Who said anything about ice skating!
I'm looking for figure skating on/with roller skates!
They have both been around for a very long time.
Since you've already done one about ice skating you should do one about roller skating also or change the title of this video to ice skating instead of figure skating because it does not cover figure skating in both sports!
This video is very discriminating against roller figure skating!
That sport goes back a few hundred years also! But it never got the recognition that it deserved.
They were supposed to start including it in the Summer Olympics back in the early seventies. But some jerks in charge of the Olympics rejected it saying that it was too identical to ice skating.
Several world champion ice skaters started out on roller skates. There's even a video of Terra Lapinski on UA-cam in a high level competition on roller skates.
These very talented roller skaters had hopes of being in the Olympics but could only get there if they switch sports over to ice.
Figure skating on both roller and ice is identical pretty much in every way. Just like dance is almost identical on both roller and ice and use pretty much the same dances.
Historically both sports were controlled by the same organization for a short time but they tried to ignore the roller skating and promote the ice skating. That was a very bigoted attitude. And roller skating never completely recovered from that.
Roller skating still continues to have local, regional, national, and World championships regardless of the bigoted attitude that many ice skaters have against roller skating!
They talk about it and treat it like the embarrassing country cousin that they don't want anyone to know about!
I have personally witnessed that attitude watching many different videos and reading different comments all over the internet and the way it's treated on TV in spite of the fact that it has been highlighted several times on sports shows like wide World of sports!
The governing organization of roller skating has changed several times over the decades. But they seem to be in it just for the money and not for the promotion of the sport itself.
There have even been scandals of people embezzling money from that organization and skipping the country. Unfortunately that happens in lots of businesses. That even happened in the operating engineers that I belong to. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior!
Roller figure and dance skating is just as glamorous and elegant as ice skating is and always has been, and should be treated the same way.
Look for roller dance, free dance and roller freestyle videos on UA-cam.
yes, but this channel is called john wilson blades, one of the most prominant ice skate blade manufacturers. They are just trying promote the sport they make equipment for. No where in this video, or any other video on this channel does it say ice skating is supiorior to any other form of skating. There is much content out there dedicated to roller figure skating. Your claim is like saying a soccer ball company is discriminating against baseball players by only endorsing soccer players. Here's a youtube page full of roller figure skating content because you couldn't search it yourself, and instead wrote not one, but TWO comments bashing a ICE SKATING blade manufacturer: ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=roller+figure+skating.
