FF7, if an FF9 remake hits PC on release I'll probably be there for it Day 1. I honestly don't care if it's in multiple parts.

It's so reassuring to hear that this remake is still being done. This game was a masterpiece.
There is absolutely no WAY this will happen. FF7 is the biggest FF game of all time and Rebirth has not sold well.
9R is already in development, again, it is a smaller scale remake unlike 7R
Things that THEY MIGHT probably add, knowing SE
1. Stagger mechanics (All SE’s new RPGs has this mechanic, even Octopath Traveller has something similar)
2. Character Swapping (hopefully)
3. Expanded Trigger commands like what FFX does. Even 7R has situations when you need to use your environment to gain advantages
4. Revamped summoning system. Hope they don’t make it like FF7R, very bad implementation.
5. Expanded Weapon and Equipment system. Also the Ability system (AP)
6. Seamless encounters
7. Team attacks / Partner system. They’ll probably expand on it like what Vivi and Steiner had. Steiner can only access certain skills when Vivi is on the party. We might have some simplified Synergy system. Excited to see something similar.
8. Crafting system
9. Trance system revamp. The most annoying thing is when Trance happens during a normal encounter and it gets wasted. Maybe resetting every encounter and has faster build up.
10. NG+
11. New sidequests probably

Hot take, the ff7 remake trillagy would be better in my eyes as an actual remake with the same visuals instead of the spinoff, marvel esk multi dimension, black and white dichotomy of judeo christian good and evil, tower igniting map filling minigame extravaganza that ff7 was.
It killed all the themes of the origional game's, played for spectical instead of storytelling and was overall just a worse experience that started good with the first half of ff7 remake but progressively fell off, i did not finish rebirth and im not getting the third one.
Not a hot take for me, I agree that the OG is vastly superior in everything but visuals

im all for this, my only concern is that they will make it an action RPG and not a turn based rpg. I just wanted a technical remaster more than i want a remake persay. I dont want a ff7 remake version of ff9, i want ff9 but prettier lol Besides QoL, i think they should make Necron a optional side boss and allow Kuja to be the final boss like he already felt like. im so excited, i have to temper my expectations lol

I think at least for the story, Kuja is the perfect final boss and his Trance form is just amazing for theme, story, and looks awesome! I just thought Necron felt out of place. Would be a super cool side boss like Hades or Ozma though.
@@kyledabearsfan I was just thinking cuz most final boss is the result of multiple transformations right? like Exdeath, Kefka, Sephiroth, Ultimecia, Vayne and others. I just thought it would be neat if Kuja had his own ultimate transformation, something even above Trance.
2:18 bc they know they are incompetent, and also the pressure of remaking a beloved classic is very high. Outsourcing allows them to scapegoat another company.
But in these cases I guess they saw the product of the outsourcing and said "we're not _that_ incompetent"
What they really really need to bring back imo is fixed camera angles and backgrounds. The originals had such awesome screenplay. Fixed angles and backdrops help/force us to examine. The new games look amazing but with only user controlled camera it’s so easily missed. They should weave in more fixed areas throughout any new remake

As someone who's played every single, western released Final Fantasy game. I can honestly say that 9 is my favorite so every time I hear rumors or talks about a remake I feel like a kid in a candy shop. I don't need no, FF7 styled remake. Just give me 9 with modern visuals and I'm happy.

Yeah im worried about this knowing its turn based. Look purist are probably doing their typical dance. And now all of a sudden praise SE and pretend this will be the best game ever where usually the company can do no good and the eternally nitpick their games. But the truth is SE would never put proper AAA budget into a game thats turn based. That means SE has no faith in FF9 like it had in FF7.
And before you mindless sheeple npc repeat the current mantra that is ‘AAA bad, I prefer a smaller title with less fidelity’. Do realize that this affects the breath of the world. The exploration of said world. And just in general how they manage to realize the open fields, towns and such. Its not just hair fidelity and physics. FF7 Remake and Rebirth give you an uncomprimized world to explore with few invisible walls. FF9 now seems unsure of that despite how much that title deserves the attention.
So no I’m afraid turn based equals low faith which equals low budget which equals less casual gamer traction. And since FF purist really arent that numerous (sorry you are maybe 100-500k strong nothing more) and the existing FF audience isnt that large (see FF7R/FF16 sales numbers) this game will sadly not sell well. I dont care about the turn based even though SE will see this as confirmation. But FF9 deserves a proper remake. Not a trails of mana scope one.
Sorry purist but this game wont do well and it will be the last turn based you get. And it only took the sacrifice of FF9 for you to get your way once and never never again. Shamefull.
I have no problem with turn-based, it's sounding more like a REMASTER than a REMAKE atm.

