I can’t claim to be much of a biblical scholar, but isn’t there a chapter in Revelations “ and the living shall envy the dead” …. this is possibly correct In WW3 type scenario… anyone “ lucky” enough to survive would probably have a fairly wretched existence.

The policy used to be-and probably still is: Mutually Assured Destruction and Launch on Warning. That is, if we or they detect a missile launch, we respond immediately and launch ALL our nukes. The last count for the Russian arsenal that I read was about 6,000 nukes. I believe our arsenal is somewhat less. Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has the most accurate count. And it isn't NINE. I am a 74 year old Navy vet. I am not unacquainted with these issues.

Toshiko Tanaka brings to life the human suffering and devastation wreaked upon Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Human nature creates short memories and our grasp of reality and the effects of such weapons is limited. I have visited both Hiroshima & Nagasaki and a visit should be mandatory before any world leader has control of such weapons. Great journalism from Al Jazeera.

Back in 2017, before 6AM, I was woken up by my phone ringing. Whem I looked at my phone, I got a warning from the government that North Korea tested ballistic missiles. It landed on the east of South Korea, but very close to Hokkaido. If ever it landed inside the Japanska territory, war could've started there, and most people will already be dead, since everything happened so fast.
That man is a genius. After getting shelter, you have to look for water first

Why do you assume Africa is the safest place? Missiles can reach Africa, so can nuclear fallout. Btw, there are more than 4 continents, so Africa isn't the only continent that doesn't have nuclear weapons.
Australia/Oceania, South America also do not have any nuclear weapons.

You have to have a bug out bag with you all the time in your car or at home. You have to stock 2 weeks of food and water in your home. Flashlights , first aid kit, and other stuff. Be prepared all time and hope for the best

I think it was a real human behavior under innminent threat. An isolated island was the best place to test. Do people panic? Do they drive erratically? Do they turn to violence? All these questions are important.

I'm from Hawaii the first thing my grandpa told me when I asked about the WWII/Pearl Harbor: Get black out curtains he said I should keep a set on the side to help the enemy from seeing your lights. He also said black paint if you can't get curtains. But I live in LA it would just make it hot in the summer if I painted my windows so I keep curtains.

How did a ballistic missile suddenly become a nuclear missile? Also, if this is how people respond to the thought of one missile maybe hitting Hawaii, how do you think the people in Gaza feel right about now?
It is important to remember that today’s nuclear bombs (thermonuclear weapons) are many times more powerful than the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
If a nuclear weapon were used today, it would be a lot worse than Hiroshima and Nagasaki (depending on the target). I’ll mention Ukraine because I believe it is the most likely place a nuclear weapon might be used given the current geopolitical situation. My concern is if the Russians get backed into a corner, and feel that they aren’t getting their way in their “special military operation” in Ukraine, that’s when they might try to use their nuclear arsenal. Even without using nuclear weapons, nuclear blackmail is quite tempting, especially for Russia, which doesn’t have the conventional strength of Western nations (including the USA) but still has a massive nuclear arsenal at its disposal. It is for these reasons why I believe Russia is far more likely to use a nuclear weapon today, compared to the United States (plus their allies in the UK and France). There’s also a risk from the authoritarian North Korea, as well as the risk of nuclear use if China invaded Taiwan. India/Pakistan must also be watched closely.
