Nice video! I have started chasing down hum on my kid's short scale bass and buzz from the tone control. I replaced the pots and 3 way with switchcraft, and it improved some but like you said I found out single coil pickups it's just going to be an issue. I think next, I'll use the shielding tape and then replace all the wiring since it was so cheap. After that maybe some TV Jones dual coil pickups!
Right on . Keep your kid jamming. I would look at all the grounding wires. See if one may look connected but is not. If it has shielding tape already at all. Look around to see if any has peeled loose and is touching something it shouldn’t. TV jones are great . Glad the video was helpful and thanks for watching. 👍✌️
One more thing is... do not daisy chain the ground wires pot to pot. Run each ground wire separately to one common area, usually the volume pot. It is possible to have a ground loop when daisy chained. I noticed a marked reduction in hum copper taping the inside (including over the "silver" backing of the pick guard) and wiring my Strat like that!!!
Yes you can do both tape and paint. I have put the tape on first and then the paint. The paint is easier to get down through the wire holes to connect each cavity. So I use the paint to connect the tape from one cavity to the next.
Finally a video on shielding that goes directly to the point.
@@aitordotco thank you and thanks for watching. ✌️
@@aitordotco I’m actually working on another shielding video now. It will be out in the next day or two.
@@GuitarsModsMusic amazing! I´ll watch it !
We hope this was helpful on shielding your guitar or even making the choice to do it or not. Thanks for watching and have a great day. 👍✌️

I do this to all my guitars, but I'm not convinced it actually helps anything. Rock on.
I hear ya 👍✌️
