Assalamu alaikum. Sister we should have one more talk about parenting. How to stop our children from falling prey to mobile games and videos?

Extremely warm and wise words, Dr Saleem.
I once read a fantastic quotation from a child psychiatrist (sorry, their name I now forget): “One of the most imperative duties of a parent is to find out what kind of parent our children need us to be”. And most pertinently, how to nurture that optimal relationship and dynamic between parents and their children.
In essence, I interpret this as Dr Saleem says, let’s try our best to inculcate in them a sense of right and wrong, and the sense of shame coupled with a sense of perspective with an openness that encourages them to come to us or someone and admit they went wrong in some respect.
That’s the theory I subscribe to, now I must endeavour to implement this with my one children, both currently teenagers.
Yes, also to the most salient of points he makes: what is the wisdom or intention for this edict or that command or instruction. Don’t impose, illustrate with reason, shared experience and honesty. We were all once young.

Not sure about this, if my child came back with a clown from college and said they wanted to get married, that would not be happening. How many times have your parents said no and it was for the best in the end? Thank god mine did otherwise I’m pretty sure I’d be in prison.

    The Revelation of Quran 5:47
Allah: Let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed therein.
Muslims: No! Their Book is corrupted. Please Mohammed; tell Allah their Book is corrupted.

You are probably ahead of most of us. But my view is alot of parents need reality checks. They have no idea how to adapt and strike a balance between modern times and positive Islamic parenting.

Children can freely choose their spouse, what the heck is this? Islam 2.0?

What are you? A god? Everybody has a right to choose their own spouse.
