Why you only have 728 subscribers (as of 21 Aug 2022) is beyond me!! Great channel. You are basically holding my hand as I navigate through my first build. Keep up the great work.
Excellent work and instruction. Judging by the response I received on my last video, a number of viewers will appreciate the instruction on the cavity. I must say the cover was where I struggled, so really looking forward to the next episode
Seeing you carve out your control cavity brought a thought to the front of my mind. When I watch all the builders in this competition all the control cavities are neat and clean for the most part. Yet nearly every guitar I have seen built in a factory by big name brands looks like crap all chipped up and the inside about as rough as 60 grit paper. Anyone else notice that? Every time I see your wood choices together as a unit the more I envy your eye for that sort of thing. Stunning choices, precise work, just amazing what you can do. Like Frenchie says.. why do you have so few subs when people who make the cheesiest most ridicules content have millions..
Thanks for another really kind comment Bill 🙏. I have something exciting coming up in October which I hope will help to grow my channel! Thanks also for the compliments of wood choices, that’s one of the things where I think us small builder have a huge advantage over the big boys so I spend a lot of time picking and matching wood together, it’s one of the best parts of the build for me. And I can’t say I’ve ever thought about the control cavity thing, maybe I should open up my Tele and see what it looks like in there!😀
Im all over the first part of the cavity templates but fall on my bum when it comes to how to make a cover from that template so I am very much looking forward to the next video!
Nice sleek and clean looking there Gio Came out great and it's always a bonus but great relief when something you try something for a first time comes out so well and you're happy with it.
@@TornelliGuitars Yeah i've had that feeling a lot i this build. Just when you think something is going to wrong and it doesn't relief would be an apt description for it, followed by being chuffed with yourself for being able to pull it off ... lol
@@TornelliGuitars Thanks Gio, i appreiciate that mate. But i can't see you not being able to do it and probably better than i have as you have a lot more woodworking experience than i have. The neck got glued to the body today, so i'm getting closer to having a finished guitar. Will have it finished before the deadline date (health permitting obviously), just need to get some serious editing done after it's finished for the super edit and you'll probably get to see it finished before i've finished it in the build series ... lol
Nice brother. You've found you pace man. I really think you have come into your own on the video making process! Man that guitar is just beautiful! Nice. ✌️
Mate, you could have made this episode specifically for me 😂 I need to make the control cavity, I need to carve the neck, the latter being the most bum-wobbly as I gouged the allen end of the truss rod 1-2mm too deep in one place - sigh… Anyway, enough of my woes.. This, as with all your builds, is looking stunning. The neck carve and transitions look flawless. I think what I like so much about your builds is everything makes sense. Everything balances. There’s nothing in there that doesn’t need to be. Everything flows and everything harmonises and on top of all that you make it look effortless and that my friend is true craftsmanship.
Thanks Jamie, I look forward to, and appreciate all your kind comments. The neck heel was a new style for me but I’m really happy with how it came out. Thanks also for your comments on the guitar I’m really looking forward to getting finish on this one now, I can’t wait to see what the rosewood looks like polished up! I’m sure your neck carve will go well because I’ve seen what you’ve done so far and it looks great, if you take your time and measure accurately it will come out perfect!👍
Great tips as usual! I’m up to the control cavity to. Made the templates last weekend and will route it all this weekend. Love the design of this guitar as well. 👍
Thanks for the kind comment, I really appreciate it. I’m really happy with how the neck carve came out on this, particularly the heel as this was a new thing for me. I’m looking forward to getting some finish on this now!👍
Great video. I’m just about to start carving my neck and this is a great tutorial. Control cavity is coming up for me soon also. I’m really looking forward to seeing how you do the cover.
Thanks for the kind comment, I really appreciate it. I’ve been following your build and you always spend time considering each step in the process so I know you’ll end up with a good result! I’ll be sure to include how I make the cover on the next vid. Also I did a detail step by step neck carving vid (it’s on my channel) a while back, maybe it will help more than this one as it has a lot more info in 👍
Thanks Corey, yeah, I’ve always found it to be one of those overly time consuming tasks that should go quicker than it does. I always make templates now which has turned cavity and cover making from a 2 day job into an afternoon job which is much more acceptable! 👍
That's a great tutorial for doing a custom cavity, but for a beginner such as myself I think its far simpler and less stressful to just buy Crimson's universal cavity template. It has everything needed for the cavity, lip and plate. And its only around £10. Granted shipping could double that depending where you live, but even so I think it's worth it. p.s. I really appreciate how you edit these videos, including a snippet of each process to indicate how its done but not lingering on each so you don't end up with a 45 min video.
Hi - came across from Todd at Sweet T - which is odd as I live in South Wales! Anyway, a question. The neck depth measurements you gave on screen - am I correct in presuming those are inclusive of the fingerboard? Cheers and thanks, Paul.

Thanks Jurgen, a few people have said that. I think I might do a short video just on making the cover.
that neck to body trasition is just perfect! Great build so far!
Wow, thanks Lars!👍

Nicely presented; the two tables with alternate values helps to put the measurements in perspective. Keep up the good work.

Great build. Some good tips. Where is that modern c facets guide from? I'd love to steal it 🤣
Hi Graham, the facet guide I did myself. I’ll happily send it to you if you like, just drop me a message on Instagram. Thanks for the comment!👍

Yes absolutely buying a custom template is a good way to go, this was really just to demonstrate how I make them. Thanks for your kind comments also!👍

Hi Paul, yes they’re inclusive of fretboard and thanks for heading over, Todd is an awesome guy, I love his channel!👍
I bought a bowl and dish router bit to do that heel carve on one of my recent reworks, worked great! Bit noisier than your method though lol
Whatever works is the best way! 👍
