The origional 2 bombs were dropped, after MUCH thought and back and forth before they were dropped in WWII.... the main reason was to save more life that would have been lost with further years of countries fighting.... and, it gave notice to the "bad guys" that their aggression wasn't going to be tolerated any longer. The U.S. didn't start that war, but the U.S. & our allies ended it!!

As a retired FF, after the tragic Our Lady of Angels school fires in Chicago IL. Sweeping Fire Code laws were put in place for school fire safety across the country to prevent the tragedy like they had in Chicago. Why are we not doing a similar program for security at our nations schools? 40 Billion for Ukraine? That amount would retrofit every school in the country with advanced security devices and intruder deterrence.
