You can bolt it onto any Ford C4 transmission. This is a performance transmission but nothing about it was setup from the factory for the overdrive. Gear Vendors will ask you if the vent tube of your C4 comes out of the side of the case or out of the top of the tailshaft housing. I believe that determines which replacement/ adapter tailshaft housing they send you in the kit to bolt the overdrive to. You can see in the video that my new trans & the adapter housing both have the vent at the top.
Hi I had a question ? Do you know if the output shaft of the c 6 can be pulled out without taking the trans apart ? And re installed ? I have a gear vendor I just bought it although in my 69 F250 C6 it has a fixed sqaure flange as the rear yoke with a big nut on it . I have 2 options keep the 14" tailhousing gear vendor , mine has a 7" short tail housing and have the 14" tail shaft installed for 300 bucks after I take my whole trans out of the truck headers exaust everything . My options were to change the output shaft to the 14" shaft and use the 14" tail gear vendor kit I have it's said that shaft can be removed and put back in without removing the trans although the trans shop says you need to take the pump off to get to the C Clip to reinstall the output shaft . The second option from GV was to exchange the 14" kit for there shorty kit 500 more but it comes with a new output shaft that actually splines into the gear vendor with out a coupler but if I need to remove trans either way do to the output shaft reinstall why pay 500 more for the shorty ...
+Ronnie Mata Hey Ronnie, thanks for watching. I checked the GearVendors web site and didn't see the C5 listed on the Ford pages of 3 and 4 speed autos. I recommend you give them a quick call to get an answer from the source. Their numbers are Toll Free 800-999-9555 • Telephone (619) 562-0060.
thanks for watching, it's turning out to be a cool project

Can the over drive unit be placed onto any c4? Or is this a specific transmission that is meant only for overdrive?
