I’m gutted this 250 is what it is. For that price I was expecting so much more. So much plastic. Mild 48 v battery that is so small. Adblue. I could go on and on.
That's interesting, the cabin was pretty good, very premium but not luxurious. But much better than the top-spec Everest Platinum. Which car do you currently drive?
I love the look of this, but the same old motor with a heavier car now = even less gutless power. I get why they did not put a bigger motor in it as it would take sales away from the 300 but still, what a crap motor for this kind of coin. Then throw a caravan on and its a slug. Dunno, sitting on the fence on this one, and the Everest seems like a better all round deal considering the price difference, not getting caught up in the fanboi hysteria.
Less payload than the previous model and reduced performance due to extra weight. No mention of the ridiculous impost of AdBlue that when towing will require many refills on a long trip? On a recent trip stopped at the Ampol on the Hume FWY about 45 mins on the way to Melbourne. Asked if they had AdBlue, the attendant said that he thought there was a tin on the shelves. Good Luck Toyota.
On the fleet friendly GX, I think it’s acceptable. But I agree, If Toyota at least did the colour coding on the GXL and above, it would’ve looked a bit better.
Why didn't they put that 48V system under the second row of seats, like they did in the Land Rover Defender and Disco? Those vehicles have flat load floors and the way they compensate is they don't allow the base of the 2nd row to fold forwards. As an owner of a Disco 5 I've never missed the seat base not folding. LR also have a sliding rail on their 2nd row. Seems like a very dodgy design effort on Toyota's part by comparison. And they had 15 years to get this right!!! WTF?
@@darrenprior6339 I’m pretty sure in 1-2 years they’ll probably fix that. The US spec Land cruisers have a different engine & hybrid setup so I think that will eventually come to AUS, also with a better boot packaging.

@@NBMediaAndContent Yeah that's correct. I test drove the Altitude over the weekend and it has it but it's quite blurry to look at. The altitude I drove was also $100,000 ( I am in SA )

@ It seems to me that everything is priced around $100K these days or more. The Ford Everest is cheaper for the Platinum but I don’t think it’s really that great compared with the Prado in terms of quality.

150 is a relic compared to 250

The VX is the perfect model, especially with its electronically adjustable suspension-combining comfort and performance seamlessly.
Though I agree with you that it’s not luxury but premium.. great review 👌 bb

FYI, The screen is customizable
Thanks for pointing that out, when I get another 250 Series to review, i’ll have more time to understand the car a bit better. 😊
I'll wait until the next generation of this model comes out after they have fixed all the little glitches and mistakes
Its a shame that you have to buy the VX to get colour coding. The GX and GXL look terrible with the black plastic trim round the wheel arches