I don’t like turn-based anymore. But if it’s an FF9 or FF10 Remake, I’m all out for it. I bet they will add more interesting twist on their turn-based combat. A faster ATB like FFX-2 is nice. I got addicted to X-2’s combat, like I replayed it 5 times when I was a kid. It has a great illusion of real-time combat.
I do wish battle happens seamlessly on the map and without the annoying random encounters and add newer skills and quests better Summon system than FF7R. And let’s hope they are using Unreal and not their shitty game engines.

Also, I don’t want all of the extra, kind of pointless side quests like the 7 remake has. But would also like for them to expand on the lore, background story, etc. It’s the story that I love.
That's actually bad news. The rumours were that it was just a complete graphical overhaul but with the core gameplay intact. This suggests they may want to give IX similar treatment which it neither wants nor needs. IX was made as a love letter to the classic titles, mixing classic and modern in a perfect way. It NEEDS to retain it's combat system and core gameplay. It needs to retain its art style without going too hyper-realistic, it NEEDS the overworld in all its original glory and to not be converted into an open world game.
Anything other than a complete apples to apples remake will ruin this game. It needs command based combat (be it ATB or turn-based) and it needs its original overworld.
how do i feel? i feel they need to stop remaking games and movies and come up with their own ideas. tired of watching and playing the same things i did two decades ago. i like 7 and 9 and while i wanted a faithful 7 remake enix failed to deliver and frankly i've lost any semblance of trust in that company. enix isn't soft.
i might even buy this if graphics are like ff7 remake and gameplay is turn based like ff9 original learning abilities and skills....if not, if they turn it in some action shit like ff7 remake then i'll play cracked pc version, if dosen't get cracked or pc version who the fuck cares then i just won't play....i'm more than happy with my modded ff9
FF9 is a wonderful game and I can't wait for the remake!! I really hope they keep it turn based. Since it was originally designed to be a love letter to the older FF titles, if they change it from turn based, it will completely destroy what the game was actually intended for. I am not a big fan of the action based changes, but I understand why they make that change. I just hope they keep this game true to it's intent. Long live turn based jrpgs. They released nine for Playstation 1 after Playstation 2 had came out it was the last ps1 Game I ever played. I think that probably really affected the sales because the game itself was the best game since ff6. I almost stopped playing altogether after 8 I tried playing it again recently and even with fast forward and invincibility so I could fly through it I couldn't find much I liked about it and didn't finish. If they would release 9 with those features id go through it multiple times for the story. Final fantasy 10 is the same to me I wanna finish the story but the combat is so slow I dont feel like grinding levels to finish it.
For me, FF9 was the last good FF game until Rebirth came out which was excellent in my humble opinion. A similar reworking of 9 to Rebirth would be an exciting prospect, indeed. And don’t forget the excellent FF8.

I would like to have Trance more frequently but the option to make the fights harder. Optional skin changes of clothes according to the current equipped gear (not only for weapons) would also be nice!

I will be pleased if it is sold as a "one and done", not sold in multiple time frames to get the complete story. Aaand sticking with the actual roots of the games turn base battle system. They kind of ruined FFVII remake with the "action battle" system. Buuut being a fan I went ahead and played through it anyway.

I never liked FF9. It was one of the worst in the series for me. To this day I still can't play much of it, just can't gel with the characters or story. For me, FF8 is still be the best one and hopefully that will be remade in the future. Nothing again 9, or those who love 9. I was already in my late teens when 9 came out and I just couldn't get into it.

Hopefully just a remaster and not a remake. It would be such a waste to spend the resources on 9 when there are much better games in the series. I'd rather see 6 or 8 get a full remake before 9. I know everyone has their own opinion but 9 was one of my least favorite in the series (probably right after 12).
My wish for this remake:
- allow players to recruit Blank, Beatrice, and Zidane’s “little sis” Mikoto
- flesh out the Gaia world more; like make it open world
FF9 was my least favorite FF of the PS1 generation, but a remake that stays true to the original game, is a remake ill pay full price for on day one and never look back. Finally a remake that doesn't ruin the combat experience.

I never got to play FF9 and never had the time to be able to despite that I bought it on iOS when it got ported there so now I’m excited to have some more free time now and can’t wait to be able to experience this remake for the first time!
