  • Here is the Maxon CEPT FM radio, model MX1000 from 1989. Not good from my point of view was the radio conditions with loads of foreign interference...this is what makes the CEPT set of 40 channels unuseable in my opinion.
Mr Chippie drove along our usual 6 mile 'difficult terrain for radio' test route & stopped ay the 5-mile point for a static test. The radio worked well, even if the band didn't.
Our continued thanks to Thunderpole for kindly supplying the T3000 radio fitted in the test vehicle t no cost to us. This is the sole reason for the 'paid promotion' flag on this video.

Would love to have a UK 27/81 version of this. PLL swap all that's needed?

That band sounds like AM more than CPT FM with all the DXing going on but saying that the set did very well on the scratchy corner test.

Normally the interference on the CEPT band is SSB, but in this case it was mainly FM. Under those conditions even 4W of AM or FM can carry hundreds of miles.

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 Very true with this warm weather will have lifted the atmosphere was good to hear it, though if not DXing it can be annoying locally but the test was a good result with a few channel changes.
